Meteor Burst Communication can provide effective and economical means of communication where long distance VHF NLOS data transmission is needed ; often ranges more than 1000 km. It has been, however, so far considered unsuitable for short distance application because of phenomenal decrease in burst durations, which leads to decreation of total duty rate of the system. This paper extensively analyzes characteristics of shot distance MB(Meteor Burst) path and shows the low duty rate may be improved by increasing burst rate through adapting antennal beam width to cover entire hot-spot region in the space and, by compensating effective burst length throughcutting down man-made noises introduced by antennal. Based on the analysis, we are developed a small-opening-cavity antennal, especially designed for short distance MB path. In operation, the antenna is to be buried under ground surface so as to improve directivity and reduces noise introduction. The antennal exhibits power gain of 3 dB with 90 degree beam width and thus enables to illuminate entire hot-spot regions with the elevation angle of 8-90 degree which is the case of transmission less than 100 km. Directivity horizontal to earth surface is suppressed to minimum which enables to cut man-made noises from near-by sources down to more than 3 dB from the level reported with conventional 4 element Yagi. A series of experiments performed on 100km MB paths have conformed that, with the antenna installed at receiving site, the burst rate and duration time have been noticed to increase by 10 and 20 percent respectively from the values obtained by conventional 4-element Yagi antennal under same testing condition.

Pipe spool is the most important element of plant equipment in plant construction site. Currently, the plant construction site manage the pipe spool location and usage history by handwriting. Frequently, the pipe spool is moved to unpredictable places by field workers in many construction sites and in cases like this, the pipe stool is replaced with another similar pipe spool. Since it's hard to determine the exact location of some of the pipe spools, it takes unnecessary time and labour to find the missing pipe spools, which proves that stock management is not under control. The purpose of our system is to make the identification of real-time location of the field pipes possible by attaching UHF RFID tags to the pipe spool, which will be used to connect with UHF RFID reader and antenna on vehicles. A field test conducted by the proposed system resulted in the success rate of 98% and the missing 2% was recuperated by hands-on correction, which proved that stock management through the proposed method can be 100% effective. The proposed system is expected to reduce labour costs and make stock control of assets possible, as well as applicable to similar stock management environments.

A RF environmental field test for the proposed Galileo Sensor Station site was done by Alcatel Alenia technical team contracted by European Space Agency (ESA) and the Space Geodesy division of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute at the Korean VLBI Hetwork (KVN) site in Tamla University Campus, Jeju from June 21, 2007 to June 24, 2007. Full band and in-band 24 hour observation for radio frequency interference, precise positioning, and multipath on three proposed antenna locations for Galileo signal were executed. The main purpose of this survey is to verify the results of previous test on 2006 by KASI. The preliminary analysis of the results and a full investigation also had been done by ESA under the permission of KASI until the end of July, 2007.

The partial discharge testing is widely used in diagnostic measuring technology because it gives low stress to power equipment which is undertaken tests. Therefore it is very useful method compare to previous destructive methods and effective diagnosis method in power system that requires on-line/on-site diagnosis. But partial discharges have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern, so it is required continuous research to development of precise analysis method. In recent, the study of partial discharge is carrying out discover of initial defect of power equipment through condition diagnosis and system development of degradation diagnosis using HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) detection. In this study, simulated system is manufactured and HFPD occurred from those simulator is measured with broad-band antenna in real time, the degradation grade of system is analyzed through produced patterns in simulated target according to the AI/statistics processing.

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal gets delayed as it goes through the troposphere before reaching the GNSS antenna. Various tropospheric models are being used to correct the tropospheric delay. In this study, we compared effectiveness of two popular troposphere correction models: Global Pressure and Temperature (GPT) and Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS). One-year data from a particular site was chosen as the test case. Tropospheric delays were computed using the GPT and SBAS models and compared with the International GNSS Service tropospheric product. The bias of SBAS model computations was 3.4 cm, which is four times lower than that of the GPT model. The cause of higher biases observed in the GPT model is the fact that one cannot get wet delays from the model. If SBAS-based wet delays are added to the hydrostatic delays computed using the GPT model, then the accuracy is similar to that of the full SBAS model. From this study, one can conclude that it is better to use the SBAS model than to use the GPT model in the standard code-pseudorange data processing.

Due to their excellent optical and electrochemical properties, conjugated polymers have attracted much attention over the last two decades and employed to opto-electrical devices. In particular, conjugated polymers possess many attractive features that make them suitable for a variety of sensing task. For example, their delocalized electronic structures can be strongly modified by varying the surrounding environment, which significantly affected molecular energy level. In other word, conjugated polymers can detect and transduce the environmental information into a fluorescence signal. Conjugated polymers also display amplified quenching compared to small molecule counterparts. This amplified fluorescence quenching is attributed to the delocalization and migration of the excitons along the conjugated polymer backbones. Long backbones of conjugated polymer provide the transporting path for electron as a conduit, allowing that excitons migrate rapidly into quencher site along the backbone. This is often referred to as the molecular wire effect or antenna effect. Moreover, structures of conjugated polymers can be easily tailored to adjust solubility, absorption/emission properties, and regulation of electron/energy transfer. Based on this versatility, conjugated polymers have been utilized to many novel sensory platforms as a promising material. In this tutorial, I will highlight a variety of fluorescence sensors base on conjugated polymer and explain their sensory mechanism together with selected examples from reference literatures.

Defense Systems Test Center in ADD supports increasingly various missile test requirements such as higher altitude event, multi target operation and low-altitude, high velocity target tracking. In this paper, we have proposed the development of instrumentation radar tracking status simulator based on virtual reality. This simulator can predict the tracking status and risk of failure using several modeling algorithms. It consists of target model, radar model, environment model and several algorithms includes the multipath interference effects. Simulation results show that the predict tracking status and signal are similar to the test results of the live flight test. This simulator predicts and analyze all of the status and critical parameters such as the optimal site location, servo response, optimal flight trajectory, LOS(Line of Sight). This simulator provides the mission plan with a powerful M&S tool to rehearse and analyze instrumentation tracking radar measurement plan for live flight test at DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center).
In this paper as a follow-up to Paper I, the required fade margin derived in Paper I to preserve the same service quality has been examined by analyzing system and propagation characteristics as well as measured data. The comparison of the fade margin between simulated and measured results is also performed for the actual operating line-of-sight(LOS) and non-LOS links, and practical usefulness as an analysis tool is revealed by checking service quality of M/W system relevant to frequency reallocation. According to simulated and measured results, there was a little difference for LOS link between Mt. Moodung and Mt. Mangun, but a fairly good agreement was reached for non-LOS link between Andong KBS and transmitter site.
The DGNSS Central Office operates 17 DGNSS reference stations. Compared to the other DGNSS sites, the TEQC data quality of some sites is poorer. In this study, we tried to find out the causes that degrade the quality of GPS data for the purpose of improving the signal quality of the DGNSS stations. We selected the Chungju station that is the one of those stations with bad data quality. Through the on-site visit, we found that there is no signal-blocking obstacles. In addition to site surveys, we conducted two experiments; simultaneous observation considering environmental factors and comparison test through equipment replacements to check the malfunctioning of GPS equipments. In the simultaneous test results, we realized that environmental factors do not induce any bad effects on the data quality. In equipment replacement experiments, we confirmed that the data quality is of excellent quality when the test receiver was used instead of the original one installed at the site. When we replaced the antenna instead of the receiver, the data quality was bad. Through those two experiments, we concluded that the receiver is the main factor that degrades the signal quality.

Several observation equipments are being used for determination of the water vapor content and precipitable water vapor (PWV) because the water vapor is highly variable temporally and spatially. In this study, we used GNSS systems such as GPS and GLONASS in standalone and combined modes to compute PWV and validated their accuracy with respect to the results of other water-vapor monitoring systems. The other systems used were radiosonde and microwave radiometer, and the comparisons were convenient because all three systems were collocated at the test site. The differences of PWW were in the range of 0.6-3.4 mm in the mean sense, and their standard deviations were 1.0-3.8 mm. The relatively large difference of GNSS compared with the other two systems were believed to be caused by the fact that the GNSS antenna used in this study was the kind for which the international standard of phase center variations (PCV) calibration is not available. We expect better accuracy of PWV determination and improved availability of it through integrated data processing of GPS/GLONASS when an appropriate antenna with PCV correction model is used.
