SOLAR OBSERVATIONAL SYSTEM OF KYUNGHEE UNIVERSITY (경희대학교 태양관측시스템)

  • We have developed solar observational system in the department of Astronomy & Space Sciences of KyungHee University, in order to monitor solar activities and construct solar database for space weather forecasting at maximum of 23rd solar cycle, as well as an solar education and exercise for undergraduate students. Our solar observational system consists of the full disk monitoring system and the regional observation system for H a fine structure. Full disk monitoring system is made of an energy rejection filter, 16cm refractor, video CCD camera and monitor. Monitored data are recorded to VHS video tape and analog output of video CCD can be captured as digital images by the computer with video graphic card. Another system for regional observation of the sun is made of energy rejection filter, 21cm Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector, H a filter with 1.6A pass band width and $375\times242$ CCD camera. We can observe H a fine structure in active regions of solar disk and solar limb, by using this system. We have carried out intense solar observations for a test of our system. It is found that Quality of our H a image is as good as that of solar images provided by Space Environmental Center. In this paper, we introduce the basic characteristics of the KyungHee Solar Observation System and result of our solar observations. We hope that our data should be used for space weather forecasting with domestic data of RRL(Radio Research Laboratory) and SOFT(SOlar Flare Telescope).

The Effects of Manual Therapy and Therapeutic Exercise in Patient with Acute Lumbar Sprain: Case Study (급성 요추염좌에 대한 도수치료와 치료적 운동이 미치는 효과 : 단일사례연구)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to effect of the manual therapy and pelvic floor muscle exercise interventions in patient with acute lumbar sprain. Based on this, proceed to present an effective physical treatments. Methods: Subject was 55 year old female patient with acute lumbar sprain. Subject was damaged, wash in the morning. Subject was hoping to return to work and Activity daily living (ADL) without pain. I proceed in order screening, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment planning and intervention, re-screening. To solving problem, was conducted in parallel to a manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. Results: To investigate changes in body functions and activities was measured, Visual analog scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI), changes in posture, maintain in posture, 10m walk test. The improved results were compared before and three weeks after mediation interventions. Conclusions: Frequency manual therapy and pelvic floor muscle exercise is thought to be an efficient way of patients with acute lumbar sprain.

The relationship between neck pain and psychological state in female office workers. (경항부 통증과 심리적 상태와의 상관성에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between pain and psychological state in female office workers with neck pain. Methods : Experimental group of 31 healthy subjects complained of neck and arm discomfort related to computer use which lasted more than 3 months in the past year and was present in the past 7 days as well as on the day of test. Outcomes were assessed by meridian-electromyography(MEMG), Neck Disability Index(NDI), Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Stress Reaction Inventory(SRI), Holmes & Rahe Social Readjustment Rating Scale(SRRS). Results : The NDI score and BDI score had a correlationship(r=0.48), and the NDI score and SRI score also had a correlationship(r=0.48), significantly. The NDI score and contraction power of upper trapezius by MEMG had a correlationship significantly, but with the other muscles the NDI score didn't have correlationships. The NDI score and the SRI score were significantly higher in depression group(BDI score ${\circ}{\surd}$14). The contraction power of trapezius by MEMG was significantly lower in depression group. Conclusions : The results suggest that mental stress can be a major risk factor of neck pain in female office workers.

WLP and New System Packaging Technologies

  • The Wafer Level Packaging is one of the most important technologies in the semiconductor industry today. Its primary advantages are its small form factor and low cost potential for manufacturing including test procedure. The CASIO's WLP samples, application example and the structure are shown in Fig.1, 2&3. There are dielectric layer , under bump metal, re-distribution layer, copper post , encapsulation material and terminal solder .The key technologies are 'Electroplating thick copper process' and 'Unique wafer encapsulation process'. These are very effective in getting electrical and mechanical advantages of package. (Fig. 4). CASIO and CMK are developing a new System Packaging technology called the Embedded Wafer Level Package (EWLP) together. The active components (semiconductor chip) in the WLP structure are embedded into the Printed Wiring Board during their manufacturing process. This new technical approach has many advantages that can respond to requirements for future mobile products. The unique feature of this EWLP technology is that it doesn't contain any solder interconnection inside. In addition to improved electrical performance, EWLP can enable the improvement of module reliability. (Fig.5) The CASIO's WLP Technology will become the effective solution of 'KGD problem in System Packaging'. (Fig. 6) The EWLP sample shown in Fig.7 including three chips in the WLP form has almost same structure wi_th SoC's. Also, this module technology are suitable for RF and Analog system applications.   • In the following paper, new architectural algorithm of clock and data recovery circuit is proposed for 622.08 Mbps optical communication receiver. New algorithm makes use of charge pump PLL using voltage controlled ring oscillator and extracts 8-channel 77.76 MHz clock signals, which are delayed by i/8 (i=1,2, ...8), to convert and recover 8-channel parallel data from 662.08 Mbps MRZ serial data. This circuit includes clock genration block to produce clock signals continuously even if input data doesn't exist. And synchronization of data and clock is doen by the method which compares 1/2 bit delayed onput data and decided dta by extracted clock signals. Thus, we can stabilize frequency and phase of clock signal even if input data is distorted or doesn't exist and simplify receiver architecture compared to traditional receiver's. Also it is possible ot realize clock extraction, data decision and conversion simulataneously. Verification of this algorithm is executed by DESIGN CENTER (version 6.1) using test models which are modelized by analog behavior modeling and digital circuit model, modified to process input frequency sufficiently, in SPICE.

8bit 100MHz DAC design for high speed sampling (고속 샘플링 8Bit 100MHz DAC 설계)

  • This paper described an 8bit, 100Msample/s CMOS D/A converter using a glitch-time minimization technique for the high-speed sampling rate of 100MHz level. The proposed DAC was implemented in $0.35{\mu}m$ Hynix CMOS technology and adopts a current mode architecture to optimize sampling rate, resolution, chip area. The DAC linear characteristics was similar to the proposed specification and the prototype error between DNL and INL is less than $\pm$0.09LSB respectively. Also, the manufactured DAC chip was analyzed the cause of error operation and proposed the field considerations for chip test.

The Relationship between Risk Taking, Impulsivity and Intolerance of Uncertainty (위험감수와 충동성 및 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족의 관련성)

  • Objectives Risk taking has been implicated in the development of various psychiatric disorders. Previous studies have indicated that risk taking behavior is associated with high levels of impulsiveness. Risk taking entail uncertain situation that outcome probability is unknown. This study tested impulsivity, intolerance of uncertainty and risk taking behavior. Methods A total of 73 participants completed a test battery comprised of the UPPS-P scale as a psychometric measurement of five dimensions of impulsivity, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale, and Balloon Analog Risk Task (BART) as a behavioral measure of risk taking. The Pearson correlation analysis was used. Results The sensation seeking factor was positively correlated with BART measure (r = 0.27, p = 0.02). Specifically, the relationship between sensation seeking and BART was significant in females. Conclusions Among the five factors of UPPS-P, only the sensation seeking factor predicts risk taking propensity.

Development of Nondestructive Grouping System for Soil Organic Matter Using VIS and NIR Spectral Reflectance

  • This study was conducted to develop a nondestructive grouping system for soil organic matter using visible (VIS) and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopic method. The artificial light was irradiated on the cut soil surface at 15 to 20 cm depths to reduce the errors of light at open field. The reflectance energy from the cut soil surface was measured to group the soil organic matter using VIS/NIR light sensor with narrow band pass filter. From reflectance spectra of soil samples, the sensitive wavelengths for measuring the soil organic matter were selected and compared to previous research results. The grouping system for soil organic matter consisted of light sensor with band pass filter measuring the reflectance energy of the cut soil surface, global positing system (GPS), analog-to-digital (AD) converter, computer and operating software. The regression models to predict the soil organic matter were developed and evaluated. From field test, the accuracies of the developed light sensor system were 81.3% for five-stage grouping of the soil organic matters and 91.0% for three-stages grouping of the soil organic matters, respectively. It could be possible to support the decision making for variable rate applications with the developed grouping system for soil organic matter in precision agriculture.

  • This paper describes on-board decentralized data acquisition system that acquires and encodes the numerous sensor data distributed on the big flight vehicles efficiently. The system's sub-units which have one encoder unit and several remote units were designed and simulated according to the communication protocols and the control, sequence logics based on the FPGA chip. And we have made the functional verification of the acquisition, collection and formatting of remote analog and digital data for the manufactured hardwares.

  • A Digital Broadcasting Satellite (DBS) receiver converts digital A/V streams received from a satellite to analog NTSC A,/V signals in real-time. Multi-tasking is an efficient way to improve the utilization of the processor core in real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach with a balanced trade-off between hardware kernel and multi-tasking programming to increase a system throughput. First, the schedulability of the critical hard real-time tass in the DBS receiver is verified by using a simple feasibility test. Then. several soft real-time tasks are thoughtfully programmed to satisfy functional requirements of the system.
