Two-dimensional steady state simulations of planar type radio frequency inductively coupled plasma (RFICP) have been performed. The characteristics of RFICP were investigated in terms of power transfer efficiency, equivalent circuit analysis, spatial distribution of plasma density and electron temperature. Plasma density and electron temperature were determined from the equations of ambipolar diffusion and energy conservation. Joule heating, ionization, excitation and elastic collision loss were included as the source terms of the electron energy equation. The electromagnetic field was calculated from the vector potential formulation of ampere's law. The peak electron temperature decreases from about 4eV to 2eV as pressure increases from 5 mTorr to 100 mTorr. The peak density increases with increasing pressure. Electron temperatures at the center of the chamber are almost independent of input power and electron densities linearly increase with power level. The results agree well with theoretical analysis and experimental results. A single turn, edge feeding antenna configuration shows better density uniformity than a four-turn antenna system at relatively low pressure conditions. The thickness of the dielectric window should be minimized to reduce power loss. The equivalent resistance of the system increases with both power and pressure, which reflects the improvement of power transfer efficiency.

This paper deals with the design of a touch free eddy-current brake for high speed transportation systems by using 2-dimensional Finite Element Method (2-D FEM). The eddy current brake systems have to equipped with maximum braking force and deceleration at the given volume or mass, high braking force at small rate, attraction forces as small as possible and stable construction. The parameters, such as the number of pole, electric ampere-turns and slot width have influence on these braking characteristics. For the magnet to satisfy above-mentioned performance in high speed, the braking performance according to variation of the parameters are analyzed by the 2-D FEM. In addition, the magnet stack width is determined from equivalent stack width that is calculated by solution of the Field with scalar potential. From these results, the magnet of optimized configuration with maximum braking force and minimum attraction force is designed by the process of detail design.

Structural model of laminated composite plates based on the first order shear deformable plate theory and subjected to a combination of magnetic and thermal fields is developed. Coupled equations of motion are derived via Hamilton's principle on the basis of electromagnetic equations (Faraday, Ampere, Ohm, and Lorentz equations) and thermal ones which are involved in constitutive equations. In order to reveal the implications of a number of geometrical and physical features of the model, free vibration of a composite plate immersed in a transversal magnetic field and subjected to a temperature gradient is considered. Special coupling effects between the magnetic-thermal-elastic fields are revealed in this paper.

The forces involved in the firing of the electromagnetic rail gun may be analyzed from Amperian, Maxwellian and Einsteinian approaches. This paper discusses these different paradigms with regard to rail gun performance modeling relating to the generation and balance of the forces caused by the currents and their induced magnetic fields. Recent experimental work on model rail guns, where the armature is held static, shows very little recoil upon the rails, thereby indicating a possible violation of Newton's Third Law of Motion. Dynamic testing to show this violation, as suggested by the authors in an earlier paper, has inherent technical difficulties. A purpose-built finite element C/C++ simulator that models that suspended rail gun firing action shows a net force acting upon the entire rail gun system. A new effect in physics, universal in scope, is thus indicated: a current circulating in an asymmetric and rigid circuit causes a net force to act upon the circuit for the duration of the current. This conclusion following from computer simulation based upon Maxwellian electrodynamics as opposed to the more modern relativistic quantum electrodynamics needs to be supported by unambiguous experimental validation.

This paper propose a improved direct torque control(DTC) system for improving operation of five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM). A five-phase IM drives present unique characteristics due to the additional degrees of freedom and also drives possess many others advantage compared with the traditional three-phase motor drive system, such as reducing a amplitude of torque pulsation and increasing the reliability. In order to maximize the torque per ampere, the proposed motor has concentrated windings and the produced back-electromotive force(EMF) is almost trapezoidal, and the motor is supplied with the combined sinusoidal plus third harmonic of currents, there is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current. Also a DTC method is advantageous when it is applied to the five-phase IM, because the five-phase inverter provides 32 space vectors in comparison to 8 space voltage vectors into the three-phase inverter drive system. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed DTC, experimental results of speed control are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[hp] IM.

The back emf harmonics of a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor is a major source of torque ripple. For torque control applications including column fitted MDPS (motor driven power steering) systems, it is essential to reduce the mechanical vibrations due to torque ripples at low speeds. In this paper, a torque ripple reduction algorithm for interior PM synchronous motors is proposed. The harmonic currents that cancel the $6^{th}$ order torque harmonic are added to the nominal dq currents for MTPA (maximum torque per ampere) operation. The compensated harmonic currents are derived from flux linkage harmonics based on a FFT analysis of the back emf harmonics. Simulation and experimental results verify that the $6^{th}$ order torque harmonic and THD of the torque ripple are reduced by compensating the dq harmonic currents.
Linear proportional-integral (PI) controllers are an attractive choice for controlling the speed of induction machines because of their simplicity and ease of implementation. Fractional-order PI (FO-PI) controllers, however, perform better than PI controllers because of their nonlinear nature and the underlying iso-damping property of fractional-order operators. In this work, an FO-PI controller based on the proposed first-order plus dead-time induction motor model and integer-order (IO) controllers, such as Ziegler-Nichols PI, Cohen-Coon PI, and a PI controller tuned via trial-and-error method, is designed. Simulation and experimental investigation on an indirect field-oriented induction motor drive system proves that the proposed FO-PI controller has better speed tracking, lesser settling time, better disturbance rejection, and lower speed tracking error compared with linear IO-PI controllers. Our experimental study also validates that the FO-PI controller maximizes the torque per ampere output of the induction machine and can effectively control the motor at low speed, in field-weakening regions, and under detuned conditions.

The defect like the void or seam is frequently generated in the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Via-Filling plating inside via hole. The organic additives including the accelerating agent, inhibitor, leveler, and etc. are needed for the copper Via-Filling plating without this defect for the plating bath. However, the decomposition of the organic additive reduces the lifetime of the plating bath during the plating process, or it becomes the factor reducing the reliability of the Via-Filling. In this paper, the interaction of each organic additives and the decomposition of additive were discussed. As to the accelerating agent, the bis (3-sulfopropyl) disulfide (SPS) and leveler the Janus Green B (JGB) and inhibitor used the polyethlylene glycol 8000 (PEG). The research on the interaction of the organic additives and decomposition implemented in the galvanostat method. The additive decomposition time was confirmed in the plating process from 0 Ah/l (AmpereHour/ liter) to 100 Ah/l with the potential change.

An investigation on the A/V(ampere/volt) gradient according to the concentration and the kind of solution in a electrolyzer is carried out to obtain the basic data on the ultrasonic application for the efficiency elevation of the hydrogen fuel production. KOH is selected as an electrolyte and concentrations are 0%, 10%, 20% and 30%. The solutions are city water, city water with nitrogen. distilled water and distilled water with nitrogen. The Electrochemical analyzer(BAS Co.) is used as a measuring device to observe the A/V gradient. And the limit of volt is from -3000mV to +3000mV. The 28kHz magnetic transducer is selected to give them ultrasonic forcing. In results, it is clarified that ultrasonic influences the A/V gradient in the electrolytic solution.
