  • Polymeric micro lens arrays with diameters of $13\~96\;{\mu}m$ fabricated using the micro-compression molding with electro formed mold inserts. In the present study, the electro forming process was used to make the metallic micro-mold insert for micro-molding of microlens array. The wettability property of the fabricated mold insert was examined by measuring the contact angle of the polymer melt on the mold insert. Microlenses were compression-molded with the fabricated mold insert. The effects of the molding temperature and wettability property on the replication quality of the molded lenses were analyzed experimentally.

  • Contact angle measuring device was developed in this laboratory using laser beam projec-tion. The new method allows for rapid and direct determination of stationary, advancing, and receding contact angles on both planar and nonplanar solid surfaces, including fibers with very small diameters. A narrow laser beam impinges on an edge of an interface of liquid and solid. This makes two projected laser beam lines upon and radiating from the center of a protractor scale on a tangent screen. Contact angle is measured by determining the difference in angle on the protractor scale between the two projected laser beam lines. Contact angles measured on Perspex-CQ using this instrument were in agreement with the literature. it was shown that this instrument provides a novel method for the facile and accurate measurement of contact angles.

  • This study was to develop a portable digital radiography (PDR) system with a function measuring the X-ray source-with-detector angle (SDA) and to evaluate the imaging performance for the diagnosis of chest imaging. The SDA device consisted of an Arduino, an accelerometer and gyro sensor, and a Bluetooth module. According to different angle degrees, five anatomical landmarks on chest images were assessed using a 5-point scale. Mean signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio were 182.47 and 141.43. Spatial resolution (10% MTF) and entrance surface dose were 3.17 lp/mm ($157{\mu}m$) and 0.266mGy. The angle values of SDA device were not significant difference as compared to those of the digital angle meter. In chest imaging, SNR and CNR values were not significantly different according to different angle degrees (repeated-measures ANOVA, p>0.05). The visibility scores of the border of heart, 5th rib and scapula showed significant differences according to different angles (rmANOVA, p<0.05), whereas the scores of the clavicle and 1st rib were not significant. It is noticeable that the increase in SDA degree was consistent with the increase of visibility score. Our PDR with SDA device would be useful to be applicable to clinical radiography setting according to the standard radiography guideline at various fields.

  • When a device is mounted on the PCB, it is impossible to have zero defects due to many unpredictable problems. Among these problems, devices with bent corner leads due to mis-handling and which are not placed at a given point measured along the axis are principal problem in SMT(Surface Mounting Technology). It is obvious that given the complexity of the inspection task, the efficiency of a human inspection is questionable. Thus, new technologies for inspection of SMD(Surface Mounting Device) should be explored. An example of such technologies is the Automated Visual Inspection(AVI), wherein the vision system plays a key role to correct this problem. In implementing vision system, high-speed and high-precision are indispensable for practical purposes. In this paper, a new algorithm based on the Radon transform which uses a projection technique to inspect the FIC(Flat Integrated Circuit) device is proposed. The proposed algorithm is compared with other algorithms by measuring the position error(center and angle) and the processing time for the device image, characterized by line scan camera.

  • Due to the nature of the Rosenberg Method, the patient needs to maintain posture for a certain period of time, and the joint space is observed in various forms depending on the angle of knee flexion, which causes difficulties in examination. In order to solve these problems, Image quality was evaluated in order to evaluate the usefulness of the assistive device by making the assistive device itself. SNR and CNR analysis about the presence or absence of an assistive device using the extremity phantom and the angle of the assistive device itself were not statistically significant(p < 0.05). As a result of measuring the distance between the right and left edges of the medial condyle based on the presence or absence of an assist device, and the absence of assist device (96.00±40.6 mm) and presence of an assist device (134.86±17.68 mm) were statistically significant (p <0.05). To find the aLDFA relationship about the femur and tibia, we measured the right and left aLDFA based on the presence or absence of assist device. As a result, the absence of the right-side aLDFA assist device (74.63°±4.87) and the presence of assist device (79.64°±3.65) were statistically significant (p <0.05). The absence of the left-side aLDFA assist device (76.39°±4.62) and the presence of assist device (79.64°±3.65) were statistically significant (p < 0.05). but, As a result of measuring the distance of the overlapping parts of the right and left proximal tibiofibular joint and the lateral condyle, There were no statistically significant differences between the right and left sides. In conclusion, we confirmed that we can obtain Diagnostically valuable images with a constant knee-to-knee spacing using an assist device we self-created. In addition, we could learn through aLDFA relationship between femur and tibial that the smaller the angle, the more medial condyle overlaps with JSW, We also confirmed the significance by deriving similar values on the normal range values of aLDFA using assist devices. However, it is considered necessary to pay attention to internal and external rotations in order to obtain good quality images by evaluating the distance of overlapping parts between proximal tibiofibular joint and lateral condyle.

  • The best sunroof wind noise quality is mainly related to the sunroof deflector which affects both low-speed buffeting and high-speed aerodynamic noise. An automatic deflector-moving and noise-measuring apparatus is developed to obtain hundreds of measuring data which haven't been available by hand. With an additional program for fast and easy noise analysis, this device leads quickly to the better position and angle of the deflector. Now, the 'better' means the lower noise level and the robuster design solution. From these kinds of better solutions, more meaningful guidelines on the deflector design and sunroof wind noise reduction can be suggested.

  • Tightening of the screws in implant restorations should be accurate and precise. If applied torque is too low, screw loosening would be occurred. With too high torque, the screw fracture might take place. Various torque generating devices are developed and employed to apply a proper torque. The purpose of this investigation was to determine and compare the accuracy of the torque controllers. In this study, 4 types of torque controllers were used; electronic torque controller, torque limiting device, torque indicating device and contra angle torque driver. Digital torque gauge was employed to measure the de-torque value. Thirty cycles of tightening and loosening were done with each torque controller. All implant torque controllers have shown slight errors and deviations. The torque liming device exhibited the most accurate data. No significant difference was found among the mean de-torque values of the electronic torque controller, torque indicating device and contra angle torque driver. In the limitation of this study, it would be recommended that the implant torque controllers should be checked whether uniformed and precise torque can be generated and a measuring error should be corrected.

  • Mixture formation is one of the important factors to improve combustion performance of MPI gasoline engines. This is affected by spray and atomization characteristics of injector. Especially, in the case of EGI system, air-fuel mixing period is too short and formed a lot of fuel-film in the intake manifold and cylinder wall. This fuel-film is not burnt in cylinder, it is exhausted in the form of HC emission. In this paper, spray characteristics such as size distributions, SMD, and spray angle are measured by PMAS, and the fuel-film measuring device is developed specially. Using this device, the amount and distribution of fuel-film which flows into through valve can be measured Quantitatively. As the result of these experiments, the information of optimal spray characteristics and injection condition that minimize the fuel-film can be built up.
