근위 상완골 골절에서 잠김 압박 금속판과 비잠김 금속판 고정의 방사선학적 임상적 추시 결과 비교 (Comparison of Radiologic and Clinical Results between Locking Compression Plate and Unlocked Plate in Proximal Humerus Fractures)

  • 목적: 근위 상완골 골절에서 잠김 압박 금속판과 비잠김 금속판 고정의 방사선학적 임상적 추시 결과를 비교 분석하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2003년부터 2007년 까지 본원에서 근위 상완골 골절로 입원하였던 87명의 환자중 금속판 고정술을 시행 받았던 환자 20명을 대상으로 하였으며 20명의 환자는 잠김 압박 금속판 고정을 시행하였던 환자 10명, 비잠김 금속판 고정을 시행하였던 환자 10명의 두 군으로 나뉘었다. 각각의 환자군은 수술 직후와 수술 후 6개월 뒤 방사선 사진상 상완골의 경간각, 골유합까지 소요된 시간, 합병증의 빈도 그리고 마지막 추시 당시의 Constant score를 측정하여 서로 비교 분석 하였다. 결과: 상완골의 경각간 및 골유합, Constant score에 대해서 두 군은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나 비잠김 금속판을 사용한 군에서 나사 풀림 현상이 3례에서 발견되었다. 결론: 추시 결과상 잠김 압박 금속판의 사용이 비잠김 금속판에 비하여 임상적, 방사선학적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으나 근위 상완골 골절의 치료에서 나사 풀림 현상 등의 합병증이 적은 잠김 압박 금속판을 사용하는 것이 더 효과적일 것으로 사료된다.

Free vibration and static analysis of functionally graded skew magneto-electro-elastic plate

  • This article presents a finite element (FE) model to assess the free vibration and static response of a functionally graded skew magneto-electro-elastic (FGSMEE) plate. Through the thickness material grading of FGSMEE plate is achieved using power law distribution. The coupled constitutive equations along with the total potential energy approach are used to develop the FE model of FGSMEE plate. The transformation matrix is utilized in bringing out the element matrix corresponding to the global axis to a local axis along the skew edges to specify proper boundary conditions. The effect of skew angle on the natural frequency of an FGSMEE plate is analysed. Further, the study includes the evaluation of the static behavior of FGSMEE plate for various skew angles. The influence of skew angle on the primary quantities such as displacements, electric potential, and magnetic potential, and secondary quantities such as stresses, electric displacement and magnetic induction is studied in detail. In addition, the effect of power-law gradient, thickness ratio, boundary conditions and aspect ratio on the free vibration and static response characteristics of FGSMEE plate has been investigated.

폴리이미드 표면에서의 네마틱 액정의 틸트 제어를 이용한 새로운 ECB 모드 (A novel ECB mode using control of tilt angle for nematic liquid crystal on polyimide surface)

  • In this paper, we have improved a novel (ECB) mode using tilt angle in the unique condition by hot-plate equipment. The new control of tilt angle for nematic liquid crystal (NLC) with negative and positive dielectric anisotropy on the rubbed homeotropic polyimide (PI) using baking method by Hot-plate equipment was investigated. LC tilt angle decreased with increasing baking temperature and time. Especially, the low LC tilt angle of positive type NLC $({\Delta}n>0)$ on the rubbed homeotropic PI surface by increasing temperature and time was measured. The EO characteristics of the novel ECB mode using control of tilt angle on the homeotropic surface than that of conventional OCB cell can be improved. We suggest that the developed the Novel ECB cell using control of tilt angle on the homeotropic surface is a promising technique for the achievement of a fast response time and a high contrast ratio.

관절내 종골 골절에 대해 AO 종골 금속판을 이용한 수술적 치료 결과 (Surgical Outcomes of Intra-articular Fractures of Calcaneus using AO Calcaneal Plate)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of intra-articular calcaneal fractures treated using AO calcaneal plate surgically. Materails and Methods: Total 15 cases of intra-articular calcaneal fracture that treated with open reduction and internal fixation using AO calcaneal plate were evaluated. The patients were followed over a mean period of 19.8 months. The mean age was 41.6 years. By Sanders classification, there were 2 cases of type II, 10 cases of type III, and 3 cases of type IV. We evaluated radiological outcomes by Bohler angle, Gissane angle, calcaneal hight, calcaneal width and clinical outcomes by Creighton-Nebraska health foundation score. Results: All fractures united at a mean duration of 13.3 weeks. Radiologically, the mean preoperative Bohler angle was $8.5^{\circ}$ and restored to $23.3^{\circ}$. The mean preoperative Gissane angle was $118.7^{\circ}$ and restored to $124.2^{\circ}$. The mean preoperative calcaneal hight was 30.8 mm and restored to 38.9 mm. The mean preoperative calcaneal width was 41.3 mm and restored to 35.3 mm. 10 cases had excellent and good clinical outcomes and 5 cases having fair outcome. Conculsion: In our study, open reduction and internal fixation using AO calcaneal plate showed good results with anatomical restoration of articular surface and stable fixation without late collapse.

플레이트-휜을 가지는 자연대류 히트싱트의 경사각 변화에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigation of Variations in Inclination Angle of Natural Convective Heat Sink with Plate Fins)

  • 본 연구에서는 등온 가열 조건 하에서 플레이트-휜을 가지는 자연대류 히트싱크의 열성능을 측정하기 위한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 실험은 자연대류 히트싱크의 열입력량, 휜 간격 및 높이를 변화시키면서 수행하였다. 특히, 경사각 변화가 자연대류 히트싱크의 열성능에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 기존 연구자들이 제시한 열저항 상관식과 본 연구에서 수행한 실험결과의 비교를 통해 실험결과의 타당성을 검증하였다. 또한 실험결과를 바탕으로 자연대류 히트싱크의 열입력량, 휜 간격 및 높이, 그리고 경사각에 대하여 기존 연구자들이 제시한 상관식의 적용가능 범위를 평가하였다.

평판에 충돌하는 초음속 이중 동축제트에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of the Supersonic, Dual, Coaxial Jets Impinging on a Flat Plate)

  • The supersonic, dual, coaxial jet impinging upon a vertical flat plate has recently been applied to a variety of industrial manufacturing processes, since it has several advantages over a conventional supersonic impinging jet. In the present study, experimentation is carried out to investigate the effects of the impinging angle of the annular flow and the design Mach number on the flow field formed over the vertical flat plate. A convergent-divergent nozzle is used to obtain the inner jet flow, its design Mach number being changed between $1.0\;and\;2.0$. The outer annular nozzle has a constant area of the Mach number of 1.0, and its impinging angle of $0^{\circ}\;and\;20^{\circ}$. The primary jet pressure ratio is changed in the range from 6.0 to 10.0 and for the annular flow, the assistant jet pressure ratio is changed from 1.0 to 4.0. The distance between the dual, coaxial nozzle and flat plate is also changed. Detailed pressure measurements are conducted along the axis of the jet and on the flat plate as well. The impinging coaxial Jet flows are visualized using the Schlieren and Shadow optical methods. The results show that the flow field on the plate is not strongly dependent only on the primary and assistant pressure ratios but also the impinging angle of the annular nozzle.

Seismic Behavior Investigation of the Corrugated Steel Shear Walls Considering Variations of Corrugation Geometrical Characteristics

  • The corrugated steel plate shear walls have recently been proposed to address the seismic issues associated with simple steel plate shear walls; however, stiffness, strength, and ductility of the corrugated shear walls are significantly affected by varying the corrugation geometry under seismic loading. The present study investigates steel shear walls' models with corrugated or simple infill plates subjected to monotonic and cyclic loads. The performance of the corrugated steel plate is evaluated and then compared to that of the simple steel plates by evaluating the damping ratios and energy dissipation capability. The effect of corrugation profile angle, the existence of an opening, and the corrugation subpanel length are numerically investigated after validation of the finite element modeling methodology. The results demonstrate that incorporating corrugated plates would lead to better seismic damping ratios, specifically in the case of opening existence inside of the infill plate. Specifically, the corrugation angle of $30^{\circ}$ decreases the ultimate strength, while increasing the initial stiffness and ductility. In addition, the subpanel length of 100 mm is found to be able to improve the overall performance of shear wall by providing each subpanel appropriate support for the adjacent subpanel, leading to a sufficient buckling resistance performance.

Yaw 를 가진 긴 관통자와 경사판재의 고속충돌 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of High-Velocity Oblique Impacts of Yawed Long Rod Projectile Against Thin-Plate)

  • Using the Lagrangian explicit time-integration finite element code NET3D which can treat three-dimensional high-velocity impact problems, oblique penetration processes of long rod projectile with yaw against thin plate are simulated. Through the comparison of simulation result with experimental result and other code's computational result, the adaptability and accuracy of NET3D is evaluated under the complex situation in which yaw angle and oblique angle exist simultaneously. Main research contents to be handled in this paper include the followings. First, the accuracy and efficiency estimation of NET3D code result obtained from the oblique penetration simulations of long rod projectile with yaw against thin plate. Second, the effect of increasing impact velocity. Third, the effect of initial yaw for the spaced-plate target. Residual velocities, residual lengths, angular velocities, and final deformed configurations obtained from the NET3D computations are compared with the experimental results and other code's computational results such as Eulerian code MESA and Lagrangian code EPIC. As a result of comparisons, it has been found that NET3D code is superior to EPIC code and MESA code in the prediction capability of residual velocity and residual length of penetrator. The key features obtained from the experiment can be successfully reproduced through NET3D simulations. Throughout the study, the applicability and accuracy of NET3D as a metallic armor system design tool is verified.

지오셀을 적용한 지반의 보강효과에 관한연구 (Effect Reinforced Ground using Geocell)

  • This study was carried out the laboratory tests and field plate load test in order to evaluate the reinforcement effect of geocell for road construction. The geocell-reinforced subgrade shows the increment of cohesion and friction angle with comprison of non-reinforced subgrade. In addition, the field plate load test was performed on the geocell-reinforced subgrade to estimate the bearing capacity of soil. The direct shear test was conducted with utilizing a large-scale shear box to evaluate the internal soil friction angle with geocell reinforcement. The number of cells in the geocell system is varied to investigate the effect of soil reinforcement. The theoretical bearing capacity of subgrade soil with and without geocell reinforcement was estimated by using the soil internal friction angle. The field plate load tests were also conducted to estimate the bearing capacity with geocell reinforcement. It is found out that the bearing capacity of geocell-reinforced subgrade gives 2 times higher value than that of unreinforced subgrade soil. In the future, the reinforcement effect of the geocell rigidity and load-balancing effect of the geocells should be evaluated.
