EVALUATION OF PROLIFERATION RESISTANCE USING THE INPRO METHODOLOGY

  • The IAEA launched the International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO) and developed the INPRO Methodology to provide guidelines and to assess the characteristics of a future innovative nuclear energy system in areas such as safety, economics, waste management, and proliferation resistance. The proliferation resistance area of the INPRO Methodology is reviewed here, and modifications for further improvements are proposed. The evaluation metrics including the evaluation parameters, evaluation scales and acceptance limits are developed for a practical application of the methodology to assess the proliferation resistance. The proliferation resistant characteristics of the DUPIC fuel cycle are assessed by applying the modified INPRO Methodology based on the developed evaluation metrics and acceptance criteria. The evaluation procedure and the metrics can be utilized as a reference for an evaluation of the proliferation resistance of a future innovative nuclear energy system.

A Study on Feasibility Evaluation for Prognosis Systems based on an Empirical Model in Nuclear Power Plants

  • This paper introduces a feasibility evaluation method for prognosis systems based on an empirical model in nuclear power plants. By exploiting the dynamical signature characterized by abnormal phenomena, the prognosis technique can be applied to detect the plant abnormal states prior to an unexpected plant trip. Early $operator^{\circ}{\emptyset}s$ awareness can extend available time for operation action; therefore, unexpected plant trip and time-consuming maintenance can be reduced. For the practical application in nuclear power plant, it is important not only to enhance the advantages of prognosis systems, but also to quantify the negative impact in prognosis, e.g., uncertainty. In order to apply these prognosis systems to real nuclear power plants, it is necessary to conduct a feasibility evaluation; the evaluation consists of 4 steps (: the development of an evaluation method, the development of selection criteria for the abnormal state, acquisition and signal processing, and an evaluation experiment). In this paper, we introduce the feasibility evaluation method and propose further study points for applying prognosis systems from KHNP's experiences in testing some prognosis technologies available in the market.

  • The introduction and application of IT(Information Technology) to a company has become to be viewed as a key factor for the business competitiveness and improved productivity. This study presents an approach to evaluation of a company's informatization level, which is especially appropriate for small and medium enterprises. The proposed evaluation method, based on the traditional questionnaire approaches, considers the various characteristics of the company, e.g., types of business, characteristics of customers, and locations of supply chains etc. A web-based system was developed to enable users to obtain the evaluation results from the evaluation method. The system also provides a function to produce valuable strategies for informatization by utilizing the case base which will be cumulated by repetitive evaluation requests. Finally, a real case was analyzed in order to verify the practicality of the evaluation system.

  • A model of value estimation for Technology Evaluation refers to technology and trade criterion is Presented on this study. Technology evaluation will be recognized to immediately solve the problem in government, Policy executive organs, enterprises. There is a necessity for fixing of technology evaluation institution to objectify technology evaluation method and means, to train and accumulate specialist of technology evaluation, to specialize technology evaluation organ, to secure public-trust, to spread application of technology evaluation results.   • The balanced scorecard has drawn attention from many researchers in various fields since its appearance in 1992. It became a norm for performance evaluation framework in many areas, such as marketing, information system evaluation, strategic planning, etc. Centered in the large companies in Korea, the balanced scorecard has been popularly used as a performance evaluation tool for human resource management. Now we Question its applicability to performance evaluation tool even in small business. This study tried to apply the balanced scorecard in developing an information system for performance evaluation in a small business. The study showed that the balanced scorecard can be nicely used in small business as a performance evaluation tool. The process of developing an information system is described in detail. The practitioners are to obtain a lot of insights in designing their human resource management systems from the study results.

  • The mobile application market has grown over the past decade since the advent of smartphones, making it the largest market for electronic device software. As competition intensifies in the mobile application market, the impact of application evaluations on the consumption and usage patterns of users has also significantly increased. Therefore, research has been conducted on measures to evaluate mobile applications, but most of the research has relied on qualitative methods such as expert-centered interviews or surveys. In addition, evaluation measures are being constructed from the service provider's perspective, not from the service user's perspective. However, the possibility of application-specific analyses that minimize the subjectivity of researchers is growing, as large amounts of user review data enable quantitative analysis of actual users' assessment of applications. Therefore, this study presents a methodology that can complement current problems with existing quality assessments for mobile applications by utilizing user review data. To this end, the Topic Modeling technique LDA (Latent Dirichlet allocation) is applied in order to elucidate ways to improve existing evaluation measures from a user's perspective. The study is expected to reduce bias in service assessment due to the subjectivity of service providers and researchers as well as provide a measure of assessment by area of mobile applications from a consumer perspective.

  • The purpose of this study was to spread the education of human creativity program and its possibility of consistency, and its application to school system by exploring the evaluation system that determines the valuable and useful decisions. This study was based on the evaluation system according to CIPP model regarding the program's general ideas and its role. The interest of the education of human creativity was increasing as well as its progress of program, and we searched 13 figures and 55 evaluation index according to increase the program's effectiveness and nation-wise situation of evaluation model. The conclusion of this study was that the human creativity program's evaluation was composed of six compartments. And the context evaluation was composed of three evaluation models and eleven index, and input evaluation was composed of three evaluation model and 15 index, while process evaluation is composed of three evaluation models and thirteen evaluation index. Lastly, output evaluation had four evaluation model and sixteen index.

A Development and Application of JPGEM : An Internet-Based Test Generation and Evaluation Package (웹 기반의 자동문제 출제 및 평가시스템의 개발 및 활용 : JPGEM의 개발과 활용을 중심으로)

  • Internet application for education has drawn interests in recent time. Usually the method of communication was unidirectional, which means teachers posted educational material on a server and students received them. Even the usage of WWW can't overcome the restriction of unidirectional communication problem. In order to solve this problem, researchers and commercial vendors began to provide packages for bidirectional solution. Those packages are course test generation and evaluation packages using Internet. They provide functionalities of problem generation and score management. In this paper some of those packages are reviewed, and the functionalities of JPGEM (Java Problem Generation and Evaluation Module), which is developed by the author of this paper, are discussed in detail.

Elementary School Teachers' Recognition for the Implementation of 2009 Revised National Science Curriculum (2009 개정 과학과 교육과정의 실행에 대한 초등학교 교사의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze elementary school teachers' implementation for the emphasis on the revision, major contents, teaching and learning method, and evaluation in the 2009 revised national science curriculum. To fulfill the purpose of this study we carried out a survey with 222 elementary school teachers. Main findings of this research were as follows: First, they highly agreed to the increase in class hours and the application of subject classroom, but they had a lower recognition for setting the subject groups. Second, the degree of necessity in discussion and STS was relatively high, but the degree of implementation in science writing, discussion and STEAM was low. Third, in teaching and learning method, they showed a high performance for mutual cooperation, student-led activities and communication, but, a low implementation for open inquiry and instruction considering individual differences. Fourth, in the evaluation of science learning, they showed a high implementation for evaluation based on achievement standards and one based on the understanding and application of basic concepts, but, a low implementation for the development of common evaluation tools. Fifth, it seemed that their recognition for amount, level and interest of science contents and inquiry activities was appropriate and positive.

Challenges in Application of Remote Sensing Techniques for Estimating Forest Carbon Stock (원격탐사 기술의 산림탄소 축적량 추정적용에 있어서의 도전)

  • The carbon-offset mechanism based on forest management has been recognized as a meaningful tool to sequestrate carbons already existing in the atmosphere. Thus, with an emphasis on the forest-originated carbon-offset mechanism, the accurate measurement of the carbon stock in forests has become important, as carbon credits should be issued proportionally with forest carbon stocks. Various remote sensing techniques have already been developed for measuring forest carbon stocks. Yet, despite the efficiency of remote sensing techniques, the final accuracy of their carbon stock estimations is disputable. Therefore, minimizing the uncertainty embedded in the application of remote sensing techniques is important to prevent questions over the carbon stock evaluation for issuing carbon credits. Accordingly, this study reviews the overall procedures of carbon stock evaluation-related remote sensing techniques and identifies the problematic technical issues when measuring the carbon stock. The procedures are sub-divided into four stages: the characteristics of the remote sensing sensor, data preparation, data analysis, and evaluation. Depending on the choice of technique, there are many disputable issues in each stage, resulting in quite different results for the final carbon stock evaluation. Thus, the establishment of detailed standards for each stageis urgently needed. From a policy-making perspective, the top priority should be given to establishinga standard sampling technique and enhancing the statistical analysis tools.
