Development of Image-Based Modeller Using Primitive Constraints

  • In this paper, we present a method for obtaining the actual modeling data through reconstructing a 3D data from an image and a method of estimating the geometrical information and the camera location of architectural objects from a photograph containing a virtual environment are introduced. Our approach combines both geometry-based and image-based modeling techniques. The modeling system is effective and robust because it exploits constrains that are characteristic of architectural scenes. Our approach can recover models for use in either geometry-based rendering systems. We present results that demonstrate out approach´s ability to create realistic renderings of architectural scenes from viewpoints far from the original photographs.

콜린 로우(Colin Rowe) '투명성(transparency) 이론'의 비판적 고찰 - 투명성에 내재된 시간 개념의 분석을 중심으로 - (A Critical Study on Colin Rowe's 'Transparency' - Focusing on the Analysis of the meaning of 'Time and Simultaneity' implicated in 'Transparency' -)

  • Colin Rowe's 'Transparency' is one of core ideas applied to 20th Modern Architecture. It implies not only an optical characteristic, the perfectly clear, but also a broader spacial order, a simultaneous perception of different spacial locations. The former connected with physical attribute itself, and the latter deeply with the metaphorical idea of time, 'Simultaneity', embodying a new spacial quality. However, If we analyze the meaning of "Simultaneity" implicated in "Transparency" with the perspective of Henry Bergson's "Duration", there would be only little possibility as a solution to the problem of embodying a new spacial quality in architecture. As such a question emerging, this paper attempts to point out the problem of Colin Rowe's idea, "Simultaneity", and suggest a new architectural design method to overcome its inconsistency by interpretation and application of Bergson's "Image and Rhythm".

황룡사 답도 연구 (A study on the Main-path Remains in the Hwangnyongsa Temple Site)

  • This paper aimed to identify a main-path remains in the Hwangnyongsa temple site based on studying published the excavation survey report and researching relics related to the path in the ancient temple site. Hwngnyongsa temple, there were three type's paved footway, straight path to the central axis line of the layout, outside path around the main buildings and the front square of the lecture hall. These remains were expected that installed for some purposes, such as marches, touring, sort of a Buddhist ceremony been performed at the time of Silla. Straight path shows there were two rows of the main access inside the roofed corridor. A row consisted of the 2~3 pieces processed stone(Jangdaeseok) altogether with 92cm width and combined with square stone and stepping stone on the end of the road. It is regarded as very characteristic form and one of the architectural elements of Hwangnyongsa temple in Unified Silla period.

Nonlinear Analysis of RC Structures using Assumed Strain RM Shell Element

  • Nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structures is carried out by using Reissner-Mindlin (RM) shell finite element (FE). The brittle inelastic characteristic of concrete material is represented by using the elasto-plastic fracture (EPF) material model with the relevant material models such as cracking criteria, shear transfer model and tension stiffening model. In particular, assumed strains are introduced in the formulation of the present shell FE in order to avoid element deficiencies inherited in the standard RM shell FE. The arc-length control method is used to trace the full load-displacement path of reinforced concrete structures. Finally, four benchmark tests are carried out and numerical results are provided as future reference solutions produced by RM shell element with assumed strains.

  • Many papers which deal with the dynamic instability of shell-like structures under the STEP load have been published. But, there have been few papers related to the dynamic instability of hybrid cable domes. In this study, the dynamic instability of hybrid cable domes considering geometric nonlinearity is investigated by a numerical method. The characteristic structural behaviour of a cable dome shows a strong nonlinearity, so we determine the shape of a cable dome by applying initial stress and examine the indirect buckling mechanism under dynamic external forces. The dynamic critical loads are determined by the numerical integration of the nonlinear equation of motion, and the indirect buckling is examined by using the phase plane to investigate the occurrence of chaos.

  • This study is intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. From the result of study of modern architectural movement, all of architectural ideology have not been developed with the church architecture. Some of architectural concept have been the foundation of modern church architecture. From the point of view of theological aspects of Christianism, in church architecture which is hard to overcome the adherence of historical characteristics, especially nationalism which contain all the concepts and try the localization of church architecture play multi-functional roles to form expressional characteristics of the modern church architecture show harmonize to the modern architecture trend. The study is intended to clarify the nationalism-church architecture and to know the capability of our cases.

  • Nowdays, transparency is one of important design concept in architectural expression and the new architectural probability of transparency is pursued continuously. This study is focused on the expressional characteristics of transparency in the comtemporary interior architecture. The purpose of this study is that defines the concept of transparency and analyzes the characteristics and effects of transparency that is expressed variously in comtemporary interior architecture. The development of science and technology came true a entirely new architecture with material and skills made a foundation of comtemporary interior architecture. We have seen many modern architectural projects succeeded in obtaining one-way and two-way transparency with the modem technical advancement.

일본 현대 건축의 전통적 요소에 관한 연구 (Traditional Elements Embodied in the Japanese Contemporary Architecture)

  • This study examines how various elements characteristic of the traditional Japanese architecture are applied to contemporary architectural designs in japan. The issue of how to incorporate cultural tradition into architectural design has become one of central questions cast on modern architects. In this sense, the Japanese contemporary architecture has often been touted as infusing Japanese traditional elements into modern artifacts both functionally and aesthetically. That is, while Japanese architecture encompasses the essentials of Western modern techniques and styles, it obviously embodies Japanese tradition. Through the examination of various contemporary buildings in Japan, this study specifically explores how the vernacular forms and elements unique to Japan are reinterpreted and reinvigorated in contemporary architectural designs.

  • The purpose of this study is propose eco-friendly remodeling while protecting the living environment of existing residents and preserving the living in pleasant by considering the characteristic of high density sloped residential area. And then, the optimum insulation condition is analyzed based on the energy efficiency, economic analysis and environmental effect. It will be possible as the basic information for remodeling of each housing in sloped area. The energy demanding, cost and the carbon emission reduction is analyzed with the residential area in Seo-gu, Busan by eco-remodelling.

건축용 ETFE 필름 막의 역학적 특성 시험 (Mechanical Characteristic Test of Architectural ETFE Film Membrane)

  • ETFE 막재는 Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene의 약자로 색깔이 없고, 투명한 필름 막이다. ETFE 필름의 장점은 내화학성이 있고, 잘 접히지 않으며, 매우 가볍운 재료라는 것이다. 필름의 두께는 50마이크로 미터에서 300 마이크로 미터 두께가 주로 사용되고, 직포가 없어며 햇빛 투과율이 우수하고 재료의 강도는 다른 막재에 비해서 낮다. ETFE 막재의 인장강도는 40MPa에서 60MPa 정도이고, 인장 변형도는 약 200%에서 400% 정도이다. 본 논문에서는 ETFE 필름 막재의 역학적특성 시험을 수행하였다. 인장 시험으로 부터 인장 변형도, 인장 강도, 응력 변형도 곡선을 구하였고, ETFE 막재의 항복 강도를 결정하여 탄성계수를 구하였다. 그리고 온도하중에 의한 응력-변형도 특성과 반복하중에 대한 필름의 역학적 특성을 분석하였다.
