푸드테크 관련 한국과 일본의 특허 등록 현황 (Current Status of Registered Patents Related to Food Tech in Korea and Japan)

  • This study analyzed the current status of registered patents related to food tech in Korea and Japan. Using the patent information search services of Korean and Japanese Patent Offices, patents registered during the past 10 years from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2015 were searched with the following key words/phrases: "food or meal or diet" and "program or information system". A total of 669 patents (539 for Korea and 130 for Japan) were finally selected and analyzed. Based on Porter's value chain theory, the patents were categorized into three dimensions related to "manufacturing/processing/distribution", "sales & marketing", and "consumer support". The results showed that in Korea, 41.7% of the total patents were related to sales & marketing followed by consumer support (37.3%) and manufacturing/processing/distribution (21.0%). In Japan, patents related to consumer support accounted for 56.2% followed by manufacturing/processing/distribution (32.3%), and sales & marketing (11.5%). In the area of manufacturing/processing/distribution, "food quality management system" in Korea, and "food manufacturing and processing management system" and "food safety control and hazard analysis system" in Japan tended to show a significantly higher proportion of patents registered (p<.05). Under sales & marketing, patents in the categories of "food purchase and delivery service system" in Korea and "restaurant information sharing system" in Japan tended to be more frequently registered (p<.05). Finally, in the area of consumer support, "kitchen facility and cooking device control system" in Korea and "menu and nutrition management system" in Japan tended to account for a significantly higher proportion of patents registered (p<.001). The results are expected to provide useful insights into the development of new patents and markets for food tech in the future.

  • It is becoming increasingly clear that participation in the 'new economy' driven by scientific and technological advances will be the way to achieve global prosperity in the 21st century. An analysis of the patents assigned to a particular country, using the techniques in this study, provides a means to objectively assess the potential for participating in that prosperity, and to identify strong and weak area in technological potential. The analyses are based on Korean-invented patents issued in the United States, and on the citation analysis techniques that link these patents with other patents.

열펌프의 정량적 특허기술 분석에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of the Patents for Heat Pumps)

  • A technical analysis was conducted to predict the development trends for heat pump system. This study was based on submitted patents from 1983 to 2002 in Korea, USA, and Japan. The total number of raw data from the registered database was 19,261 and the obtained data to be analyzed through the filtering process was 5,143. Japan's technical development for the heat pump system was more dominant than the other countries. Approximately $54\%$ of the total patents related with the heat pump system was registered by Japan. The number of patents for the heat pump system registered by Korea was very low in 1980's, but it increased rapidly in 1990's. As a result, the number of patents applied by Korea was $21\%$ of all patents. When the patent was categorized into compression, absorption/ad-sorption, and chemical type, the technology of compression type made up over $80\%$ in each country. Approximately $93\%$ of the patents surveyed in this study was developed for air or water source heat pumps because of easy applications compared with other heat sources. The $89\%$ of all patents was applied by companies when applicants were divided into three groups of company, individual, and the others (national institute, university, and so on).

국내 약침 특허 현황에 대한 분석연구 (Review on the Pharmacopuncture Patent in Korea)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of pharmacopuncture in Korean patent in order to establish database for patent technology. Methods : Electronic literature searches for Korean patents related to pharmacopuncture were performed in two electronic databases (Korea Intellectual Property Right Information Service and National Digital Science Library) to June 2017. Patents that were not Korean ones, did not use medicinal herb, only described method of manufacture, or had nothing to do with pharmacopuncture were excluded in this study. The status and application date of patents, Medicinal herb, target diseases, International Patent Classification (IPC), model of experiment and extracting methods were analyzed. Results : A total of 379 patents were retrieved. Based on our inclusion/exclusion criteria, 297 patents were excluded. Of 82 included patents, 27 patents did not include experiments using pharmacopuncture, and 9 patents were invented for treating animals such as pig or calf. In IPC analysis, Bee Venom, Panax (ginseng), Angelica, and Paeoniaceae were used frequently. Musculoskeletal diseases were the most targeted diseases followed by nervous diseases. For extracting, hot water extraction, distillation extraction, and solvent extraction using alcohol, ethanol, or methanol for solvent were commonly used. Conclusions : These data are useful for inventing new patent and extending range of pharmacopuncture in clinical use, however, more systematically analyzed patent studies and pharmacopuncture-related studies for new application on various diseases are needed in further studies.

특허자료를 이용한 우리나라 대학 연구의 특성 분석 (Empirical Analysis of University Patenting in Korea)

  • 본 논문은 대학의 연구활동을 특허라는 창을 통하여 들여다보고자 하였다. 특허인용정보가 있는 미국 특허를 이용하여 우리나라의 대학 특허를 기업 특허와 대비시켜 대학 특허의 특성을 분석하였다. 일반적으로 기업 특허와 대학 특허는 전자는 전유성(appropriability) 측면에서 그리고 후자는 기초성(basicness) 측면에서 차이가 있는 것으로 본다. 그런데 기초성 측면에서 우리나라 대학 특허는 기업 특허와 크게 두드러진 차이를 보이지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 특허인용함수모형을 이용하여 특허의 질 또는 수준을 기업과 대학 사이에 비교해 보았다. 기업 특허는 자체인용이 상당수 포함되어 있는데, 이를 감안하면 전방인용에 있어서는 대학 특허와 기업 특허는 큰 차이를 보이지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 자체인용 비중이 높을수록 특허의 전유성 정도가 높은 경향이 있다는 선행연구를 상기하면, 기업 특허의 전유성 정도가 높게 나오는 것을 확인할 수도 있었다. 미국과 유럽을 대상으로 한 선행연구에서는 대학 특허가 대체로 기업 특허와 비교하여 인용빈도 측면에서 뒤지지 않는 것으로 분석되고 있다. 외국의 대학 특허 분석결과와 본 논문의 우리나라 대학 특허 분석결과를 대비시키면, 우리나라 대학 특허는 전반적인 수준이나 영향력 측면에서는 기업 특허에 미치지 못하며, 이는 우리나라대학의 특허활동이 최근에야 활성화된 데 기인한 것으로 추론된다. 이러한 분석 결과는 향후 대학의 연구수준을 제고하기 위한 노력을 보다 체계화해야 한다는 것을 시사하며, 최근 진행되고 있는 정부의 기초연구 정책방향 전환이나 대학 내의 자체적인 개혁 움직임을 간접적으로 지지한다. 정부의 정책 전환과 함께 학내의 개선 노력이 합치되면 향후 우리나라 대학의 특허인용도 및 영향력이 훨씬 높아지게 될 것으로 기대할 수 있다.

물산업 시장과 기술 비교분석 (A comparative analysis on market and technology in water industry)

  • This study investgates Korean water technology through the water market perspective and analyses its competitiveness. Based on the water technology classification, water technology competitiveness is analysed through the technological influence index and market dominance index which are based on the extracted water technology patents from the US, Europe, Korea, and Japan for the last decade. As a result, the Korean water technology patents were lack in influence and competitiveness in global market considering the large volume of patents. There are two most tech-influential industries in Korea; manufacturing industry consisting pipes, sterilization, disinfection, and advanced water purification equipment, and construction industry including seawater desalination and water resource development. Due to the domestic usage of the patents, the Korean water technology patents scored low in global market PFS(Patent Family Size) index compared to their CPP(Cites Per Patent) index. The study is meaningful in a way that the analysis on Korean water technology competitiveness using water technology classification system and patent analysis was conducted based on the perspective of the global water market.

  • 특허분석은 전 세계적으로 축적된 특허 데이터베이스로부터 기업의 연구개발 전략에 필요한 지식을 추출하는 것이다. 현재까지 특허출원 결과를 분석하여 해당기술에 대한 기술동향과 전개과정을 파악하여 향후 개발될 기술에 대한 방향정립을 위하여 특허분석은 필요한 결과를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 특허분석과 관련된 방법 및 시스템에 대한 기술 분류를 수행하고 관련된 국내특허와 미국특허, 그리고 IEEE 논문을 조사하고 분석한다. 특허분석시스템은 기술 분야의 특성상 특허출원뿐만 아니라 연구결과의 논문발표도 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서 선정된 검색어를 통하여 최종적으로 검색된 결과를 이용하여 기술 분류에 따른 분석을 실시한다. 유효한 전체 특허와 논문을 대상으로 특허분석시스템에 필요한 공백기술을 찾아내기 위하여 매트릭스분석을 수행한다. 현재까지 등록된 특허분석시스템에 대한 기술발전 동향을 파악하고 앞으로 필요한 특허분석시스템 관련 기술발전 방향도 제시한다. 통계적 검정과 자기조직화 지도를 이용하여 유효 특허와 논문을 정량적으로 분석하여 국내특허, 미국특허, 그리고 논문 내에서 상대적으로 개발이 취약한 기술을 찾아내고 이에 대한 개발의 필요성도 함께 제시한다.

오일샌드 기술(技術)의 특허정보(特許) 분석(分析) (Patent Analysis of Oil Sands Technologies)

  • 오일샌드는 원유성분이 함유되어 있는 모래로 종전에는 높은 생산비용으로 인하여 큰 관심을 받지 못했지만, 최근 초고유가 시대를 맞아 새로운 대체 원유로서 세계적으로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 오일샌드로부터 합성원유 생산과 관련되어 한국을 포함하여 미국, 캐나다, 일본, 유럽, 중국에서 공개된 출원특허를 대상으로 분석하였고, 전체기술을 채굴, 추출, 개질, 연료화, 기타 기술로 나누어 세부기술 분석을 실시하였다. 오일샌드로부터 합성원유 생산 기술에 관한 특허는 1969년에 첫 출원이 이루어진 후, 꾸준히 출원건수를 보이고 있으며 특히 국제유가변동 추이에 출원건수가 영향을 받는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 미국과 캐나다 특허의 점유율이 전체의 약 90%로 오일샌드 기술을 주도하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 전체 기술 특허 중 추출 기술과 채굴 기술이 77% 이상을 차지하여 가장 활발한 활동을 보였지만, 2000년대 이후에는 출원건수가 감소하거나 일정한 양상을 보이고 있다. 반면, 개질 기술은 출원건수가 최근 들어 증가하고 있는데. 이는 근래에 관련 기술 중 개질 기술에 대한 연구가 활발함을 나타내고 있다.

침과 관련된 특허의 최근 동향 분석 (Analysis on the recent trends of acupuncture related patents)

  • Aims: We have examined and analyzed trends of acupuncture related patents to understand the status of acupuncture technology and research trends of acupuncture in major countries including Korea, the United States, European Union and Japan. Methods: To analyze the patents, we searched and analyzed the total of 1,048 on-line DB based patents under time limit of July, 2006. Results: According to the search results, Korea is mostly superior compared to the others in number of domestic patents. However, Korea patents is inferior in number of international patents and leave much to be desired in industrial applications because of low patents barrier of personal patents and the absence of prospective clients. In addition, in this study, we show an index of international competitiveness and preliminary data of necessity of international cooperation in a field of acupuncture researches. Conclusion: These data suggest that Korea has strong possibility to recover competitiveness for guaranteeing valuable patents, if there are international cooperation and intensive managements of industries in advanced country markets.

Word2Vec 학습을 통한 의미 기반 해외 유사 특허 검색 방안 (Identifying Similar Overseas Patent Using Word2Vec-Based Semantic Text Analytics)

  • Recently, the number of patent applications have been increasing rapidly every year as the importance of protecting intellectual property rights becomes more important. Patents must be inventive and have novelty. Especially, the novelty implies that the corresponding invention is not the same as the previous invention. To confirm the novelty, prior art search must be conducted before and after the application. The target of prior art search should include not only Korean patents but also foreign patents. Search of foreign patents should be supported by multilingual search techniques. However, a dictionary-based naive approach shows a limitation because some technical concepts are represented in different terms according to each nation. For example, a Korean term and a Japanese term may not be synonym even though they represent the same technical concept. In this paper, we propose a new method to map semantic similarity between technical terms in Korean patents and Japanese patents. To investigate different representations in each nation for the same technical concept, we identified and analyzed pairs of patents those are mutually connected with priority claim relationship. By performing an experiment with real-world data, we showed that our approach can reveal semantically similar technical terms in other language successfully.
