The purpose of this study is to measure middle-aged men's bodies around the ages of thirty-five through fifty-five, whose age-group undergoes drastic changes on their body shapes, and to reveal their physical characteristics by comparing the measurements. Sixty Body measurements were taken on 168 subjects. Statistics analysis of data used Oneway Anova, Correlation, Fator Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Crosstabs. Body shapes are grouped based on the measurements, and TypeI is characterized by small and middle-sized body shapes. Tall and obese body shapes belong to TypeII. Lastly, TypeIII is characterized by body shapes with very tall height and obesity, especially around the abdomen area.
The purpose of this study was to classify and analyze the lower body of adult female and to provide it'stotal data for clothing construction. The subjects were 82 Korean adult females and their age range is from 19 to 24 years old. 42 variables (10 variables from the direct anthropometric data, 2 variables from the multiplication method and 30 variables from the indirect anthropometric data) in total were applies to analyze(means, standard deviations, factor analysis, cluster analysis) The result of factor analysis indicated that 10 factors were extract'cd through factor analysis and orthogonal rotation by the method of varimax and those factors comprise 82. 5 percent of total variance. The obesity of lower body was closely related to hip angle indicated the degree of drooping hip was extracted a independent factor, not influenced by other variance. And somatotype of lower body is classified by cluster analysis, using the FASTCLUS of SAS. To classify the lower body, two kinds of silhouette, front- back and side were applied to analize. The front- back silhouette was subdivided into five groups and the side silhouette four.
The purpose of this study is providing basic information to make torso and original design of clothing of the old. Grasping the body of the old was advanced and made specific types. The objects of this study are 320 people whose age is 60 .approx. 85 and we extracted forming factors of a body by factor analysis about 57 items and we made types of a body by cluster analysis. Principal component analysis which is one of the basic methods in factor analysis was applied to the interpretation of anthropometric data. As a result of data are able to be decided into appropriate group
Today the number of the disabled people with a spinal cord injury is increasing by the acquired factor. The purpose of the study is to furnish basic data for the study of satisfactory clothing construction data by considering the physical variation by the time passed the since the injury. Also the study includes the actual measuring of the disabled men with spinal cord injuries which is compared with the data of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea and makes it possible to grasp the distinguished physical feature of the disabled men with the spinal cord injury. As a result, first, the measured data are smaller than those of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea in the items of height and length of the upper half of the body related to stature. Second, the measured data are bigger than those of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea in the items of breadth, depth and circumference of the upper half of the body related to the exercise. Third, there are differences in the items of depth of the lower half of the body, breadth and circumference in the analysis of the time passed since the injury.
This study attempts to measure body sizes and somatotypes of 844 female middle and high students girls in their growth period and to investigate characteristics of each of the measured somatotypes. The data used for this study were 50 items of body sizes obtained from anthropometric measurements. The purposes of the study are as follows: 1. to analyze physical characteristics according to age. 2. to extract factors of somatotypes using factor analyses. 3. to classify somatotypes according to physical characteristics using cluster analyses. The study results were as follows: 1. TH anthropometric measurements indicated that three existed collective patterns of somatotypes across Group I(12∼13 years old), Group II(14∼15 years old), and Group III(16∼18 years old). 2. Through factor analyses, 6 factors were yielded from each age group. The cumulative proportions of these factors were 77% for Group I, 75% for Group II, and 72% for Group III. Factor I indicates a horizontal size factor and Factor 2 indicates a vertical size factor. 3. Group I and Group II ere classified into 5 types and Group III was classified as 3 types. In Group I, middle height and a little slim types were most prevalent(28%). In Group II, low height and very slim types were most prevalent(28.9%). Finally, In Group III, low height and slim types were most prevalent(4.6%)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the anthropometric and blood biochemical characteristics, the dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles of obese children in Incheon. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using anthropometric measurements, biochemical assessments and questionnaire analysis. The subjects included 7,055 obese children residing in the Incheon area (from 106 elementary schools). The degree of obesity was classified using the Obesity Index (OI) as light 20% < OI < 30% ; Medium 30% < OI < 50% ; Severe 50% > OI. The statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 10.0 program. Most subjects fell within the medium range of obesity. Most subjects had dietary problems such as overeating, unbalanced meals and skipping breakfast. The ratio of boy subjects eating green and yellow vegetables was lowe. when compared to that of the girl subjects. The boy subjects exercised more frequently and longer than the girls. As the Obesity Index increased, hypercholesterolemia significantly increased. The blood cholesterol levels of the subjects were positively correlated with body fat, waist/hip ratio and BMI; HDL cholesterol levels of the subjects were negatively correlated with the anthropometric data and the LDL cholesterol levels of the subjects were positively correlated with body fat. The blood triglycerides levels of the subjects were positively correlated with body weight, body fat, waist/hip ratio and BMI. Therefore, proper nutritional education and intervention are required for an improvement of obese children's dietary behavior, heath-related factors and blood lipid profiles.
The anthropometric measurement and the photometric measurement for have been conducted 358 children from 4 years old to 6 years old to design children's clothing. The characteristics of body type were grasped among total 44 measurement items according to the aging, being extracted seven factors from factor analysis. From cluster analysis among the seven factors the three body types were classified. Type 1 shows low fat body with a small figure and short upper body. The body has a round belly and waist. Type 2 shows the fattest body with an average height. The body has been backed with lower shoulders. Type 3 shows common fat body with a high height and a big figure. The body shows crooked round back with a big upper body and rising shoulders.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic information for elderly women's clothing construction and to develop dress form that can reflect the characteristics of their bodies. Three hundred twenty subjects, between the ages of 60∼85, were chosen and the data were collected from 59 anthropometric measurements of each subject. Data were analyzed by factor analysis of principal component model, cluster analysis, analysis of variance and duncan test. The results are as follows : 1. A decrease in height, an enlargement of the waist and abdomen area, and a dropped bustline are characteristics of elderly women. The upper-torso droops as a ge increase 2. Seven factors were extracted from anthropometric measurements. Factor components were obesity, height, shoulder shaper, the center front bodice length, the center back bodice length, the bust and neck shape, the degree and level of scapular protusion. 3. After analyzing seven factors, four types were categorized.
Fitness of clothes becomes a major concern in apparel industry. But high-school boys had difficulties to buy ready-made clothes of good fit. To solve this problem, it is necessary to classify boys' upper body into several kinds of somatotypes. The purpose of this study was to classify upper body types of high school boys based on the analysis of their upper body types. The subjects for anthropometric measurement were 99 high school boys of 16 to 18 year-old. The result of factor analysis indicated that 5 factors were extracted from anthropometric measurements through analysis and those factors comprise 68.44% of total variance. 3 clusters were categorized using 5 factor scores by cluster analysis. Type 1 was taller than other types and was bending somatotype. Type 2 was straight somatotype and had average size. Type 3 was characterized by short and small figure and had bending somatotype.
In this study, the representative hand shapes for the adult Koreans were analyzed by factor analysis and cluster analyses. The analyses were conducted on the anthropometric data of 58 hand dimensions from 325 subjects having nonhomogeneous demographics. Maximum hand circumference, first phalanx length of index finger, and ratio between the two measures were the independent variables for the cluster analyses. The results of the study showed that Korean hand shapes can be divided into 2 clusters irrespective of their size for each of the male and female group. There were slight differences in component ratio of hand shapes with respect to the occupation and the age, but their differences were not statistically significant. The representative Korean hand shapes and their anthrpometric dimensions could be used to design and establish proper sizing system for various hand operating devices.
