A nonlinear adaptive flight control system is proposed using a backstepping controller with neural network controller. The backstepping controller is used to stabilize all state variables simultaneously without the two-timescale assumption that separates the fast dynamics, involving the angular rates of the aircraft, from the slow dynamics which includes angle of attack, sideslip angle, and bank angle. It is assumed that the aerodynamic coefficients include uncertainty, and an adaptive controller based on neural networks is used to compensate for the effect of the aerodynamic modeling error. It is shown by the Lyapunov stability theorem that the tracking errors and the weights of neural networks exponentially converge to a compact set. Finally, nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom simulation results for an F-16 aircraft model are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control law.
Resolvers are transducers that are used to sense the angular position of rotational machines. The analog resolver is necessary to use resolver to digital converter. Among the RDC software method, angle tracking observer (ATO) is the most popular method. In an actual resolver-based position sensing system, amplitude imbalance dominantly distorts the estimate position information of ATO. Minority papers have reported position error compensation of resolver's output signal with amplitude imbalance. This paper proposes new ATO algorithm in order to compensate position errors caused by the amplitude imbalance. There is no need premeasured off line data. This is easy, simple, cost-effective, and able to work on line compensation. To verify feasibility of the proposed algorithm, simulation and experiments are carried out.
A strategy for geostationary orbit (or geostationary earth orbit [GEO]) surveillance based on optical angular observations is presented in this study. For the dynamic model, precise analytical orbit model developed by Lee et al. (1997) is used to improve computation performance and the unscented Kalman filer (UKF) is applied as a real-time filtering method. The UKF is known to perform well under highly nonlinear conditions such as surveillance in this study. The strategy that combines the analytical orbit propagation model and the UKF is tested for various conditions like different level of initial error and different level of measurement noise. The dependencies on observation interval and number of ground station are also tested. The test results shows that the GEO orbit determination based on the UKF and the analytical orbit model can be applied to GEO orbit tracking and surveillance effectively.
This paper presents a technology of information data fusion between radar and ELINT electronic intelligence system. adar get the information of the range, direction and velocity of targets, and ELINT system get the information of the direction and angular velocity of the same targets at the same place and at the same time. Since we have some common information data of targets from radar and ELINT system, we can find the target on radar is same or not on ELINT system using the information data fusions. If the target on the radar is verified with the same target on ELINT system, we get more information of the target. e can analysis and identify the target exactly and reduce an ambiguity error of unknown targets.
Generally, The position of mobile robot moving on the plane is measured by the method of dead reckoning, using the encoder system coupled on a wheel axis. But it is noted that the encoder system cannot check the slip of a wheel, often occurring in tracking of the mobile robot. In this study, using velocity angular velocity sensor with a tuning fork vibration system, the system is developed which can measure the directional angle of positional variables on the mobile robot. By measuring the variations of tracking direction mobile robot equipped with this system, following result is found; In spite of the slip at a wheel when measuring the tracking directional angle, the error occurs in the range of .+-. 1 (degree).
This paper focuses on attitude stabilization performance improvement of the quadrotor flying robot. First, the dynamic model of quadrotor flying robot was estimated through PEM (Prediction Error Method) using experimental input/output data. And attitude stabilization performance was improved by increasing the generation frequency of PWM signal from 50 Hz to 500 Hz. Also, the controller is implemented using a standard PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller augmented with feedback on angular acceleration, allowed the gains to be significantly increased, yielding higher bandwidth. Improved attitude stabilization performance is verified by experiment.
The forward propagated ultrasonic fields resulting from a circular plane or a concave transducer in layered fluid media as well as in homogeneous water are theoretically estimated by the angular spectrum method(ASMJ) combined with Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction theory(RSDT), and measured by a precision 3-D scanning system with a needle-point hydrophone. To make the aliasing error negligible on the 2-D FFT in the theoretical estimation, the spatial discretization in the ASM are carefully considered for optimal selection of spatial sampling intervals and the size of discretization area. It is shown that the estimated fields agree reasonably with the measured ones.
The phased array antenna has the ability to perform adaptive sampling by directing the radar beam without inertia in any direction. The adaptive sampling capability of the phased array antenna allows each sampling time interval to be varied for each target, depending on the acceleration of each target at any time. In this paper we design a three-dimensional adaptive tracking algorithm for the phased array radar system with a given set of measurement parameters. The tracking algorithm avoids taking unnecessarily frequent samples, while keeping the angular prediction error within a fraction of antenna beamwidth so that the probability of detection will not be degraded during a track update illuminations. In our algorithm, the target model and the sampling rate are selected depending on the target range and the target maneuver status which is determined by a maneuver detector. A detailed simulation is conducted to test the validity of our tracking algorithm for encounter geometries under various conditions of maneuver.
This paper describes a measuring device of glass thickness using machine vision and image processing techniques on real-time. Today, the machine vision enable to inspect fast and exactly than human's eyes. The presented system has advantages of continuous measurement, flexibility and good accuracy. The system consists of a laser diode, a CCD camera with PC. The camera located on the opposite side of the incident beam measures the distance between two reflected laser beams from the glass top and bottom surface. We apply a binary algorithm to convert and analyze the image from camera to PC. Laser point coordination by border tracing algorithm is used to find the center of beam circle. The measured result was compared with micrometer and showed 0.002mm accuracy. Finally, the errors were discussed how to minimize the influence of glass wedge angle and angular error of moving stage.
This study was carried out to develop turning radius measuring method and device of using a DGPS speed sensor for agricultural tractors. The measurement system consisted of a DGPS speed sensor, a data acquisition device, a touch panel, a photo sensor, a radio modem and a notebook computer. Three methods were developed: average of turning speed-time method, integral of turning speed-time method, and speed-heading angular velocity method. Best method was average of turning speed-time method which could be used with a maximum error 2.7 cm.
