The microstructure and mechanical properties of a copper alloy sheet processed by differential speed rolling (DSR) were investigated in detail. A copper alloy with thickness of 3 mm was rolled to a 50% reduction at ambient temperature without lubrication and with a differential speed ratio of 2.0:1. For comparison, conventional rolling (CR), in which the rolling speeds of the upper and lower rolls is 2.0 m/min, was also performed under the same rolling conditions. The shear strain of the sample processed by CR showed positive values at the positions of the upper roll side and negative values at the positions of the lower roll side. On the other hand, the sample processed by the DSR showed zero or positive shear strain values at all positions. However, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-rolled copper alloys did not show such significant differences between the CR and the DSR. The samples rolled by the CR and the DSR exhibited a typical deformation structure. In addition, the DSR processed samples showed a typical rolling texture in which {112}<111>, {011}<211> and {123}<634> components were developed at all positions. Therefore, it is concluded that the DSR was very effective for the introduction of a uniform microstructure throughout the thickness of the copper alloy.
In order to manufacture large rod preforms of 2014 Al alloy with a good mechanical property by spray forming method, it was spray-formed at a droplet temperature of $715^{\circ}C$, a droplet flight distance of 400mm, and a spraying angle of $35^{\circ}$. The rod preforms were extruded at $397^{\circ}C$ with the die temperature of $420^{\circ}C$ under the hot extrusion ratio 21:1 and T6 heat treatment was performed. The 2014 Al alloys cast by hot top process were also extruded and heat-treated at the same condition as a reference material. Microstructural observation and tensile test were carried out to investigate the effects of extrusion on microstructure and mechanical property of spray-formed Al alloy. Spray-formed Al alloys had many porosities due to inappropriate process conditions such as long droplet flight distance and low droplet temperature but have fine equiaxed grain. These porosities were reduced with decreasing in grain size by hot extrusion. Ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of spray formed-extruded 2014 Al alloy were inferior to those of the normal cast-extruded 2014 Al alloy, but elongations were superior. The control of porosity was important to get spray formed preform with a good mechanical property.

Alloy 625 is used widely in industrial applications such as aeronautical aerospace, chemical, petrochemical and marine applications. Because of a good combination of yield strength. tensile strength, creep strength, excellent fabricability, weldability and good resistance to high temperature corrosion on prolonged exposure to aggressive environments. High qualify weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. But all of processes are not applicable to this material by reason of unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding filler metals and fluxes may limit the choice of welding processes. Recently, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for the better productivity in several welding position including the vortical position. In this study. the weldability and weldment characteristics of Alloy 625 are evaluated in FCAW weld associated with the several shielding gases($80\%Ar+20\%\;CO_2,\;50\%Ar+50\%\;CO_2.\;100\%\;CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity. The results of the experimental study on corrosive characteristics of Alloy 625 are as follows; There is no remarkable difference among shielding gases. however they has a striking difference among corrosive solutions by results of distinguished density and time of corrosive solution. Generally, the shielding gases($80\%Ar+20\%\;CO_2$) was superior to the other gases on high temperature tensile and a low temperature impact. but all of the shield gases were making satisfactory results on corrosion test.

One of the barriers limiting wide applications of magnesium alloys to various industries is their poor corrosion resistance. The corrosion properties of AZ91 magnesium alloy, which is the most popular magnesium casting alloy, are affected by microstructural and environmental factors. The corrosion properties of AZ91 magnesium alloy are affected by the corrosion properties of ${\alpha}-Mg$ and ${\beta}$ phases, the volume fraction and distribution of ${\beta}$ phase and area ratio of ${\alpha}-Mg/{\beta}$ phases. The corrosion properties of AZ91 magnesium alloy under various environments also change according to the passivity of films and types of corrosion products formed on its surface. The corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloys can be improved by microstructural control through the addition of alloying elements and optimization of the production process.
Needle-like NiO protecting layers on NiCrAl alloy foam, used as support for hydrogen production, are introduced through electroplated Ni and subsequent microwave annealing. To improve the stability of the NiCrAl alloy foam, oxygen concentration of microwave annealing to form a needle-like NiO layer with good chemical stability and corrosion resistance is controlled in a range of 20 and 50 %. As the oxygen concentration increases to 50 %, needle-like NiO forms a dense coating layer on the NiCrAl alloy foam; this layer formation can be attributed to accelerated growth of the (200) plane. In addition, the increased oxygen concentration causes increased NiO/Ni ratio of the resultant coating layer on NiCrAl alloy foam due to improved rate of the oxidation reaction. As a result, the introduction of dense needle-like NiO layers formed at 50 % oxygen concentration improves the chemical stability of the NiCrAl alloy foam by protecting the direct electrochemical reaction between the electrolyte and the foam. Thus, needle-like NiO can be proposed as a superb protecting layer to improve the chemical stability of NiCrAl alloy form.
The segregation (distribution) of nickel and the composition of its constituents influence the low thermal expansion characteristics (Invar effect) in Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xC Invar alloy. The change of coefficient of the thermal expansion and magnetic properties were studied as an aspect of carbon addition causing the segregation of Ni in primary austenite of as-cast Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co Invar alloy. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xC Invar alloy showed its lowest value at 0.08 wt.% carbon, increased with increasing carbon content in the range of 0.08-1.0 wt.%C, kept constant at 1.0-2.0 wt.%C and decreased at carbon higher than 2.0 wt.%. The effective distribution of the coefficient of nickel in as-cast Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xC Invar alloy increased with increasing carbon content. The volume fraction of they phase of Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xC alloy increased with increasing carbon content. The microstructure of Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xC alloy changed with the carbon content was independent of the coefficient of thermal expansion. The Curie temperature changed linearly with the carbon content and was similar to the change of the coefficient of thermal expansion. Moreover, the coefficient of thermal expansion decreased when the ratio of saturation magnetization to Curie temperature ($\sigma_s/T_c$) increased, decreasing the Curie temperature and showed a specific relationship with the magnetic properties of the Fe-30 wt.% Ni-12.5 wt.% Co-xCInvar alloy.
Mo(Ti) alloy and pure Cu thin films were subsequently deposited on $SiO_2-coated$ Si wafers, resulting in $Cu/Mo(Ti)/SiO_2$ structures. The multi-structures have been annealed in vacuum at $100-600^{\circ}C$ for 30 min to investigate the outdiffusion of Ti to Cu surface. Annealing at high temperature allowed the outdiffusion of Ti from the Mo(Ti) alloy underlayer to the Cu surface and then forming $TiO_2$ on the surface, which protected the Cu surface against $SiH_4+NH_3$ plasma during the deposition of $Si_3N_4$ on Cu. The formation of $TiO_2$ layer on the Cu surface was a strong function of annealing temperature and Ti concentration in Mo(Ti) underlayer. Significant outdiffusion of Ti started to occur at $400^{\circ}C$ when the Ti concentration in Mo(Ti) alloy was higher than 60 at.%. This resulted in the formation of $TiO_2/Cu/Mo(Ti)\;alloy/SiO_2$ structures. We have employed the as-deposited Cu/Mo(Ti) alloy and the $500^{\circ}C-annealed$ Cu/Mo(Ti) alloy as gate electrodes to fabricate TFT devices, and then measured the electrical characteristics. The $500^{\circ}C$ annealed Cu/Mo($Ti{\geq}60at.%$) gate electrode TFT showed the excellent electrical characteristics ($mobility\;=\;0.488\;-\;0.505\;cm^2/Vs$, on/off $ratio\;=\;2{\times}10^5-1.85{\times}10^6$, subthreshold = 0.733.1.13 V/decade), indicating that the use of Ti-rich($Ti{\geq}60at.%$) alloy underlayer effectively passivated the Cu surface as a result of the formation of $TiO_2$ on the Cu grain boundaries.
Microstructure and phase transformation of Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders produced by using attrition milling method were studied. Mixed powders of Ti-(50-X)Ni-XCu ($X=0{\sim}20$ at%) in composition range were mechanically alloyed for maximum 20 hours by using SUS 1/4" ball in argon atmosphere. Ball to powder ratio was 50: 1 and impeller speed was 350rpm. Mechanically alloyed with attrition millimg method. powder was heat treated at the temperature up to $850^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour in the $10^{-6}$ torr vacuum. Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders have been fabricated by attrition milling method. and then phase transformation behaviours and microstructual properties of the alloy powders were investigated to assist in improving the the high damping capacity of Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloy powders. The results obtained are as follows: 1. After heat treating of fully mechanically alloyed powder at $850^{\circ}C$ for 1hour. most of the B2 and B 19' phases was formed and $TiNi_3$ were coexisted. 2. The B 19' martensite were formed in Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders whose Cu-content is less than 5a/o. where as the B19 martensite in those whose Cu-content is more than 10at%. 3. The powders of as-milled Ti-Ni-Cu alloys whose Cu-contents is less than 5at% are amorphous. whereas those of as-milled Ti-Ni-Cu alloys whose Cu-content is more than 10at% are crystalline. This means that Cu addition tends to suppress amorphization of Ti-Ni alloy powders.

We fabricated plate typed shunt resistors composed of carbon nanotube (CNT) and metal alloy for measuring DC current. CNT plates were prepared from dispersed CNT/Urethane solution by squeezing method. Cu/Ni alloys were prepared from composition-designed alloy wires for adjusting the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) by pressing them. As well, we fabricated a hybrid resistor by squeezing the CNT/Urethane solution on the metal alloy plate directly. In order to confirm the composition ratio of the Cu/Ni alloy, we used an energy-dispersed X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Cross-section and surface morphology were analyzed by using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Finally, we measured the initial resistance of 2.35 Ω at 25℃ for the CNT paper resistor, 7.56 mΩ for the alloy resistor, and 7.38 mΩ for the hybrid resistor. The TCR was also measured to be -778.72 ppm/℃ at the temperature range between 25℃ to 125℃ for the CNT paper resistor, 824.06 ppm/℃ for the alloy resistor, and 17.61 ppm/℃ for the hybrid resistor. Some of the hybrid resistors showed a near-zero TCR of 1.38, -2.77, 2.66, and 5.49 ppm/℃, which might be the world best-value ever reported. Consequently, we could expect an error-free measurement of the DC current using this resistor.
