인공지능 개념을 이용한 공장 설비배치 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Facility Layout Design Algorithm Based on Artificial Intelligence Concept)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a facility layout design algorithm based on artificial intelligence concept, and then to develop a computer program which is more practical than any other conventional facility layout design systems. The algorithm is composed of five step layout procedures; knowledge and data input, knowledge interpretation, priority determination, inference of layout design, and evaluation, In the step of priority determination, the algorithm is divided into single row and multi row layout problem. In the step of inference of layout design, alternatives are generated by constraints-directed reasoning and depth first search method based on artificial intelligence concept. Alternatives are evaluated by the moving cost and relationship value by interactive man-machine interface in the step of evaluation. As a case study, analytical considerations over conventional programs such as CRAFT and CORELAP was investigated and compared with algorithm propsed in this study. The proposed algorithm in this study will give useful practical tool for layout planner. The computer progran was written in C language for IBM PC-AT.

A Brief Overview of Atom Probe Tomography Research

  • Atom probe tomography (APT) has been fast rising in prominence over the past decade as a key tool for nanoscale analytical characterization of a range of materials systems. APT provides three-dimensional mapping of the atom distribution in a small volume of solid material. The technique has evolved, with the incorporation of laser pulsing capabilities, and, combined with progress in specimen preparation, APT is now able to analyse a very range of materials, beyond metals and alloys that used to be its core applications. The present article aims to provide an overview of the technique, providing a brief historical perspective, discussing recent progress leading to the state-of-the-art, some perspectives on its evolution, with targeted examples of applications.

  • Multi-tasking machines are widely used in machine tool industries nowadays. This study focuses on the effect of load on the structure stabilities of laser multi-tasking machine which is comprehensively combined turning center and laser machine. For design of the machine, simulation of structural analysis is carried out varying number of elements. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. This method showed a proper number of elements can be selected to obtain good result by reduced computation time.

  • Applicability of the vibration signal phase for predicting the modal damping properties of structures is investigated. For uniform plates with different internal damping levels, the phase delay as a function of the frequency span as well as a function of the distance between the excitation and response measurement points are experimentally obtained. Dependence of the phase characteristics on the amount of structural damping is elucidated -more heavily damped plate shows notably reduced phase delay at intermediate distances. The experimental results compare favorably with analytical predictions, and show much promise for further refinement as a tool for estimating structural properties.

  • In the automated manufacturing systems, the problem regarding how to make production activities flexible is even more important and critical than that regarding how to product large quantities, and the more flexible, if possible, the manufacturing system is, the more competitiveness and profitable factors it gets. This research, therefore, concentrated on establishing the flexibility and evaluating performance on the manufacturing system, operational flexibility is considered because of enabling the manufacturing system to get both the improvement of production rate and the adaptive ability of environment changes. For it, we used the analytical tool, GSPNs, which is a kind of timed Petri-Nets. GSPNs is competent enough to consider practical situations just like operation priorities, machine failure, randomness, concurrency and so on. Through the GSPNs analysis, it is confirmed that in the manufacturing system with operational flexibility is compatible with the traditional performances such as production rate or mean waiting time.

2차원 절삭과정에서의 Acoustic Emission과 절삭 파라미터 사이의 관계 (Relationship between Acoustic Emission and Cutting Parameters of the Orthogonal Cutting Process)

  • The objective of this study is to establish the comprehensive analytical relationship between acoustic emission and fundamental parameters of the orthogonal cutting process. The sources of acoustic emission in the orthogonal metal cutting process was identified as deformation in the shear zone and sliding friction at the chip-tool interface. The validity of this relationship is evaluated by a series of tests varing cutting speed and rake angle for A16063 tube. Strong dependence of the RMS voltage of acoustic emission on cutting speed and rake angle was observed. It was also found that the percentage contribution of AE energy at each zone for the total AE activity is constant in accordance with the change of cutting speed. The relationship between the RMS of acoustic emission and the fundamental cutting parameters was modified in order to be utilized independent of rake angle.

  • Global Biodiversity is common interest of humans for better health and sustainable development of the society. To provide access and analysis on microbial diversity information, Bacteriology Insight Orienting System (BIOS) has been developed. BIOS contains 6402 species and subspecies names of bacteria and archaea, 2606 names of cyanobacteria by March 2000. BIOS of which web based analytical tool provides windows to compare the results of phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence and the results of cluster analysis on proteome profiling. The sequence data and 2 dimensional gel electrophoresis analysis data were accumulated in BIOS database content for cyanobacteria reclassification and taxonomy.   • We reported that hot electron phenomena in submicron nMOSFET by Monte Carlo method. In order to predict the influence of the hot electron effects on the device reliability, either simple analytical model or a complete two dimensional numerical simulation has been adopted. Results of numerical simulation, based on the static mobility model, may be inaccurate when gate length of MOSFET is scaled down to less than 1um. Most of device simulation packages utilize the static nobility model. Monte Carlo method based on stochastic analysis of carrier movement may be a powerful tool to characterize hot electrons. In this work, energy and velocity distribution of carriers were obtained to predict the relative degree of short channel effects for different device parameters. Our analysis shows a few interesting results when $V_{ds}$ is 5 volt, average electron energy does not increase with gate bias as evidenced by substrate current.

  • Due to their elastic anisotropy, ultrasonic testing of austenitic welds, frequently used in nuclear power plants, is much more difficult than that of isotropic elements. For accurate testing of austenitic welds, ultrasonic wave phenomena therein must be full understood. This study uses an accurate and effective numerical model, the mass-spring lattice model, for such phenomena. By comparing the numerical results with the corresponding analytical results, it is shown that the model is capable of accurately predicting the generation, reflection, refraction, and scattering phenomena of ultrasonic waves in anisotropic austenite welds. Therefore, the mass-spring lattice model will provide a very useful tool for simulating ultrasonic testing of austenitic welds, and thus will contribute to the enhancement of reliability of such ultrasonic testing.

  • A Discrete Event Dynamic System is a system whose states change in response to the occurrence of events from a predefined event set. A major difficulty in developing analytical results for the systems is the lack of appropriate modeling techniques. This paper proposes the use of Real-time Temporal Logic as a modeling tool for the analysis and control of DEDS. The Real-time Temporal Logic Frameworks is extended with a suitable structure of modeling hard real-time constraints. Modeling rules are developed for several specific situations. It is shown how the graphical model can be translated to a system of linear equations and constraints.
