다변량 분석법에 의한 Anionic Surfactant와 Nonionic Surfactant의 동시정량 (Simultaneous Determination of Anionic and Nonionic Surfactants Using Multivariate Calibration Method)

  • 흡수 분광법에 의해 얻은 스펙트럼을 주성분분석(principal analysis, PCA) 으로 자료를 요약하여 주성분 회귀분서(principal component regression, PCR)과 부분 최소자승법(partial least squares, PLS)으로 음이온과 비이온 계면활성제(anionic and nonionic surfactant)를 동시에 정량하는 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 두 가지 계면활성제가 서로 다른 농도로 혼합되어 있는 26개의 시료용액을 400~700 nm 범위에서 스펙트럼을 얻었고, 이를 이용하여 PCR과 PLS회귀모델을 얻었다. 두 가지 계면활성제가 서로 다른 농도로 포함된 5개의 외부검정용 시료들의 스펙트럼들을 이용해서 회귀모델의 적합성을 검정하기 위하여 외부검정용 시료의 농도를 계산하였다. 계산된 농도를 이용하여 relative standard error of prediction(RSEP$_{\alpha}$)를 구하여 회귀모델의 적합성을 검정하였다.

Precipitation, Resolubilization and Luminescent Properties of Tris (2,2$^\prime$-diimine)Ruthenium(II) Complexes in Premicellar Anionic Surfactant Solutions

  • Premicellar precipitation, resolubilization and luminescing behaviors of $RuL_3^{2+}$ (L = bpy, phen, $Me_2bpy$) in aqueous alkylsulfate and sulfonate solutions were studied. Addition of the anionic surfactants to $RuL_3\;^{2+}$ solutions caused initial precipitation which was redissolved by further addition of the surfactants. The apparent solubility products $K_{sp}$'s of the precipitates were evaluated assuming 1:2 salt formation. The values were smaller as the ligand is more hydrophobic and the length of hydrocarbon chain of the surfactant is longer. The $K_{sp}$ values for L = bpy were constant over wide surfactant concentration range. However, those for L = $Me_2bpy$ and also for phen, but to less extent, increased with the surfactant concentration. The resolubilization of 1:2 salts was followed by red-shift of emission band and extensive emission quenching above critical concentration of the surfactants. The critical concentration was lower for more hydrophobic surfactant. For L = $Me_2bpy$, the blue-shifted emission band with enhanced emission intensity was observed in intermediate surfactant concentration region. The high ionic strength of media prevented the precipitate formation, but facilitated the red-shift of the emission bands. The results support that the precipitate is dissolved by accretion of surfactant anions to the salts to form water-soluble surfactant-rich $RuL_3$-surfactant anionic species. These species appeared to aggregate cooperatively to produce large clusters which exhibited the red-shifted emission.

양이온성 계면활성제 거품 지속성 증진방법 연구 (Enhancement in Stability of Foam Generated with Cationic Surfactant Solutions)

  • 계면활성제 거품(foam)을 아예 형성하지 못하거나 foam 지속도가 매우 낮은 양이온성 계면활성제의 foam 지속성을 높이는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 음이온성 계면활성제를 보조제로 첨가하는 방법, 콜로이드를 혼합하는 방법, 수용성 수지인 폴리비닐알콜을 첨가하는 방법 등 다양한 시도를 평가하였다. 각 5% 양이온성 계면활성제 용액의 foam 지속도를 평가한 결과, Cationic starch (CA-ST)는 foam이 전혀 발생되지 않았지만, Methyl triethanol ammonium methyl sulfate distearyl ester (CEQ90)의 foam 지속시간은 평균 46초, Cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CM29)는 평균 31초로서 매우 낮았다. 음이온성 계면활성제 Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) 첨가는 양이온성 계면활성제의 종류에 따라 지속도가 매우 다르게 나타났다. Cationic starch (CA-ST)의 foam 지속도는 매우 크게 증가된 반면 CEQ90와 CM29는 오히려 감소되었다. 콜로이드($SiO_2$, kaolin) 혼합이 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도에 미치는 영향을 평가한 결과, CA-ST는 콜로이드 혼합시 foam이 전혀 발생되지 않았고, CEQ90과 CM29는 콜로이드를 주입하였을 경우 주입을 하지 않았을 때보다 지속도가 높아졌다. 수용성수지인 polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)첨가가 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도에 미치는 영향을 평가한 결과, CA-ST는 PVA혼합에서도 foam이 전혀 발생 되지 않았지만, CEQ90과 CM29는 PVA의 농도가 높을수록 foam 지속도가 증가하였다. 양이온성 계면활성제에 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS와 콜로이드를 동시에 첨가한 결과 콜로이드보다 음이온성 계면활성제에 의해 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도가 결정되었다. 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS와 PVA를 동시에 첨가하여 평가한 결과 PVA보다 역시 음이온성 계면활성제에 의해 양이온성 계면활성제의 foam 지속도가 결정되었다. Foam을 전혀 형성하지 못했던 양이온성 계면활성제인 CA-ST는 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS 0.14%, PVA 2.5% 첨가 조건에서 foam 지속시간이 평균 8,780초로 획기적으로 증가하였고 타 양이온성 계면활성제 CEQ90 보다 약 8배 이상의 지속시간을 보여주었다. 본 연구결과 foam이 형성되지 않거나 지속시간이 매우 짧은 양이온성 계면활성제는 음이온성 계면활성제를 첨가할 경우 foam형성에 도움을 받을 수 있고 colloid 및 PVA 등의 보조를 통해 양이온성 계면활성제의 지속도를 혁신적으로 증가시킬 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 양이온 계면활성제의 foam 지속도는 음이온성 계면활성제의 첨가농도에 의해 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 보인다.

반전유화법에 의한 유화아스팔트의 안정성 연구 (A Study on the Stabilization of Asphalt Emulsion with Phase Inversion Emulsification Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 아스팔트가 가지는 단점을 보완하고자 아스팔트를 비이온 계면활성제(Span 80, Span 60, Tween 80, 및 Tween 60), 음이온 계면활성제(SLS), 및 양이온 계면활성제(Imidazole)를 변량 배합하여 반전유화법으로 아스팔트 에멀젼을 제조하였다. 유화아스팔트의 안정성을 규명하고자 입자크기, 점도, 제타전위, 및 내수성을 고찰하였다. 비이온 계면활성제와 음이온 계면활성제를 혼합 사용할 경우 유화아스팔트의 안정성은 우수하였으며 계면활성제의 양이 증가함에 따라 입자크기는 감소하였고, 반면에 점도와 제타전위 및 내수성은 증가하였다.

Surface Tentiometric Studies on the Interaction of Anionic Polyelectrolytes with Cationic Surfactants

  • The interaction of cationic surfactants, n-alkyltrimethylammonium bromide ($C_nTAB$; n = 12, 14, 16) with anionic polyelectrolyte, poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) has been studied by surface tension measurement. In the absence of added salt, the cationic surfactants bind to PSS quantitatively up to ca. 60% coverage of anionic sites of the polyanion and the complexes were surface inactive. Further binding of the surfactant cations on PSS caused a sharp conformational transition of the surfactant/ PSS complexes to surface active complexes and accompanied precipitation. The binding showed a biphasic behavior in the presence of NaCl and cooperativity of the binding became less as the concentration of NaCl increased. Binding of the cationic surfactants on poly(vinylsulfonate) also showed the biphasic behavior and the cooperativity of the binding was much less even in the absence of NaCl. The binding of surfactant to PSS provided hydrophobic environment to solubilized pyrene and reduced the viscosity of the solution greatly even at surfactant concentrations well below cmc. This study indicated that the surfactant bound to PSS up to $60{\%}$ coverage of PSS sites are present as surfactant aggregates which are wrapped up with PSS chains, and hydrophobic interaction is an important factor in the binding of the surfactants to PSS.

Synergism effect of mixed surfactant solutions in remediation of soil contaminated with PCE

  • The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of mixed surfactant solution for removal of perchloroethylene (PCE) in soil. Ten different surfactant solutions were used in column studies. Mixed surfactant solutions (anionic and nonionic) were most effectively worked in the sandy soil for removal of PCE as a result of synergism between the two types of surfactants. The effectiveness of the mixture of surfactants was 35 % greater than that for the anionic or nonionic surfactant alone. The results indicate that mixed surfactant solution leaching is a promising candidate for the remediation of PCE contaminated sandy soil.

오염복원에 있어서의 계면활성제의 선택 (Rational Selection of Surfactant in Surfactant-Based Remediation)

  • 계면활성제는 소수성 화합물로 오염된 토양과 대수층을 복원하는데 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 톨루엔으로 오염된 사질토양을 복원하는데 사용될 수 있는 적당한 계면활성제들의 선택과 선택된 계면활성제들이 얼마나 효과적으로 톨루엔을 제거하는가를 연구하는데 있다. 사용된 토양은 Ottawa 사질 토양이며, 이용된 유기오염물질은 톨루엔이었다. 6종의 계면활성제의 선택은 독성도, 용해도 등에 따라 이루어졌으며, 이들을 이용한 계면활성제들의 선택실험 방법은 separatory funnel 실험과 shaker table agitation and centrifugation 실험이다. HLB 및 표면장력과 본 연구의 실험 결과에 의하여 6종의 계면활성제 중 가장 효율적인 종으로 Sandopan JA36(an anionic surfactant)과 Pluronic L44(a nonionic surfactant)가 선택되었다. 최고의 톨루엔 회수율 96%는 Sandopan JA36를 사용한 shaker table agitation and centrifugation 실험에서 얻었다.

음이온/비이온 계면활성제의 미셀상승 효과 (Synergistic Effect of Mixed Anionic/Nonionic Surfactant Micelles)

  • A proposed method of determining the composition of mixed micelles in equilibrium with monomer of known composition is described. The systems were sodium ${\alpha}-sulfonated$ dodecanoyl ethyl esther (${\alpha}-SR_{12}Et$) or sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)-polyoxyethylene 23 lauryl ether (Brij 35) un water and in 0.1M sodium chloride solution at $25^{\circ}C$. This technique applies the Gibbs-Duhem equation to the mixed micelles, which is treated as a pseudophase. This proposed methodology, which needs only critical micelle concentration data as a function of monomer composition, is applied to an anionic/nonionic surfactant pair. The calculated monomer-micelle equilibrium is found to be very similar to the much-used regular solution for nonideal systems.

Phase Behavior and Spontaneous Vesicle Formation in Aqueous Solutions of Anionic Ammonium Dodecyl Sulfate and Cationic Octadecyl Trimethyl Ammonium Chloride Surfactants

  • Phase behavior for the mixed aqueous surfactant systems of cationic octadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (OTAC)/anionic ammonium dodecyl sulfate (ADS)/water was examined. Below the total surfactant concentrations of 1.5 m molal, mixed micelles were formed. At the total surfactant concentrations higher than 1.5 m molal, there appeared a region where mixed micelles and vesicles coexist. As the surfactant concentration increased, the systems looked very turbid and much more vesicles were observed. The vesicles were spontaneously formed in this system and their existence was observed by negative-staining transmission electron microscopy (TEM), small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) and encapsulation efficiency of dye. The vesicle region was where the molar fraction α of ADS to the total mixed surfactant was from 0.1 to 0.7 and the total surfactant concentration was above 5 × 10-4 molality. The size and structure of the vesicles were determined from the TEM microphotographs and the SANS data. Their diameter ranged from 450 nm to 120μm and decreased with increasing total surfactant concentration. The lamellar thickness also decreased from 15 nm to 5 nm with increasing surfactant concentration and this may be responsible for the decrease in vesicle size with the surfactant concentration. The stability of vesicles was examined by UV spectroscopy and zeta potentiometry. The vesicles displayed long-term stability, as UV absorbance spectra remained unchanged over two months. The zeta potentials of the vesicles were large in magnitude (40-70 mV) and the observed longterm stability of the vesicles may be attributed to such high ζ potentials.

음이온성 유화제로 수식된 폴리락티드/글리코리드 공중합체 나노 입자와 백신의 결합성 (Binding of Vaccine and Poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) Nanoparticle Modified with Anionic Surfactant)

  • Recently, studies on intranasal mucosa delivery of influenza vaccine have been actively developed because of lack of pain and ease of administration. We studied on preparation of nanoparticle delivery system using biodegradable polymer as a poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) and their binding characteristics with vaccine. Three kinds of PLGA nanoparticles were prepared by spontaneous emulsification solvent diffusion (SESD) method using sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium laurate as an anionic surfactant and Lutrol F68 (polyethylene glycol-block-polypropylene glycol copolymer) as a nonionic surfactant. The 5-aminofluorescein labeled vaccine was coated on the surface of nanoparticles by ionic complex. The complexes between vaccine and nanoparticles were confirmed by change of the size. After vaccine coating on the surface of anionic nanoparticles, particle size was increased from 174 to 1,040 nm. However the size of nonionic nanoparticles was not more increased than size of anionic nanoparticles. The amount of coated vaccine on the surface of PLGA nanoparticles was $14.32\;{\mu}g/mg$ with sodium dodecyl sulfate, $12.41\;{\mu}g/mg$ with sodium laurate, and $9.47{\mu}g/mg$ with Lutrol F68, respectively. In conclusion, prepared nanoparticles in this study is possible to use as a virus-like nanoparticles and it could be accept in the field of influenza vaccine delivery system.
