  • This paper describes the design and implementation of fall-down detection algorithm based on image processing. The fall-down detection algorithm separates objects by using background subtraction and binarization after grayscale conversion of the input image acquired by the camera, and recognizes the human body by using labeling operation. The recognized human body can be monitored on the display image, and an alarm is generated when fall-down is detected. By using computer simulation, the proposed algorithm has shown a detection rate of 90%. We verify the feasibility of the proposed system by verifying the function by using the prototype test implemented on the DSP image processing board.

  • The literal meaning of loitering is "to lingering aimlessly or as if aimless in or about a place". And most criminals show this kind of act before they actually commit crime. Therefore, detecting this kind of loitering can effectively prevent a variety of crime. In this paper, we propose a loitering-detection algorithm using the Raspberry Pi. Proposed algorithm uses an adaptive difference image to detect moving objects and morphology opening operation to enhance the accuracy of detection. The loitering- behavior is being detected by using the center of gravity of the object to see the changes of angle; and pixel movement distance to determine the height of the object. When the loitering-behavior is detected, it outputs the alarm to tell the users by using the Raspberry Pi.

  • When a fault relating to the urgent alarm occurs, we must prevent control rods from dropping and make one of two grippers in Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) grip the drive rod laking a control rod assembly. If a gripper with any problem is ordered to grip the drive rod, the gripper which cannot latch the rod stably will fail to take the rod. On the purpose of escaping this bad case, we order two grippers to hold the drive rod and enhance the reliability of holding control rods. This action is called the double hold. In the middle of the movement of the drive rod, the latching of the drive rod can cause friction between a gripper and the drive rod. This state may give damage to both the gripper and the drive rod. In this paper, we have devised the method which can have two grippers hold the drive rod more stably, without damaging the equipment.

  • This paper is for response feature of fire detectors not only to analysis response feature of fire detector, but also to observe flame spread of inside-building and fire enlargement by using the row house which is supposed to be broken up. Many kinds of popular detectors such as heat type detector(differential type, fixed temperature type, Analogue type)and smoke type(light scattered type, Analogue type, single alarm type) were installed in the house in order to check for the change of temperature by installing of thermocouples. As a result, smoke detectors are better than heat detectors when it comes to making effective fire-detect system in the row house.

  • In this paper, we compare the timing synchronization performance of the adaptive filter to that of the correlator in direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) systems. The test variables used in the code synchronization are statistically analyzed for both schemes, and then the obtained results are used in calculating the detection and false alarm probabilities. Based on the derived probabilities, the synchronization performance is compared and the simulation is followed. Analysis and simulation results show that the correlator outperforms the adaptive filter under most synchronization environments.

  • This study presents the design of autonomous smart sensor nodes for damage monitoring of tendons and girders in prestressed concrete (PSC) bridges. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. Firstly, acceleration-based and impedance-based smart sensor nodes are designed for global and local structural health monitoring (SHM). Secondly, global and local SHM methods which are suitable for damage monitoring of tendons and girders in PSC bridges are selected to alarm damage occurrence, to locate damage and to estimate severity of damage. Thirdly, an autonomous SHM scheme is designed for PSC bridges by implementing the selected SHM methods. Operation logics of the SHM methods are programmed based on the concept of the decentralized sensor network. Finally, the performance of the proposed system is experimentally evaluated for a lab-scaled PSC girder model for which a set of damage scenarios are experimentally monitored by the developed smart sensor nodes.

  • A data-based model, such as an AAKR model is widely used for monitoring the drifts of sensors in nuclear power plants. However, since a training dataset and a test dataset for a data-based model cannot be constructed with the data from all the possible states, the model uncertainty cannot be good enough to represent the uncertainty of estimations. In fact, the errors of estimation grow much bigger if the incoming data come from inexperienced states. To overcome this limitation of the model uncertainty, a new measure of uncertainty for a data-based model is developed and the predicted uncertainty is introduced. The predicted uncertainty is defined in every estimation according to the incoming data. In this paper, the AAKR model is used as a data-based model. The predicted uncertainty is similar in magnitude to the model uncertainty when the estimation is made for the incoming data from the experienced states but it goes bigger otherwise. The characteristics of the predicted model uncertainty are studied and the usefulness is demonstrated with the pressure signals measured in the flow-loop system. It is expected that the predicted uncertainty can quite reduce the false alarm by using the variable threshold instead of the fixed threshold.

  • KeeLoq is a very light block cipher with a 32-bit block and a 64-bit key. It is suitable for the wireless applications, and thus multiple automotive OEMs as Chrysler, GM, Honda, Toyota have used remote keyless entry systems and alarm systems in order to protect the their cars. In this paper, we introduce various weak-key classes that include $2^1{\sim}2^{32}$ keys and exploit the slide attack to propose key-recovery attacks under these weak-key classes.
