  • Recently many administrative institutes try to improve the viability of rural villages. For increasing the viability, not only infrastructures but internal vitality is necessary in rural villages. Nonetheless, most of governmental projects have been focused on infrastructures. For this reason, RDA(Rural Development Administration) designed and performed the RHL(Rural Healthy and Longevity village) project. This RHL project is not easy to evaluate the outcome because it consists of very intangible project items. In this paper, we developed a scoring model to evaluate the result of the RHL project. The scoring model based on DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) was suggested to evaluate the quantity of personal activities in each village. Personal activities are classified into five categories: regional life, social life, productive life, outdoor life and indoor life. Evaluating indices of each category are developed and weighting values are evaluated by AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). The developed model was applied to Kumsan village and examined its applicability.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of food neophobia, nausea, and learned food aversion on food rejection and appetite. A total of 250 questionnaires were completed. Path analytic model was used to measure the relationships between variables. Results of the study demonstrated that the path analysis result for the data also indicated excellent model fit. The effects of food neophobia on nausea and food rejection were statistically significant. The effect of food neophobia on learned food aversion and appetite was not statistically significant. As expected, nausea had a significant effects on learned food aversion and appetite. Moreover, nausea played a perfect mediating role in the relationship between food neophobia and appetite. Nausea played a perfect mediating role in the relationship between food neophobia and learned food aversion. Learned food aversion played a partial mediating role in the relationship between nausea and appetite. Learned food aversion did not play a mediating role in the relationship between food neophobia and appetite. In conclusion, based on path analyses, a model was proposed of interrelations between variables. It should be noted that the original model was modified and should, preferably, be validated in future research.

  • This study introduces an objective and systematic framework for prioritizing buildings in the Gamyoung restoration project using a decision-support model. This model integrates evaluation criteria derived from a comprehensive literature review, refined through the Delphi method, and weights assigned via an Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) survey. Each building project is scored against these criteria to ascertain its priority for restoration, thereby facilitating informed decision-making for budget allocation in restoration projects. The effectiveness of the decision-support model was validated through a case study and expert consultations, demonstrating its practical utility in formulating concrete restoration project plans.

  • This is a survey on American options. An American option allows its owner the privilege of early exercise, whereas a European option can be exercised only at expiration. Because of this early exercise privilege American option pricing involves an optimal stopping problem; the price of an American option is given as a free boundary value problem associated with a Black-Scholes type partial differential equation. Up until now there is no simple closed-form solution to the problem, but there have been a variety of approaches which contribute to the understanding of the properties of the price and the early exercise boundary. These approaches typically provide numerical or approximate analytic methods to find the price and the boundary. Topics included in this survey are early approaches(trees, finite difference schemes, and quasi-analytic methods), an analytic method of lines and randomization, a homotopy method, analytic approximation of early exercise boundaries, Monte Carlo methods, and relatively recent topics such as model uncertainty, backward stochastic differential equations, and real options. We also provide open problems whose answers are expected to contribute to American option pricing.

  • In human reliability analysis, dependence assessment is an important issue in risky large complex systems, such as operation of a nuclear power plant. Many existing methods depend on an expert's judgment, which contributes to the subjectivity and restrictions of results. Recently, a computational method, based on the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory and analytic hierarchy process, has been proposed to handle the dependence in human reliability analysis. The model can deal with uncertainty in an analyst's judgment and reduce the subjectivity in the evaluation process. However, the computation is heavy and complicated to some degree. The most important issue is that the existing method is in a positive aspect, which may cause an underestimation of the risk. In this study, a new evidential analytic hierarchy process dependence assessment methodology, based on the improvement of existing methods, has been proposed, which is expected to be easier and more effective.

  • Based on the energy-variational principle, a coupling vibration analysis model of high-speed railway simply supported beam bridge-track structure system (HSRBTS) was established by considering the effect of shear deformation. The vibration differential equation and natural boundary conditions of HSRBTS were derived by considering the interlayer slip effect. Then, an analytic calculation method for the natural vibration frequency of this system was obtained. By taking two simply supported beam bridges of high-speed railway of 24 m and 32 m in span as examples, ANSYS and MIDAS finite-element numerical calculation methods were compared with the analytic method established in this paper. The calculation results show that two of them agree well with each other, validating the analytic method reported in this paper. The analytic method established in this study was used to evaluate the natural vibration characteristics of HSRBTS under different interlayer stiffness and length of rails at different subgrade sections. The results show that the vertical interlayer compressive stiffness had a great influence on the high-order natural vibration frequency of HSRBTS, and the effect of longitudinal interlayer slip stiffness on the natural vibration frequency of HSRBTS could be ignored. Under different vertical interlayer stiffness conditions, the subgrade section of HSRBTS has a critical rail length, and the critical length of rail at subgrade section decreases with the increase in vertical interlayer compressive stiffness.

  • This paper develops a framework of combining Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) and evaluates the performance factors of container terminals using the framework. This study designs a BSC of container terminals and then transforms this into QFD in order to determine the priority of performance factors. This paper provides a modified QFD model and shows a causal relationship among perspectives of BSC to find out critical performance factors of container terminals. This modified QFD model is different from traditional models in that a correlation and relation matrix is presented. This combination of BSC and QFD with AHP and ANP helps to create more realistic and accurate representation of QFD models.

  • This study proposes a framework to investigate the factors of mobile web success in the context of e-commerce, and the relative importance of these success factors in selecting the most preferred mobile web. First, the Updated Delone and Mclean IS success model (2003) is chosen to extract significant mobile web success factors in the context of e-commerce. Second, it is extended through applying an Analytic Network Process (ANP) approach for investigating the relative importance of each factor and ranking alternative mobile webs in the context of e-commerce. The choice of success measure is a function of the context, which is the objective of this study. Thus, the present study is aimed at evaluating the success of an e-commerce mobile web by customizing measures of the Updated Delone and McLean IS Success model according to the context.
