마이크로캡슐화한 축전지용 수소저장합금 전극의 충·방전 특성 (Charge and Discharge Characteristics of Microencapsulated Hydrogen Storage Alloy Electrodes for Secondary Batteries)

  • An applicability microencapsulation, using electroless copper plating, of hydrogen storage alloy powder as an anode material for nickel-hydrogen secondary batteries was investigated. Alloys employed were $LaNi_{4.7}Al_{0.3}$ and $MmNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$(Mm=mischmetal) which have an appropriate equilibrium pressure and capacity. The microencapsulation of the alloy powder was found to accelerate initial activation of electrodes and to increase capacity which is about 285mAh/g for $LaNi_{4.7}Al_{0.3}$. In addition, other charge and discharge characteristics, such as polarization and flatness of charge and discharge potential, were improved due to the role of copper layer as a microcurrent collector and an oxidation barrier of the alloy powder. $MmNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$ alloy showed lower capacity than $LaNi_{4.7}Al_{0.3}$ because of higher equilibrium pressure. Cyclic characteristics of both alloys were somewhat poor because of mainly shedding and partial oxidation of alloy powder during the cycling. However, it was considered that the microencapsulation method is effective to improve the performances of the hydrogen storage alloy electrodes.

Digital Chest Tomosynthesis에서 부가필터에 따른 화질 및 유효선량 (Comparison of Image Quality and Effective Dose by Additional Filtration on Digital Chest Tomosynthesis)

  • 디지털 흉부단층합성법 검사에서 부가필터 사용에 따른 환자의 선량과 화질의 특성을 비교해보고자 하였다. 부가필터의 종류는 구리, 알루미늄, 니켈을 사용하였으며, 이 때 각 각의 부가필터에 따른 유효선량, 면적선량을 측정해 보았고, 화질의 물리적 평가방법으로 signal to noise ratio (SNR)과 contrast to noise ratio (CNR)을, 시각적 평가방법으로 contrast detail (CD) phantom을 이용한 CD 곡선을 비교하였다. 그 결과 부가필터별 조사선량이 비슷한 두께는 0.3 mmCu, 3 mmAl, 0.3 mmNi 였으며 부가필터를 사용하지 않았을 때 보다 조사선량 값이 평균 33.1% 감소하였다. 각 필터 별 dose area product (DAP) 선량값을 측정한 결과 Ni를 사용하였을 때 선량이 72.9% 감소하여 가장 낮았으며, 필터별 DAP 값은 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.01). 유효선량은 Ni를 사용하였을 때 가장 낮은 선량 값을 보였고, 필터를 사용하지 않았을 때 0.102 mSv에 비해 48.0% 감소하였다. CD phantom에 의한 시각적 화질평가에서는 각 필터별로 비슷한 양상을 나타냈으며, 3가지 부가필터를 사용 하였을 때 S NR과 CNR은 평균 19.07, 1 8.17% 감소함을 보였다. 결론적으로 디지털 흉부 단층합성법 검사에서 부가필터로 Ni을 사용할 경우 유효선량 및 DAP 선량 감소, 화질에서 가장 적절함을 알 수 있었다.

니켈분말 첨가에 따른 MmNi5계 수소저장합금의 열역학 및 전기화학적 특성 (A Study on the Thermodynamic and Electrochemical Properties of MmNi5 System Hydrogen Absorbing Alloys Mixed with Nickel Powder)

  • Effect of nickel powder to added to the hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode of $MmNi_{4.5}-xCoxMn_{0.3}Al_{0.2}$ system alloy was investigated. The addition of nickel powder was effective for the improvement of discharging characteristic. It was found that the discharge capacity was 310mAhig when the alloy negative electrode was mixed $MmNi_{3.75}CO_{0.75}Mn_{0.3}Al_{0.2}$ and nickel powder with a mix of one to three. Still another, we have investigated thermodynamic stability of hydrogen in the alloy negative electrode. As a result, enthalpy of hydrogen and hydrogen equilibrium pressure in the alloy negative electrode were a suitable value to easy hydrogen absorption-desorption.

  • Recently there were many studies on the development of cast iron for increasing strength, thermal resistance and mechanical properties, etc. The effects on mechanical properties and variation of solidification structure of hypo-eutectic cast iron was investigated when Ni(Al) was added with a fixed quantity of Al(Ni) content. The conclusions are as follows. 1) Tensile strength was the maximum(over 41 kg/ $mm^2$) when Al is added about 0.72%. 2) Torsional strength and angle were increased with increasing Al content and represents maximum value, when Al and Ni content are 1.5 and 2.0%. 3) With increasing Ni content, tensile strength decreased because of the effect of graphite coarsening. But torsional strengths were increased with the appropriate addition of (Ni%+Al%) content because of the effect of strengthened matrix.

  • Continuous casting of the Al-Cu-Ni ternary eutectic alloys was carried out by the upward continuous casting process. The morphology of the ternary eutectic growth and the stability of solid-liquid interface were investigated under various growth conditions. It was possible to get the planar solid-liquid interface at the condition of $G_L/R=3.59{\times}10^3^{\circ}C\;sec/mm^2$ in Al-Cu-Ni ternary eutectic alloys. In Al-rich, Ni-rich and Cu-rich hypereutectics of Al-Cu-Ni ternary alloys, primary ${\alpha},\;{\tau}\;and\;{\theta}$ dendrites have grown as the leading phase ahead of the ternary eutectic composites.

  • Continuous casting of the $Al-Al_3Ni$: eutectic composite was carried out by the upward continuous casting process. The morphology of the eutectic growth and the stability of solid-liquid interface were investigated under various growth conditions in an upward continuous casting. The effect of growth conditions on the mechanical properties of the $Al-Al_3$ Ni eutectic composit was also investigated, and the results were compared with those by the Bridgman method. As for the results, it was possible to get the planar solid-liquid interface at the condition of $G_L/R$$1.04{\times}10^3^{\circ}Csec/mm^2$. And the inter-rod spacing of $Al-Al_3Ni$ eutectic composite was decreased with the increase of pulling speed. The reduction of inter-rod spacing & value of $G_L/R$ caused the increase of ultimate tensile strength in $Al-Al_3Ni$: eutectic composite. The ultimate tensile strengths of $Al-Al_3Ni$ by the upward continuous casting were higher then those by the Bridgman method.

일방향응고시킨 Al-Fe-Ni 합금의 조직과 기계적 성질 (The structures and mechanical properties of unidirectionally solidified Al-Fe-Ni alloy)

  • The examination for the changes of structures and mechanical properties in directionally solidified Al-Fe-Ni alloys containing the small amount of Fe and Ni was carried out by the varying the composition and solidification rate R of alloy, provided that the temperature gradient was 80 .deg.C/cm. The result were obtained as follows. A) In proportion to the increase of the solidification rate (R), the crystallized phase of this alloy was changed from the Ribbon-type structure to the Rod-type structure. B) The strength was rapidly increased in the changing process of composite shape from the Ribbon-type to the Rod-type with the solidification rate (R) increasing. C) The fiber stress (${\sigma}^f$) and Young's modulus ($E_f$) calculated for the Rod-type structure were 220 kg/$mm^2$ and 11, 800 kg/$mm^2$ respectively, which were in good accord with the rule of Mixtures.

  • Electrochemical and thermodynamic properties of $MmNi_5$ and the related alloys for nickel-metal hydride battery(Ni-MH) were studied in terms of the equilibrium hydrogen pressure. $MmNi_5$ alloy with high equilibrium hydrogen pressure(10~20atm at room temperature), which is usually difficult to charge, was substituted for Al in part. Partial substitution of Al made not only the equilibrium pressure to be reduced remarkably, but also the enthalpy change depending on the formation of metal hydride to be agreed to the value in gas phase reaction and electrochemical reaction. Besides the composition of Al which can be given the maximum discharge capacity was turned out to be between the 0.5~1.0 atoms of Al.

연료전지의 수소저장용 합금에 대한 수소확산반응의 속도론적 해석 (Kinetic Parameter Analysis of Hydrogen Diffusion Reaction for Hydrogen Storage Alloy of Fuel Cell System)

  • 본 논문은 마이크로 전극 시스템에 의하여 연료전지 및 Ni-MH 전지로의 응용을 가정한 $AB_5$계 수소저장합금인 $MmNi_{3.55}Co_{0.75}Mn_{0.4}Al_{0.3}$의 단일 입자에 대하여 전기화학적인 평가를 수행하였다. 즉 Carbon fiber 마이크로 전극을 합금 입자 한개 위에 전기적인 접촉을 이루도록 조정하고, 합금 입자 내에서 수소원자의 겉보기 화학적 확산계수를 계산하기 위하여 Potential-Step 실험을 실시하였다. 여기에서 사용되는 합금입자는 치밀하고 전도성이 있는 구형이므로 데이터 해석을 위해 구형확산 모델을 적용하였다. 실험결과로서 겉보기 확산계수($D_{app}$)는 수소 흡장 및 방출되는 전 과정에서 $10^{-9}$$10^{-10}[cm^2/s]$ 수준인 것으로 확인되었다. 마이크로 전극 측정 시스템에 의한 단일 입자의 전기화학적 평가는 기존의 Composite Film 전극에 비해 수소저장합금에 대해 보다 상세하고 정확한 정보를 쉽게 얻을 수 있었다.

AB5계 합금에 있어서 수소 흡수-방출 cycling에 따른 수소 저장 특성 변화 (Changes of Hydrogen Storage Properties upon Hydrogen Absorption-Desorption Cycling in AB5-type Alloys)

  • T hydrogen absorption-desorption behavior induced by thermal or hydrogen pressure cycling in a closed system was observed in hydrogen storage alloys, $(La-R-Mm)Ni_{4.5}Fe_{0.5}$, $MmNi_4Fe_{0.85}Cu_{0.15}$ and $(Ce-F-Mm)Ni_{4.7}Al_{0.2}Fe_{0.1}$. Thereby (La-R-Mm), Mm and (Ce-F-Mm) refer to La-rich mischmetal, mischmetal and Ce-free mischmetal respectively. As the results, it is found that the alloy stabilities during thermal cycling varies with alloy composition change. The highest stability occurs in $MmNi_4Fe_{0.85}Cu_{0.15}$ and the lowest stability in $(La-R-Mm)Ni_{4.5}Fe_{0.5}$. Comparing hydrogen pressure cycling with thermal cycling, pressure cycling causes severer degradation of the alloy $(Ce-F-Mm)Ni_{4.7}Al_{0.2}Fe_{0.1}$ than thermal cycling. When the 1500 times-cycled alloy is annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs under 1 atm of hydrogen pressure the hydrogen storage capacity is recovered only partially but not completely to the initial capacity. The amount of capacity loss after annealing is larger in the hydrogen pressure cycled samples than in the thermal cycled, suggesting an incoming of impure gas during hydrogen pressure cycling.
