ISO 19030에 따른 선박의 속력 손실을 고려한 방오도료의 경제성 평가 (The Study on Economic Evaluation of Anti Fouling Coatings based on Ship's Speed Loss in Accordance with ISO 19030 Standard)

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish the basic procedure and method for selection of preferred anti-fouling paint considering economic analysis according to ship's speed loss based on ISO 19030 that has been published in 2016 to prescribe practical methods for measuring changes in ship specific hull and propeller performance. In this study, six (6) anti-fouling paint products have been assumed for alternatives with each target maximum average speed loss and carried out comparison of the alternatives and sensitivity analysis in assumed conditions for selection of the preferred alternative.

방오도료 도막의 마모율과 분극특성의 상관관계에 관한 평가 (Evaluation on the Rlationship between Wear Ratio and Polarization Characteristics of Anti-Fouling Paint)

  • Recently, anti-fouling paints which does not include the poison components such as tin(Sn), copper(Cu) have been increasingly developed in order to inhibit the environmental contamination of the sea water. Moreover, the wear ratios of these anti-fouling paints are very important problem to prolong their life time in economical point of view. In this study, five types of anti-fouling paints as self polishing type were investigated on the relationship between their polarization characteristics and wear ratios. It was verified that there was apparently a good relationship between the wear ratio and polarization characteristics, for example, the wear ratio increased with increasing the impedance ratio, and increased or decreased with the corrosion potential shifting in the negative or positive direction respectively. In addition, the wear ratio decreased with decreasing the corrosion current density. Consequently, it is suggested that we can qualitatively expect the wear ratio by only measuring the polarization characteristics. Therefore, before the examination of the wear ratio was actually carried out in the field, the evaluation of polarization property in the laboratory may give a available reference data for their developments.

상사축척법에 기반한 저마찰 선박 방오도료의 실선 마찰저항 저감성능 추정 (Full Scale Frictional Resistance Reduction Effect of a Low Frictional Marine Anti-fouling Paint based on a Similarity Scaling Method)

  • In this study, a series of full-scale extrapolation procedures based on the Granville's similarity scaling method, which was employed by Schultz (2007), is modified and then applied to compare the resistance performance between two different anti-fouling coatings. As an analysis example, the low frictional AF coating based on a novel skin-friction reducing polymer named FDR-SPC (Frictional Drag Reduction Self-Polishing Copolymer), which had been invented by the present author, is employed. The low frictional coating, which gives 25.4% skin frictional reduction in lab test, is estimated to give 18.2% total resistance reduction for a 176k DWT bulk carrier.

  • An International Convention on the control of harmful anti-fouling system on ships(AFS Convention) was adopted on 5 October 2001 at Diplomatic Conference in London, and is expected to be presently effectuated with ratification of more than 25-member nations possessing about 25% of total world tonnage. This convention regulates the operation of harmful anti-fouling system and especially prohibits the use of organotin compounds contained in anti-fouling paint. Organotin compounds have a tendency to be easily extracted by specific solvents and have high polarity and low volatility as specific characteristics. This drives us to attempt of going through the process named derivatization that is required in analysis using a gas chromatography(GC). This study was conducted to determine the proper pre-treatment method, ethylation in comparison with hydridization on the analysis of tributyltin in organotin compounds and to verify the application of the method through the experimental analysis practically used anti-fouling paint and painted layer sample of the served ship.

  • 이 논문에서는 IMO-MEPC AFS 협약 채택(2001년 10월 5일)에 대한 국내 업게의 동향을 조사·분석하고 이를 바탕으로 AFS 협약과 연계된 국내법 마련(해양환경관리법 입법 방향, 선박안전법의 개정안)과 아울러 국제방오시스템증서 발급 방안, 효과적인 유해방오시스템 규제 방안(항만국 통제의 방안)을 제시하며, AFS 협약의 효율적 관리를 위한 관련부서의 일원화 방안 등을 마련하였다.

CFD를 이용한 표면 거칠기에 따른 선박의 저항 성능 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Predicting Ship Resistance Performance due to Surface Roughness Using CFD)

  • In recent, shipping companies have made an enormous effort to improve the operation of vessel in various approaches, due to recession of shipping market and increasing competition among shipping companies. One of important parameters for improving the efficiency of vessel is the resistance performance that consist of friction and residual resistance. Especially, it is recognized that the friction resistance tends to be affected by conditions of vessel’s surface and occupies approximately 70~90% of the total resistance for slow speed ships. In general, the surface of vessel is covered with various type of paint to reduce fouling and corrosion. As time goes by, however, it is so hull roughness would be increased by fouling over the wetted surface that anti-fouling paints, such as CDP(Controlled Depletion Paint), Tin-Free SPC(Self Polishing Co-polymer) or Foul Release, are applied evenly on the hull surface. Nevertheless, these anti-fouling paints could not prevent fouling absolutely. A fundamental study on evaluating ship resistance performance variation due to hull roughness has been performed using a commercial software, Star-CCM+, which solves the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible and viscous flow. The results of present simulation for plate are compared with some experimental data available and the effect of surface roughness to ship resistance performance is discussed.

구리의 내식성에 미치는 어닐링 열처리의 영향 (Effect of Annealing Heat Treatment to Corrosion Resistance of a Copper)

  • Copper is a well known alloying element that is used to improve the resistance to general corrosion of stainless steel And also Cu cation have the anti-fouling effect to inhibit adhesion of the marine algae and shellfish to the surface of heat exchanger cooling pipe or outside wall of the ship, Therefore there are some anti-fouling methods such as anti-fouling Paint mixed with copper oxide or MGPS(Marine Growth Preventing System) by using Cu cation dissolved to the sea wather solution. Cu cation can be dissolved spontaneously by galvanic current due to Potential difference between Cu and cooling pipe of heat exchanger with Ti material, which may be one of the anti-fouling designs. In this study the effect of annealing heat treatment to galvanic current and Polarization behavior was investigated with a electrochemical points of view such as measurement of corrosion Potential, anodic polarization curve. cyclic voltammetric curve, galvanic current etc The grain size of the surface in annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ was the smallest than that of other annealing temperatures. and also the corrosion Potential showed more positive potential than other annealing temperatures. The galvanic current between Ti and Cu with annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ was the largest value in the case of static condition. However its value in the case of flow condition was the smallest than the other temperatures. Therefore in order to increase anti-fouling effect by Cu cation, the optimum annealing temperature in static condition of sea water is $700^{\circ}C$, however non- heat treated specimen in the case of flow condition may be desirable.

국내 선박용 도료의 VOCs 함량분포 및 오존생성기여도에 관한 연구 (The Analysis on the VOCs Contents and Ozone Production Contribution of A Marine Paint in Korea)

  • In this research, a few paints in the shipyard were selected and analyzed for the component and ozone production in marine paint using TVOC and GC/FID, ozone generation index (MIR, POCP) to establish measures of $VOC_s$ effectively. The concentrations of TVOC ranged between approximately 300~400 g/L and 400~500 g/L, respectively and these showed 37% of whole. Our results indicated that the main constituents of marine paints were m,p,oxylene (49%), ethyl benzene (10%), toluene (8%) and 2-propanol (5%). It was also found that xylene concentration have relatively higher impact on ozone generation. The types of paints were also investigated for their potentials. The biggest contributor was the 1 Pack Finish paint. The rest is, in their contributing order, 1 Pack Finish paint, 2 pack Finish paint, Anti-fouling paint, 2 Pack A/C paint, Ballast paint and 1 Pack A/C paint.

Quaternary Ammonium Salt를 도입한 방오도료용 폴리우레탄 수지 (Antifouling Paint Resin Based on Polyurethane Matrix with Quaternary Ammonium Salt)

  • 최근 해양 산업에서는 해양환경에 잔류성은 없으면서 방오성능은 우수한 새로운 종류의 방오도료 수지 개발이 해결해야 할 시급한 과제로 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 폴리우레탄계 수지를 방오도료용 수지로 적용하여 평가하였다. Polyethylene glycol(PEG), 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate(MDI) 2,2'-bis(hydroxyl methyl)propionic acid(DMPA)를 사용하여 중합한 후 방오성능을 발휘하는 치환기로서 quaternary ammonium salt를 치환시켰다. 합성된 수지는 최종적으로 필름화하여 해수 내에서의 마모특성을 확인하였다. 그 결과, PEG의 분자량이 600인 방오도료용 폴리우레탄 수지의 기계적 물성이 가장 양호함을 알 수 있었으며, quaternary ammonium salt의 함량이 일정 이상으로 많은 경우에는 수지에 대한 부착력이 저하됨을 확인하였다.
