Prediction of the running posture is important to evaluate the resistance by the numerical calculation for a high speed vessel. Especially for a planing craft having a large variation of running attitude it becomes more essential, but it can not be obtained easily because the running posture and the hydrodynamic forces including the resistance are interacted with each other. So iterative calculation to obtain the dynamic forces according to the changes in attitude is necessary, in this study, considering the calculated hydrodynamic force at the assumed draft as the additional buoyancy the corrected draft is calculated through satisfying the equilibrium between the buoyancy and the hull weight. To verify the derived method three kinds of hull forms were used with the results of model tests, R/V ATHENA and 150 tons class guide vessel for middle-speed semi-planing crafts, 28 feet fast boat for a high-speed planing boat. For all cases with several iterations the converged value of draft can be obtained, lastly the resistance and flow around hull were simulated by using VOF method.

The first four generations of computers are all based on a single basic design: the Von Neuman Processor, which is sequential and does one operation at a time. Efforts to develop concurrent or parallel computers have been carried on for many years. Data flow approach is significant in these efforts to make high speed parallel machines and expected a great deal of parallelism. In this paper we propose a preliminary data Flow Machine Model operating asynchronously on the base of Node Labelling. We introduce a concept of Node Labeling for this purpose which is relevant to the Data dependency and Parallelism. And we explain how the Node Tokens are fired in the proposed system.
A novel conductivity technique was developed to detect penetration depth of the vessel fluid into the feedpipe. For a given reactor geometry, critical agitator speeds were experimentally determined at the onset of feedpipe backmixing using Rushton 6 bladed disk turbine (6BD) and high efficiency axial flow type 3 bladed (HE-3) impellers. The ratio of the feedpipe velocity to the critical agitator speed ($v_f/v_t$) was constant for either laminar or turbulent feedpipe flow regimes. Compared to the results of fast competitive reaction, feedpipe backmixing had to penetrate at least one feedpipe diameter into the feedpipe to significantly influence the yield of the side product. However, higher $v_f/v_t$ than that for L/d = 0 (position at the feedpipe end) of the conductivity technique is recommended to completely eliminate feedpipe backmixing in conservative design criteria. The conductivity technique was successful in all feedpipe flow conditions of laminar, transitional and turbulent flow regimes.
In this paper, we propose a framework to study how to route packets efficiently in multipath communication networks. Two traffic congestion control techniques, namely, flow assignment and packet scheduling, have been investigated. The flow assignment mechanism defines an optimal splitting of data traffic on multiple disjoint paths. The resequencing delay and the usage of the resequencing buffer can be reduced significantly by properly scheduling the sending order of all packets, say, according to their expected arrival times at the destination. To illustrate our model, and without loss of generality, Gaussian distributed end-to-end path delays are used. Our analytical results show that the techniques are very effective in reducing the average end-to-end path delay, the average packet resequencing delay, and the average resequencing buffer occupancy for various path configurations. These promising results can form a basis for designing future adaptive multipath protocols.
Unified power flow controller (UPFC) is the most reliable device in the FACTS concept. It has the ability to adjust all three control parameters effective in power flow and voltage stability. In this paper, a linearized model of a power system installed with a UPFC has been presented. UPFC has four control loops that by adding an extra signal to one of them, increases dynamic stability and load angle oscillations are damped. In this paper, after open loop eigenvalue (electro mechanical mode) calculations, state-space equations have been used to design damping controller and it has been considered to influence active and reactive power flow durations as the input of damping controller, in addition to the common speed duration of synchronous generators as input damper signal. To increase stability, further Lead-Lag and LQR controllers, a novel on-line adaptive controller has been used analytically to identify power system parameters. Closed-loop calculations of the electro mechanical mode verify the improvement of system pole placement after controller designing. Suitable operation of adaptive controller to decrease rotor speed oscillations against input mechanical torque disturbances is confirmed by the simulation results.
In this study, the freight vehicles were modelled and the flow analysis on the existence or non-existence of a cargo container and the wind deflector were carried out. Based on the driving speed of 100 km/hr, at all models A, B and C, the highest flow rate was shown between 58 m/s and 59 m/s at the top of the model shape. All models A, B and C showed the highest pressure of air resistance between 652Pa and 671Pa at the front of the model geometry. The maximum pressure of model A is considered to be the smallest, with the least flow resistance to speed compared to models B and C. Therefore, it can be seen that model A has an advantageous condition for air resistance in terms of fuel costs. Unlike model B which causes the rapid flow resistance at the cargo compartment, model C can be found to flow a little more smoothly on the streamlined wind deflector. So, the flow air at a streamlined shape is considered to be more advantageous in terms of air resistance than at angular shape. By applying the research analysis result on the air flow in driving according to a cargo container and the wind deflector, it is seen that this study is adequate at the practical efficient design and aesthetic convergence.

The flow upstream of a centrifugal pump impeller has been investigated by both experimental test and numerical simulation. For experimental study, the flow field at four sections in the pump suction is measured by using PIV method. For calculation, the three dimensional turbulent flow for the full flow passage of the pump is simulated based on RANS equations combined with RNG k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. From those results, it is noted that at both design lo ad and quarter load condition, the pre-swirl flow whose direction is the same as the impeller rotation exists at all four sections in suction pipe of the pump, and at each section, the pre-swirl velocity becomes obviously larger at higher rotational speed. It is also indicated that at quarter load condition, the low pressure region at suction surface of the vane is large because of the unfavorable flow upstream of the pump impeller.

The horn and movable parts around the gap of the conventional semi-spade rudder are visualized by high speed CCD camera with the frame rate of 4000 fps (frame per second) to study the unsteady cavity pattern on the rudder surface and gap. In addition, the pressure measurements are conducted on the rudder surface and inside the gap to find out the characteristics of the flow behavior. The rudder without propeller wake is tested at the range of $1.0{\leq}{\sigma}_v\;1.6$ and at the rudder deflection angle of $-8{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}10^{\circ}$. The time resolved cavity images are captured and show strong cavitation around the rudder gap in all deflection angles. As the deflection angle gets larger, the flow separated from the horn surface increases the strength of cavitation. The accelerated flow along the horn decreases its pressure and the separated flow from the horn increases the pressure abruptly. The pressure distribution inside the gap reveals the flow moving from the pressure to suction side. In the negative deflection angle, the turning area on the movable part initiates the flow separation and cavitation on it.

The Korean Tilting Train eXpress (TTX) development program is in progress for the purpose of running speed or passenger's comfort improvement at the curved track. However, the speed up and light weight of train make poor the dynamic safety of the TTX in strong cross wind. In this paper, 3-dimensional numerical analysis on the flow field around the TTX under strong cross wind is performed for each operating condition, such as the train speed, cross wind speed, tilting/nontilting condition, and so on. Due to the strong cross wind, the pressure distribution around the train becomes asymmetric, especially at the leading car. Asymmetrical pressure distribution causes the side force and strong unstability. The side force on the train is proportional to the train speed and cross wind speed. Based on the numerical results, the overturning coefficients are predicted for investigation of the train stability, and all of them are less than the critical value, 0.9. The results in this study would be a good data for providing importance to judgement of cross wind safety of TTX.

An aerodynamic design for centrifugal compressor which was applied to medium speed diesel engine has done. First of all, exact compressor specifications must be defined by accurate engine system matching. This matching program has been developed. Using the mean1ine prediction method, geometric design and performance curve for compressor was done and verified by comparing three dimensional viscous CFD results. The deviation at the design point was about 2.3%. Combustor has been designed and manufactured for the performance test of medium speed diesel engine turbocharger. Fuel nozzle of combustor was designed and performed by PIV and PDPA test equipment. Through these results, spray characteristics were studied and flow coefficient equation was deduced.
