대수적 사고의 기원에 관한 고찰

  • One of the characteristics of modem mathematics is to use algebra in every fields of mathematics. But we don't have the exact definition of algebra, and we can't clearly define algebraic thinking. In order to solve this problem, this paper investigate the history of algebra. First, we describe some of the features of proportional Babylonian thinking by analysing some problems. In chapter 4, we consider Greek's analytical method and proportional theory. And in chapter 5, we deal with Diophantus' algebraic method by giving an overview of Arithmetica. Finally we investigate Viete's thinking of algebra through his ‘the analytical art’. By investigating these history of algebra, we reach the following conclusions. 1. The origin of algebra comes from problem solving(various equations). 2. The origin of algebraic thinking is the proportional thinking and the analytical thinking. 3. The thing that plays an important role in transition from arithmetical thinking to algebraic thinking is Babylonian ‘the false value’ idea and Diophantus’ ‘arithmos’ concept.

Detecting Fake Reviews: Exploring the Linguistic Characteristics by Computerized Text Analysis

  • Online consumer reviews have become the most important basis for online shopping and product sales. Fake reviews are generated to boost sales because online consumer reviews play a vital role in consumers' decision making. The prevalence of fake reviews violates the regulations of the online business environment and misleads consumers in decision making. Thus, the present research investigates the effects of reviews' linguistic characteristics (i.e., analytical thinking, authenticity) on review fakeness. Specifically, this research examines whether (1) the level of analytical thinking is lower for fake (vs. genuine) reviews (hypothesis 1) and (2) the level of authenticity is lower for fake (vs. genuine) reviews (hypothesis 2). This research analyzed user-generated hotel reviews (genuine reviews, fake reviews) collected from MTurk. Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) 2022 was adopted to code review contents, and the hypotheses were tested using logistic regression. Consistent with the hypotheses 1 and 2, the results indicate that (1) analyticial thinking is negatively associated with review fakeness; and (2) authenticity is negatively associated with review fakeness. The findings provide important implications to identify fake reviews based on linguistic characteristics.

  • 다양한 정보의 홍수 속에서 순간순간 의사결정을 해야 하는 사회구성원은 주어진 정보를 통해 합리적인 의사결정과 비판적 사고가 요구된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교 6학년 학생들의 설문 조사 활동을 통해 설문 주제 및 설문 과정을 살펴보고, 이 과정에서 나타나는 아동의 통계적 사고를 분석하기 위해 자료의 수집, 자료의 기술, 자료의 조직과 요약, 자료의 그래프 표현, 자료의 해석과 분석 측면을 중심으로 심도 있게 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 습관적(Idiosyncratic) 사고 수준(1수준), 전이적(Transitional) 사고 수준(2수준), 양적 (Quantitative) 사고 수준(3수준), 분석적(Analytical) 사고 수준(4수준)의 4단계 중 2~4수준에 걸쳐 통계적 사고의 수준을 나타냈다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 학습자의 데이터 분석적 사고력 향상을 위한 딥러닝 기반 학습 시스템 개발 연구이다. 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 데이터 분석적 사고력 향상을 위해 발견학습 모형에 딥러닝 기법을 적용하였다. 이는 데이터의 관계를 나타내주는 모델을 딥러닝 기법을 사용하여 생성하고, 새로운 데이터를 이 모델에 적용하여 데이터를 분석하는 과정을 경험할 수 있는 학습 방법이다. 둘째, 이 학습 방법에 따른 수업을 위한 딥러닝 기반 학습 시스템을 개발하였다. 딥러닝 기법을 사용하여 학습자가 입력한 데이터의 모델을 생성하고 적용할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 딥러닝을 적용한 발견학습 및 시스템 설계 연구는 데이터의 중요성이 더욱 커지는 미래 사회에서 학습자의 데이터 분석적 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있는 새로운 접근이 될 것으로 기대한다.

Model Eliciting Activity(MEA)를 통한 초등 과학영재들의 문제해결 특성 분석 (An Analysis of the Characteristics of Elementary Science Gifted Students' Problem Solving through Model Eliciting Activity(MEA))

  • 본 연구는 MEA(Model Eliciting Activity)활동에서 나타나는 초등과학영재들의 문제해결 과정에서 나타나는 사고특성을 분석하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 광역시 소재 P대학부설 과학영재교육원 입학 선발과정에서 1차 창의적 문제해결력 검사를 통과한 40명의 초등과학영재를 대상으로 MEA활동을 실시하고 활동지를 분석하였다. 수행된 MEA활동은 'Coffee cup challenge'로 컵 도면을 활용하며 주어진 크기의 종이에 컵 옆면과 바닥을 가장 많이 배치하는 최적의 방법을 고안하는 활동으로 구성되어있다. 학생들이 문제해결과정에서 그린 3가지의 그림과 그 그림에 대한 설명이 주요 데이터로 수집되었으며, 통계적(상관분석)과 질적 분석을 통해 1)직관적 사고와 시각적 표현 그리고 2) 분석적 사고와 의사소통능력간의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구의 결과 1) 직관적 통찰은 시각적 표현능력과 전체 문제해결과정에서 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다, 2) 분석적 사고와 정교화 과정이 의사소통능력에 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 해석되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 MEA활동이 스스로 아이디어를 구성하고, 다양한 해결방법을 찾아갈 수 있는 학습기회를 제공함으로써 초등과학영재들에게 반성과 사고를 촉진하고 학문적 연결과 의사소통능력을 길러주는 유용한 활동임을 고찰하였다.

How do learners discover the topic in team project-based learning?: Analysis of Learners' Creative Activity in the process of selecting the topic

  • Team project learning is a type of Project-Based Learning, which is an effective learning method for developing collaborative competency and interpersonal communication skills, as well as for developing cognitive competency such as critical thinking, creative thinking, and analytical skills. This research, conducted to analyze learning activities, focuses on students' creative thinking and activities in TPBL(Team Project-Based Learning). A qualitative approach including a reflective journal based on the 6 stages of TPBL, was adopted for this purpose. In this study, 69 reflective journals on the three stages (developing a theme, researching, theme-making) of 23 undergraduate students were categorized on the basis of three criteria: divergent thinking factors, convergent thinking factors and affective factors. The results show that the participants' journals demonstrated twenty-eight activities from nine cognitive factors and nine activities from three affective factors were derived from reflect journal. This finding indicates that more appropriate instructional strategies are needed for students to enhance their creative thinking skills and activities

Classification of Characters in Movie by Correlation Analysis of Genre and Linguistic Style

  • The character dialogue created by AI is unnatural when compared with human-made dialogue, and it can not reveal the character's personality properly in spite of remarkable development of AI. The purpose of this paper is to classify characters through the linguistic style and to investigate the relation of the specific linguistic style with the personality. We analyzed the dialogues of 92 characters selected from total 60 movies categorized four movie genres, such as romantic comedy, action, comedy and horror/thriller, using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), a text analysis software. As a result, we confirmed that there is a unique language style according to genre. Especially, we could find that the emotional tone than analytical thinking are two important features to classify. They were analyzed as very important features for classification as the precision and recall is over 78% for romantic comedy and action. However, the precision and recall were 66% and 50% for comedy and horror/thriller. Their impact on classification was less than romantic comedy and action genre. The characters of romantic comedy deal with the affection between men and women using a very high value of emotional tone than analytical thinking. The characters of action genre who need rational judgment to perform mission have much greater analytical thinking than emotional tone. Additionally, in the case of comedy and horror/thriller, we analyzed that they have many kinds of characters and that characters often change their personalities in the story.

한국어 퍼지 언어변수를 이용한 리스크 평가의 논리적 일관성 (Logical Consistency in Risk Assessment using the Korean Fuzzy Linguistic Variables)

  • Usually, a risk can be expressed as a product of likelihood and consequence of a hazard factor. Therefore, conventional risk assessment is carried out by frequency analysis and severity analysis, in turns. However, it is well known that intuitive thinking is another excellent way of thinking of human beings. This study aimed to confirm whether there exist any difference in risk assessment results derived by two different procedures - intuitive and analytical. Thus, the present study showed 10 different illustrations to 30 undergraduate students. Their responses were organized as fuzzy membership functions, and summarized as risk assessments, and compared. The results were also verified with the help of statistical hypothesis testing, which showed no significant difference. On the contrary, however, similarity measure used in fuzzy set theory was not credible as anticipated. Many cases failed to satisfy statistical hypothesis even with similarity measure higher than 0.60 so that only a trend could be accepted. In addition, a subject showed a somewhat consistent logical discrepancy in his response, which implied the necessity of sincere analysis in fuzzy formulations.

  • This study investigates 55 preservice secondary mathematics teachers' situational understanding of functional relationship. Functional thinking is fundamental and useful because it develops students' quantitative thinking about the world and analytical thinking about complex situations through examination of the relations between interdependent factors. Functional thinking is indispensable for understanding natural phenomena, for investigation by science, and for the technological inventions in engineering and navigation. Therefore, it goes without saying that teachers should be able to represent and communicate about various functional situations in the course of teaching and learning functional relationships to develop students' functional thinking. The result of this study illustrates that many preservice teachers were not able to appropriately represent and communicate about various functional situations. Additionally, it shows that most preservice teachers have limited understanding of the value of teaching function.

프로젝트수업 기반 창의적 문제해결역량 향상도 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measuring the Improvement of Creative Problem-Solving Competency in Project-Based Courses)

  • 본 연구에서는 대학생의 전체 역량 측정이 아니라 문제해결역량의 향상도를 측정하기 위해 프로젝트 수업을 진행한 후 학생들의 창의적 문제해결역량이 실제로 수업을 통해서 향상되는지를 확인해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌연구, 프로젝트 수업 설계, 프로젝트 수업 전후의 역량조사 및 분석 과정을 거쳤으며, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로젝트 수업전과 수업 후의 학생들의 창의적 문제해결역량은 어느 정도 향상되는지 측정한 결과, 창의적 문제해결 역량을 이루는 문제인식, 분석적 사고, 융통적 사고, 대안발견, 도전적 태도 등 5개 역량이 모두 향상된 것으로 측정되었다. 둘째, 위 5개의 역량간 상관관계가 모두 상호 유의미하게 나타났으며, 특히 높은 상관관계를 나타낸 것은 문제인식과 대안발견, 문제인식과 분석적 사고, 분석적 사고와 대안발견 순이다. 향후, 본 연구의 일반화를 위해 다른 형태의 수업 및 타 대학이나 학과에 적용하는 연구가 수행될 필요가 있다고 본다.
