  • It is necessary to have a dummy that describes the anthropometry of a victim with accuracy. This study presents three scaled side impact dummies constructed for the use of MADYMO. They represent five, fifty and ninety-five percentile Korean males ranged from the age of 25 through 39. Thirty-five anthropometric data were used to scale input files required for MADYSCALE. Geometries, inertia, joints and other parameters for dummies were scaled based on the configurations of EuroSID-1. This study proposes the lateral impact response requirements for head, thorax and pelvis of Korean side impact dummies. A lateral drop impact test was conducted for the head at the height of 200 mm. Lateral pendulum impact tests were also carried out for thorax and pelvis at three specific impact velocities. All these test results were obtained from simulation based on MADYMO. All the procedures of the three tests followed the requirement of ISO/TR 9790.

  • This study was conducted to determine the image of functional foods and the meal patterns for health behavior of 242 persons in Daegu area. Anthropometric data showed that female and male were 38, and 204 respectively. The most BMI group was standard group(55.4% )The most eaten functional foods were Lactobicilli goods while the lowest functional foods were Taurine goods. The highest functional food image score on the basis of Likert's 5 scales was 3.89(expensive) and the lowest score was 2.98 (experienced in eating functional food). Accepted food groups were significantly associated with eating rate of protein food and age(p < 0.01),eating rate of cabohydrate foods and sex(p < 0.05), eating rate of mineral foods and monthly average income, eating rate of vitamin foods and sex.

  • This research examines classifying and characterizing breast form's classification on elderly women, 242 subjects from 55 to 75 years of age participated. 27 direct anthropometric measurement were applied to classify the breast typesl. We analyzed measurement data using factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance. The results of the study were as follows. 1) 55-64 aged group was taller and higher than 65-79 aged group. Typical breast form in 55-64 aged group was more obese than breast form in 65-79 aged group. 2) We extracted 5 factors(obesity of breast, height of breast, height of breast items, location & size of breast, width of upper chest & shouldet length, height of breast & lower length of nipples) from total items through factor analysis. 3) Through cluster analysis, we categorized 3 clusters. Namely, type 1; characterized the best slender type, type 2; characterized middle sized type, type 3: characterized obesity type. Type 2 is the typical type on elderly women.

  • This study was undertaken to assess eating habits of 230 rural elementary school students living in ChunNam province. Anthropometric data showed that their mean height of girl students was significantly higher than that of boy students. Irregular eating pattern of girl students was noted. There was a significant difference in concerning on weight control between girls and boys. Girls especially view themselves as too obese even though their weight was in normal range and they were more concerned on weight control due to appearance. Nutrition education at school was an important factor ruling out peaky eating habits in participants. More effective nutrition education might be suggested to form a good eating habit which result in maintenance of ideal weight and promote health for rural elementary school students.

  • A study on the change of cardiothoracic ratio by age calculated from photofluorography film of chest in a total of the 8,115 insureds was undertaken. The results were as follows: 1. The incidence of cardiothoracic ratio of high value increased gradually with age. 2. At the same build, the average cardiothoracic ratio increased gradually with age. 3. Larger the build index was, the incidence of higher cardiothoracic ratio increased. 4. It seemed that the change of cardiothoracic ratio by age was influenced mainly by age and build(the change of build by age) from $18{\sim}19$ to $40{\sim}49$ age group and by age itself in $50{\sim}59$ age group and over. 5. The average cardiothoracic ratio of $30{\sim}39$ age group in male or female was approximate to that of all ages group respectively.

  • It is necessary to have a model that describes the anthropometry of the crash victim with a sufficient accuracy Koreans, however, do not have their own pedestrian dummies to be used in pedestrian collision tests. They have to use European and American dummies for their safety analysis. In this study scaled pedestrian dummies were constructed by using MADYMO. The dummies represent Korean average males and females aged from 25 to 29. The scaled Korean dummies and MADYMO human models were used to obtain and compare the pedestrian dynamic behaviors and injury criteria during the impact events.

  • According to the pedestrian protection regulations of Europe and Japan, the head injury must not exceed a limitation in the defined test condition for the protection of pedestrians from a vehicle crash. However, it is difficult to evaluate the performance of protection because each regulation has different test conditions such as dummy, impact speed and so on. This circumstance needs the development of a model that describes the anthropometry of the crash victim with a sufficient accuracy. We constructed scaled pedestrian dummies using MADYSCALE. Simulations were performed for various crash speeds and pedestrian postures. The scaled Korean dummies and HybridIII dummies were used to compare the pedestrian dynamic behaviors and head injury criteria during the collision. The HIC values of scaled korean dummies were found to be higher than those of Hybrid III dummies. The impact for gait posture was less than that for standing.

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results selected one somatotype. for the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body, there dimensional clothing shapes measured. and cross-sectional clothing shape obtained by the measurement was considered to be space wave form. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form, and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. • Purpose: This study examined the demographic and lifestyle differences between women with osteopenia and those with normal bone mineral density (BMD) to identify risk factors for osteopenia. Method: Participants comprised 381 women age 40-64 years. Data were collected using surveys, BMD measures, and anthropometric parameters. Results: Prevalence of osteopenia was 29.1%; significant differences in age group, job, age at menarche, age at menopause, and body mass index were found between women with osteopenia and those with normal BMD. Logistic regression analysis indicated that advanced age, unemployment, lower body mass index, and lack of exercise in women were significantly associated with osteopenia. Conclusion: This study suggests the need for strategies to improve bone health and continuous cohort studies to identify risk factors.

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the somatotype based on the side view and to analyze the characteristics of each somatotype. The subjects were 201 middle-aged women aged from 35 to 54. Data were collected through anthropometry and photometry and analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance, and discriminant analysis. As the result of factor analysis for the classification of somatotypes, 6 factors which explain 80.8% of variance were extracted from 35 photometric measurement. Using factor scores cluster analysis was carried out and the subjects were classified into 4 cluster Each cluster was classified as straight type, turning over type, bending type and swayback according to its position to the relative plumb line and their side view contour. And 4 somatotypes were analyzed by theirs direct anthropometric and indirect Photometric measurment to represent physical characteristics of each group.
