The purpose of this study was to understand the effects of religion on Amish costumes. For this study I twice visited Amish village in Lancaster Pennsylvania U.S,A in July 1993 and August 1996. The methods of study directed direct observation and literature re-search. The results of this study were as follows: The Amish was livid practically by strict princi- ples of simplicity diligence piety and mutual cooperation. The Amish behavioral code of laws known as ordnung dictated appropriate dress agricultual methods and a routine for daily life. The Amish costumes originated with the 17th century Puritans traditional apparel the European farmer and the clothing style of 19th century Americal,. Amish costumes was fastened with hooks and eyes instead of decorative buttons a diret influence of Puritanism does and did non con-tain ornamental outer pockets. This distinctively simple costumes served as a boundary outsiders to and as a direct ex-pression of their faith. An Amish doll had neither facial features nor fingers and toes as described in scripture "You do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol an image of any shape whether formed like a man or a women or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below" In this way Amish costumes was affected by their religion and faith.

Amish 집단(미국 오하이오주 홈스카운터 거주)의 vitamin E 영양상태를 24시간 회상법, 영양보충제의 사용량 조사 colorimetric법에 의한 혈장 vitamin E의 분석으로 평가하였다 평균식이 섭취 vitamin E는 7.4mg a-tocopherol equivalent였으며 평균 181.4 IU는 영양보충제로 섭취했다 전체 vitamin E의 67.7% 는 식이를 통해 섭취했으며 32.4%는 영양보충제를 복용함으로 섭취했다 평균 혈장 vitamin E 농도는 13.4mg/ml였다 혈장 vitamin E와 영양제로 복용한 vitamin E 사이에는 유의적인 상관과계가(r=0.489 p=0.0001)를 보여주었고 혈장 vitamin E와 연령과도 상관관계(r-0.216, p=0.0017)가 있었다 Amish 집단의 vitamin E 영양상태는 충분했으며 이집단 중의 어떤 자들은 고단위의 다량의 vitamin E 영양제를 복용하고 있어 vitamin E에 대한 올바른 정보를 알려주고 효율적인 영양교육을 시킬 필요성이 요청되었다.

Ellis-van Creveld syndrome is a rare congenital genetic disorder having autosomal recessive inheritance. It is a syndrome affecting the Amish population of Pennsylvania in USA with prevalence rate of 1/5,000 live at birth. In non-Amish population, the birth prevalence is 7/1,000,000. The syndrome is characterized by bilateral postaxial polydactyly of the hands, chondrodysplasia of long bones resulting in acromesomelic dwarfism, ectodermal dysplasia affecting nails as well as teeth and congenital heart malformation. There were very rare reports of this syndrome in dentistry. The present case focuses on the striking and constant oral findings of these patients, which are the main diagnostic features of this syndrome. Since the oral manifestations affect the esthetic, speech, and jaw growth of the child, the dentists have an important role to play in proper management of such case.

The purpose of this study is to suggest an environmentally friendly system of ecological village with the reference to amish village, and also to make a proposal for application skill of ecological village. Ecological village is environmentally friendly lifestyle and an alternative plan of environmental pollution. There is growing international scientific consensus that human activities are having a discernible effect on the global climate. Up to now, the development of ecological village has been actively initiated and still continues by some venture farmers with a vision and strong will. These study results are definitely very conducive to spread ecological village knowledge among the public.

The relation of food and supplemental intake of iron, vitamin E and ascorbic acid and other lifestyle variables to packed cell volume (PCV) and serum vitamin levels was studied in urban and rural (71% Amish) communities. Subjects were interviewed (24-h dietary recalls) on three occasions over 18-months, and blood samples were taken (maximum observations = 442). Mean PCV was lower in rural males (43.3) than in urban males (45.4) despite higher man food iron intake (18.7 and 14.4 mg/day, respectively). Mean meal iron availability was higher at lunch and lower at breakfast and dinner for rural than for urban subjects. Smoking was the number one variable in males and females explaining variance in PCV. Supplemental vitamin E and ascorbate intakes explained the most variance in serum vitamin E and ascorbate levels, respectively. Serum vitamin E was also associated with supplemental ascorbate intake (r=0.29). Serum ascorbate was also associated with food ascorbate intake (r=0.28) and body weight (r=-0.24).

If life styles are to become less dependent on ecological resources and reduce externalities, same as Ecological communal, then a wide range of renewable energy technologies and energy saving measures are required. Up to now, the development of ecological communal has been actively initiated and still continues by some venture farmers whit a vision and strong will. These study results are definitely very conducive to spread ecological communal knowledge among the public.

자본주의 산업사회는 현대 물질문명의 발달과 궤를 같이하며 현재에 이르는 동안 유사 이래 인류가 일찍이 경험하지 못한 물질적 풍요를 가져왔다. 반면, 모든 자원은 경제성장을 위한 수단으로만 이용되었다. 이러한 성장과정에서 자연이라는 자본은 지속적으로 고갈되어 왔고 환경오염의 수반은 필연적 결과였다. 더욱이 물질 만능주의에 따른 인간성의 피폐화라는 부작용을 야기하기에 이르렀다. 따라서 이러한 문제에 대한 해결책은 단순히 경제적 측면에서만이 아닌 사회적 경제적 환경적인 제 측면에서 동시에 복합적으로 고려해야 실마리를 풀 수 있다.
