  • Selection of the appropriate parents to be used in artificial crosses is one of the main decisions faced by plant breeders that will facilitate the exploitation of maximum genetic variability and production of superior recombinant genotypes. Several techniques have been used in aiding the identification of genotypes with promising and desirable agronomical traits for hybridization. In this way, the objective of the present review is to gather available information for the selection of parents based on different breeding designs and analytical tools showing their similarities and highlighting the main advantages and disadvantages of their use.

  • The rheological changes in sensitive materials was investigated by using QCA. Langmuir-Blodgett method was used to transfer sensitive material to the quartz crystals because of its facility to control the thickness. To develop gas sensor using quartz crystal, the rheological change of sensitive LB films were observed using the resonant resistance concept. And the rheological changes as to adsorption of organic vapours were used to analyze the response mechanism between organic vapours and sensitive LB films. We considered with resonant frequency of quartz crystal to obtain one-channel gas sensor and analytical tools of organic vapours response. In our results, we analyzed the organic vapours response by the rheological changes and mass loading as to adsorption of organic vapours.

  • For efficient and effective nuclear regulation, regulatory organizations must establish consistent and rigorous regulatory positions on safety matters. These positions should be based on high technical expertise and relevant ordinances, standards, and guidelines reflecting policy changes governing nuclear regulations. The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, a regulatory expert organization in Korea, has developed regulatory requirements, guidelines and analytical tools that provide regulatory technical bases for ensuring nuclear safety. The nuclear regulatory research also contributes to regulatory decision making by providing resolution for current and future safety issues. In this article, we introduce nuclear regulatory research and its main achievements in the past 10 years. Also, suggested here are future directions of nuclear regulatory research.

  • The pull-out frequency of a second-order phase lock loop (PLL) is an important parameter that quantifies the loop's ability to stay frequency locked under abrupt changes in the reference input frequency. In most cases, this must be determined numerically or approximated using asymptotic techniques, both of which require special knowledge, skills, and tools. An approximating formula is derived analytically for computing the pull-out frequency for a second-order Type II PLL that employs a sinusoidal characteristic phase detector. The pull-out frequency of such PLLs can be easily approximated to satisfactory accuracy with this formula using a modern scientific calculator.

  • DNA microarray data analysis is a new technology to investigate the expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously. Since DNA microarray data structures are various and complicative, the data are generally stored in databases for approaching to and controlling the data effectively. But we have some difficulties to analyze and control the data when the data are stored in the several database management systems or that the data are stored to the file format. The existing analysis tools for DNA microarray data have many difficult problems by complicated instructions, and dependency on data types and operating system. In this paper, we design and implement network-based analysis tool for obtaining to useful information from DNA microarray data. When we use this tool, we can analyze effectively DNA microarray data without special knowledge and education for data types and analytical methods.

  • We developed an alternative assay method without hazardous reagent of chloroform for urazamide tablets in Korean Pharmaceutical Codex. The HPLC analytical method was validated by system suitability, linearity, precision, accuracy and robustness. The linearity of the calibration curves in the desired concentration range is good ($r^2$ >0.999). Precision was obtained less than RSD 1.17%. Accuracy was obtained with recoveries in range of 98.12% and 99.47%. The developed assay could be expected to become valuable tools for revising the Korean Pharmaceutical Codex.

  • When one enters a space, perceives the material geometry of that space. Walking inside buildings or across the city is generating a geometry of moving bodies that fills the space. These two geometries coexist: a static geometry of the space and an invisible one of the moving bodies. The space that we actually experience, whether interior or exterior, is a continuous network of voids. Individuals' movement will fill the network of voids that we understand as "the city". Our environment of voids and borders is organized by the means of architecture and urbanism. The geometry generated by motion affects both the limits and the voids, thus space can be defined by the tandem of the moving bodies and their environment. We propose in this study a mean of investigating users' movement and thus understanding the qualities of space while introducing the concept of space scores as analytical maps and design tools.

  • This project aims to develop a partnership between France and Korea; the field of paper conservation with two mains objectives. The first object is to study the possibilities of implementing the use of traditional Korean paper in conservation workshops in France and Europe. The second one is to establish a long term collaborative research program to investigate the degradation mechanisms of ancient papers and particularly early waxed manuscripts founded in Korea and France which are now brittle and fallen into parts. This problem deserves an investigation using analytical tools such as SEC/MALS, GC/MS to understand the interactions between wax and cellulose during the ageing process and to recommend proper conservation treatment. A research plan could be establish for both institution in order to facilities an exchange of visiting scholars (scientist, post-doc) to implement and share knowledge and for carrying out the research.

  • Several novel concepts and tools have revolutionized our understanding of the Internet topology. Most of the existing efforts attempt to develop accurate analytical models. In this paper, our goal is to develop an effective conceptual model: A model that can be easily drawn by hand, while at the same time, it captures significant macroscopic properties. We build the foundation for our model with two thrusts: a) We identify new topological properties and b) we provide metrics to quantify the topological importance of a node. We propose the jellyfish as a model for the inter-domain Internet topology. We show that our model captures and represents the most significant topological properties. Furthermore, we observe that the jellyfish has lasting value: It describes the topology for more than six years.
