Quantitative analysis of the fatty acids contained in Amorpha-fruticosa seeds was carried out by means of gas chromatography with F.I.D. The general components and chemical constants have been performed with A.O.A.C methods. The results are summarized as follow: 1. General components of Amorpha-fruticosa seeds come out to be 17.65% moisture, 21.02% crude protein, 12.04% crude lipid and 5.37% ash. 2. Extraction of crude lipids were performed by soxhlet extractor for 14 hour. Amounts of the crude lipids were extracted 80.25% in ether, 80.00% in methanol, 77.34% in benzene and 69.96% in hexane. 3. Chemical constants of Amorpha-fruticosa seed oil were saponification number 178.67, acid number 3.11 and iodine number 54.27. 4. The fatty acid components of Amorpha-fruticosa seeds were quantitatively determined by gas chromatography to give 78.73wt% linoleic, 5.8wt% oleic, 5.68wt% palmitic, 4.8wt% stearic and 3.40wt% linolenic acid in ether solvent and to give 77.86wt% linoleic, 7.77wt% palmitic, 5.84wt oleic and 4.97wt% stearic acid in methanol solvent. The peak of capric acid was not found. Myristic, arachidic and lauric acids were very small.
This study was carried out identify extractives of Amorpha fruticosa. In this study, one flavonoid glycoside, one ester and two rotenoids were isolated from fruits of A. fruticosa. The structures were determined as: kaempferol 7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (I), methyl 3, 4, 5-trihydroxybenzoate (methyl gallate, II), tephrosin (III) and dalbinol (IV), respectively, on the basis of spectroscopic data.
In order to study on the utility for feed of several leguminosae tree leaves, the leaves of Lespedeza spp., Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia were collected from several places of Daejon city and Daeduck-Kun at the different growing seasons. The leaf productivities, the change of the contents of chemical components on the different growing seasons. and the palatability trial were determined. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Leaf productivities of Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia were higher than that of Lespedeza spp., and the highest production of Amorpha' fruticosa was showed in august and that of Robinia pseudo acacia was showed in september. 2. Crude protein contents of Lespedeza spp., Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia were determined to 12.6, 18.63 and 15.87% respectively and the protein contents of them showed gradual decrease as growing. 3. Crude fat contents of Lespedeza spp., Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia were determined to 9.00, 5.85 and 4.70% respectively, and they displayed gradual increase as growing, 4. Crude fiber contents of Lespedeza spp., Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia were determined to 14.97, 12.61 and 9.80% respectively, and they showed gradual increase as growing. 5. The content of nitrogen free extract of Robinia pseudo acacia showed higher than those of Lespedeza spp. and Amorpha fruticosa, and all of them displayed gradual decrease as growing. 6. Crude ash contents of Lespedeza spp., Amorpha fruticosa and Robinia pseudo acacia determined to 4.40, 4.98 and 5.27% respectively, and variable changes were appeared as growing. 7. The results of palatability trial for three leaves showed superior to the order of Lespedeza spp., Robinia pseudo acacia and Amorpha fruticosa, and the dried leaves were more favorable than green leaves.
Root nodule biomass, and seedling biomass and growth were examined for 2-year-old Robinia pseudoacacia and Amorpha fruticosa seedlings following fertilization treatments. Organic fertilizer, solid combination fertilizer, and organic fertilizer plus solid combination fertilizer were used for the study. Root nodule biomass (g/plant) ranged from 3.00 to 7.06 for R. pseudoacacia and varied from 1.52 to 2.32 for A. fruticosa, respectively. In all treatments, root nodule biomass of R. pseudoacacia was significantly higher than those of A. fruticosa. Fertilization significantly increased root nodule biomass for only R. pseudoacacia, however, there were no significant differences in root nodule biomass among fertilization treatments. Root nodule biomass was not influenced by soil nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) concentrations following fertilization treatments. Seedling biomass (components and total) and growth (diameter at root collar and height) were strongly correlated with root nodule biomass for the two N fixing tree species.

This study was performed to experiment about useful biological activities of the parts of the extracts from Amorpha fruticosa LINNE. Experimental studies were progressed through the anticancer activities and immune activities such as cell cytotoxicity, inhibition activities of cell growth, cell growth of human B and T cell, productivity of cytokines and natural killer cell activities. The cell cytotoxicity using human Lung normal cell (HEL299) was showed cytotoxicity of below 22% by extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. in 1.0 g/l concentration. The anticancer activities were increased in over 70% by roots extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. in A549 and AGS cells. The immune cell growth using human immune B and T cells was increased against control by barks extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. The secretion of cytokines $(IL-6,\;TNF-{\alpha})$ from human immune B and T cells was showed secretion of the amount of cytokines by roots extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. Also NK cell growth was increased against control all of the extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. From the results, the roots and barks extracts of Amorpha fruticosa L. were showed useful biological activities.
This study was carried out to examine the constituents of Amorpha fruticosa (Leguminosae), a shrub originated from North Africa. Dried and ground fruit of A. fruticosa were extracted with methanol and then concentrated to give the crude extracts. The crude extracts was successively fractioned with organic sovents, such as n-hexane, CH$_2$Cl$_2$ and EtOAc. Seven compounds were isolated from the fruits of A. fruticosa. On the basis of spectrosopic data, the structures of these compounds were determined as: kaempferol 7-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranoside (I), methyl 3,4,5- trihydroxybenzoate (methyl gallate, II), tephrosin (III), dalbinol (IV), gallic acid (V), 2",4",5",7-tetramethoxyisofavone (Ⅵ) and Dalbinol 2"-O-${\beta}$-D-Glucopyranoside (Ⅶ) respectively. This study was carried out to select the useful plants for the revegetation of flooded slopes in dams, lakes and streams. In this study, four woody plants were investigated for their survival and growth in nursery with various flooding conditions. The results are as follows: Salix gracilistyla showed a very high survival rate and grew continuously under the complete flooding condition. Especially, it grew better under partly flooding condition than non-flooding condition. Amorpha fruticosa showed growth disorder when the flooding period was over 30 days, but the part of stem which was flooded in water adapted itself by branching the adventitious roots. Wisteria floribunda showed respectively high flooding tolerance until 30 days. Lespedeza bicolor were very weak in excessive moisture and flooding conditions. This study confirmed Salix gracilistyla, Amorpha fruticosa and Wisteria floribunda are efficient woody plants for covering the flooded slopes of dam and various impoundment sites.

This study was conducted to select environmentally-friendly and low-cost mulching material that could replace soil molding which can be used to restore vegetation in an abandoned coal mine area. To this end, we established 20 experimental plots (4m ${\times}$ 10m in size) on the steep, south west-facing slope of the abandoned coal mine area in Hwangji-Dong, Taebaek City, Gangwon Province in April 2006. We planted two-year-old 1,600 seedlings (at intervals of 0.6m ${\times}$ 0.8m) of drought-resistant tree species including Betula schmidtii, Betula platyphylla var. japonica, Amorpha fruticosa, and Quercus mongolica in the plots. After planting seedlings, mulching was applied by using five different kinds of material such as HWAP (Teracotem), peat moss, straw mats, wood chips, and control (no-mulching) and the effects of different mulching material on the survival rate and growth performance were compared. Three years after planting, the survival rate was the highest in wood chip mulching, followed by straw-mat, peat moss, HWAP, and control. The survival rate was the highest in Quercus mongolica, followed by Betula schmidtii, Betula platyphylla var. japonica, and Amorpha fruticosa. Meanwhile the height growth was the best in Betula platyphylla var. japonica, followed by Betula schmidtii, Quercus mongolica, and Amorpha fruticosa. The height growth of seedlings was the best in HWAP mulching, followed by peat moss, woody chips, straw mat, and control. From an economic point of view, wood chips are considered to be the best mulching material. The results showed that mulching without soil molding and/or mixing applications would be effective for restoring vegetation in an abandoned coal mine areas.

This study was conducted to get the basic data on an effect of food waste compost for rock cut-slopese vegetation. Two foreign cool-season grasses and native plants were used for this experiment. Cool-season grasses were Festuca ruba and Lolium perene, Native plants were Amorpha fruticosa, and Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria. Amorpha fruticosa, Indigofera psendo-tinctoria, and Lolium perenne decreased in germination rate and plant height at NaCl concentrations of $0.4\%$ or over suddenly. Festuca rubra occurred to the sudden growth hindrance at NaCl concentrations of $0.2\%$ or over. Amorpha fruticosa and Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria appeared for germination of $45\%$ at all experiment plots. Lolium perenne increased in plant height as trial rate of food waste compost was abundant. Ground cover rate was the highest in Mixture III by $89.3\%$ and was fluctuated from $47.0\%$ after 30 days to $64.1\%$ after 45 days in Mixture 1. Descending order of ground cover rates in 4 treatments was Mixture III, Mixture IV, Mixture II, and Mixture I. As the growth
