  • The size and surface effects on the magnetism of a fcc Fe (001) surface was investigated by performing firstprinciples calculations on 3, 5, 7, and 9 monolayers fcc Fe (001) single slabs with two different two-dimensional lattice constants, ${\alpha}=3.44{\AA}$ (System I) and 3.65 ${\AA}$ (System II), using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within a generalized gradient approximation. The surface layers were coupled ferromagnetically to the subsurface layer in both systems. However, the magnetism of the inner layers was quite different from each other. While all the inner layers of System II were ferromagnetically coupled in the same way as the surface layer, the inner layers of System I showed a peculiar magnetism, bilayer antiferromagnetism. The calculated spin magnetic moments per Fe atom were approximately 2.7 and 2.9 ${\mu}_B$ at the surface for Systems I and II, respectively, due to the almost occupied Fe d-state being in the majority spin state and band narrowing. The spin orientations of System I were out-of-plane regardless of its thickness, whereas the orientation of System II changed from out-of-plane to in-plane with increasing thickness.

  • The railway system consists of rolling stocks, facilities, electrical system, signaling and operation and so on, organically bound. Recently due to lots of train failures and accidents, especially the derailment related to track irregularity this year, all the people using the train are worried about railway safety and we paved the way for letting them knowing that all components of railway system are so important. As a result, most of developed countries operating railway have used to risk assessment methods about safety management to prevent railroad accidents in advance. The purpose of this paper is to find out how to closely apply to track field for risk assessment methods. Because there is no case to apply to and we're not interested in yet, despite of importance of track, in situations of higher train speed. Therefore, in this study we're going to investigate risk assessment methods and compare enire railway system with track system, eventually we want us try to present to safety management conditions necessary and secure safety improvement in track field.

  • This paper presents a new method for first and second order eigen-sensitivity analysis of system matrix in augmented form. Eigen-sensitivity analysis provides invaluable informations in power system planning and operation. However, conventional eigen-sensitivity analysis methods, which need all the eigenvalues and eigenvectors, can not be applicable to large scale power systems due to large computer memory and computing time required. In the proposed method, all sensitivity computations for a mode are carried out using the augmented system matrix and its own eigenvalue and right & left eigenvectors. In other words sensitivity analysis for a mode does not need informations on the other eigenvalues and eigenvectors and sparsity technique can be fully utilized. Thus compuations can be done very efficiently with moderate computer memory and computing time even for large power systems. The proposed algorithm is tested for one machine infinite bus system.

  • All types of dynamic excitation, periodical, pulse or transient in vertical, horizontal or all three directions can be effectively reduced by vibration isolation systems. Typical elements for vibration isolation control are spring units consisting of a group of helical compression springs. In all cases of shock, transient or random excitation energy absorbing dampers have to be added to the spring units in order to reduce system response in the frequency range near the natural frequency of the isolation system. The same isolation system of spring units and viscos-dampers has been used since 1979 for passive protection of buildings and structures has been proved to by very advantageous for vibration and structure borne noise control. Not only because of high vertical flexibility of the spring units, compared for example with typical rubber or neoprene mounts out also because of the horizontal of flexibility, which can be adapted by modifying the spring dimensions to nearly every requirement. It is just normal to use the same basic elements for passive isolation as for active isolation.

  • This is the report of a study carried out during the months of April to July in 1974, on the fisheries in regard to its labor management. At here the word of adjacent seas fisheries in Korea denotes the fisheries carried out by fishing boats for one or two boats trawling, purse seinning, shrimp trawling, and whale catching. For the objective of this above study the auther randomly selected 257 crew-members for the questionaires and direct interviews and, with this method, proceeded surveys and investigations on the following factors such as the organization and its functions, personel administration in regard to placement and merit system, regulations and rules of working, wages and salaries, welfare facilities or considerations, safety and sanitation, human relations within organization and cooperation, and thus covered the whole important factors with the modern management system. The results of the studies are; The factors above the standard level are only on those of organization and functions, merit system and placement and human relations and for the rest the judgement are to be laid as below the standard level. And particularly revealing the problems on the following factors; 1) Wages and salary particulary on the payment upon laid out, and the payment of wages in advance. 2) Welfare facilities such as of the insurance and crew members' welfare for the good use of leisure time. 3) Placement and merit system in regard to ite method of appointing or empioying 4) Regulations and rules of working in regard to the vacation or leave of absence. 5) Safety problem particularly on the matter of sanitation or hygene. 6) Coopertion on the matter of participation on the interested problems on both parties. The above points indicated are, methinks, all derived out of the out dated method of management. Therefore, for the improvement of the labor management, first of all, nothing is more urgent than to adopt the modern labor management method as well as to encourage and enlighten the social responsibilities burdened on the enterprise.

  • In this paper, we introduce a system that detects all kinds of violations at a street intersection such as red light running, speed violation, stop line violation and lane violation by tracking individual vehicles. Two cameras are used for defecting violations. One is an analog camera for real-time tracking and the other is a digital camera for license plate reading. This system is connected to the traffic signal system controller and monitors the red, arrow, yellow and green phases of an approach. Two loops in the road are used to detect vehicle approach and speed. The system takes pictures of all vehicles passing a second loop and tracks the vehicles until they go out a street intersection...

The institution of exercise target was made through two times qualitative analysis and the result of studying for the effect of the field adaptation was produced before offering feedback. Moreover, two time analysis added after offering feedback. All analysis was based on 2-D visual analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Maximal barbell moving speed in starting phase was decreased after offering feedback. This result implies advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 2. From starting posture to 앉아받기, forward and backward moving distance of hip joint was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 3. In terms of pull phase, forward and backward moving distance of hip and shoulder joint was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 4. In terms of pull phase, the difference of horizontal value of coordinates was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 5. In terms of pull phase, the motion range of hip joint was decreased after offering feedback in three of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them were not variable or narrow decreasing. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 6. From apex point of barbell to 앉아받기, the difference of barbell height was decreased after offering feedback in three of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them weren't variable or narrow increasing. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 7. In terms of last-pull phase, the angular velocity of knee joint was increased after offering feedback in four of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them, only one subject, decreased. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 8. In terms of last-pull, the conversional tendency of maximal extension to flextion came out all but simultaneously without offering feedback in four of five subjects. This is well-performed technique. Only one subject, however, could not use power effectively because the fact that his maximal extension came out in serial, from ankle to knee and waist means dispersion of power. In addition to, after offering feedback, only one subject made increasing the maximal extension of knee in last-pull and this result represents advancement of skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them could not make meaningful development after offering feedback. 9. It might be assumed that searching for technical merits and demerits of each weight lifting player through qualitative motion analysis system could improve player's skill.

  • This paper reviews issues and methodological status of system dynamics and suggest some research agenda for its development in Korea. After reviewing some characteristics of system dynamics approach, including dynamic feedback perspective and endogenous point of view, the paper pointed out methodological characteristics of system dynamics. It seems to be the most notable characteristics of System Dynamics that it use both quantitative and qualitative approach in explaining and modelling reality. Besides, System Dynamicists rely more heavily on refutationism than instrumentalism and this allows System Dynamicists follow more strict way of scientific inquiry. For the development of System Dynamics in Korean academic circle, developing training program and curriculum, networking scattered System Dynamicist all over the country, would be the most important task.

  • As all delays resulting from the signaling network directly affect the response time of network management activity, all control informations have to be transported most efficiently. It is very important to know the performance of the signaling system not only because of smooth network operation but also because of efficient engineering of signaling networks. In this paper, we analyzed mean queueing delay of signaling link for ISUP signaling messages in common channel signaling system by using M[X]/G/1 and M[X]/D/1 batch arrival queueing system. This is because we modeled arrival process of the signaling messages as batch arrival process considering that many kinds of signaling messages are generated at short intervals when a call requests a connection. Analysis was carried out considering different call processing scenario based on ITU-T specification. We also described the numerical results from the different types of queueing models.
