Microwave Dielectric Properties of 0.95Ca0.85Nd0.1TiO3−0.05LnAlO3 (Ln=Sm, Dy, Er) Ceramics

  • Microwave dielectric properties of $0.95 Ca_{0.85}Nd_{0.1}TiO_3-0.05LnAlO_3$ (Ln=Sm, DH, Er) were investigated as a function of sintering temperature and lanthanide ion type. A single perovskite phase with an orthorhombic structure was obtained throughout the entire range of composition. The dielectric constant (K) was dependent upon the dielectric polarizabilities and the B-site bond valence in the $ABO_3$ perovskite structure. The quality factor (Qf) of the specimens with $ErAlO_3$ was smaller than those with $SmAlO_3\;and/or\;DyAlO_3$ due to the smaller grain size. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) could be controlled from $107.28ppm/^{\circ}C$ at Ln=Sm to $87.23ppm/^{\circ}C$ at Ln=Er due to the changes of B-site bond valence in the $ABO_3$ perovskite structure.

아연-0.2%알루미늄합금 용융도금액 중에서 용사층의 내구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Durability of Sprayed Coating Layer in the Molten Zn-0.2% Al Alloy Bath)

  • Sink roll has been used in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy bath of continuous galvanizing line in sinking and stabilizing process of the steel strip in molten metal bath. In this process, although the scraper scraps off the sink roll surface, the dross compounds is builded up on the sink roll surface and the life time of the sink roll is shorten by the dross compounds. The present study was investigated the application of the spray coating layer on sink roll body for improving durability In molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy. Through the durability tests in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy with various ceramic and cermet coating layer, the optimum bond and top coating material was obtained. As the results, the system of STS430F base metal, WC-l7Co bond and $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ top coating was clarified to be the best quality of durability in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy.

  • Behavior of stoichiometric and near-stoichiometric NiAl at plasma spray deposition, without and with a bond coat, for coating layers realization on a low alloyed steel substrate, has been investigated. In all variants, NiAl particle melting and subsequent welding at the impact with substrate were observed, forming a relatively compact and adherent coating layer with the NiAl stability maintaining - all assuring the coating layer oxidation and corrosion resistance. Good results from these points of view, also validated through corrosion tests, were obtained for 45:55 Ni:Al composition without a bond coat but adopting an Ar protective surrounding of plasma jet.

Theoretical Study of the Cobalt Substituting Site in the Framework of $AlPO_{4}-5$ Molecular Sieves

  • In order to determine the cobalt substituting site in $AlPO_4-5$ framework, ASED-MO theory has been used. The substitution of cobalt for aluminum is energetically more favorable than that for phasphorous. The stabilized energy of the former is 51 eV lower than that of the latter. The calculated net charge was +1.27 for Al, +0.85 for P, and +1.56 for Co, respectively. The valence electron population (VEP), reduced overlap population (ROP) and net charge for the charged cluster models were compared for $AlPO_4-5$ and $CoAlPO_4-5$ systems. Then, twe find that the covalency of P-O bond was greater than that of Al-O bond.

  • Electronic structures and properties of the organometallic precursors [Me2AlNHR]2 (R =Me, iPr, and tBu) have been calculated by the semiempirical (ASED-MO, MNDO, AM1 and PM3) methods. Optimized structures obtained from the MNDO, AM1, and PM3 calculations indicate that the N-C bond lengths are considerably affected by the change of the R groups bonded to nitrogen, but the bond lengths of the Al-N and Al-C bonds are little affected. This result is useful in explaining the experimental results for the elimination of the R groups bonded to nitrogen, and could serve as a guide in designing an optimum precursor for the AlN thin film formation.

샌드블라스팅과 프라이머가 지르코니아와 레진시멘트의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향 (Influence of sandblasting and primer on shear bond strength of resin cement to zirconia)

  • 연구 목적: 최근 지르코니아가 전부도재관의 코어로 많이 사용되고 있다. 지르코니아와 레진 시멘트의 결합 강도를 높이기 위한 기계적, 화학적인 표면 처리 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 이 연구에서 여러 표면 처리 방법에 따른 지르코니아와 레진 시멘트의 전단결합강도를 알아보고자 한다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 80개의 지르코니아 (Lava, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA) 시편과 80개의 지르코니아/알루미나 복합체 (Zirace, Acucera Co Inc, Korea) 시편을 디스크형태로 제작하여 에폭시레진에 매립하였다. 이들을 각각 4개의 군으로 나누어 $50\;{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ sandblasting, $110\;{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ sandblasting, $50\;{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ sandblasting과 프라이머 (Z-PRIME Plus, Bisco Inc, Schaumburg, IL, USA) 사용, $110\;{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ sandblasting과 프라이머 (Z-PRIME Plus) 사용 군으로 나누었다. 표면 처리한 지르코니아 표면에 2가지 레진 시멘 (Calibra, Panavia F)으로 접착하였다. 그 후 증류수 ($37^{\circ}C$)에 24시간 보관 후 전단 결합 강도 실험을 시행하였고, SEM을 사용하여 표면 처리한 표면과 전단강도 실험 후 파절양상을 관찰하였다. 결과: ANOVA분석에 따르면, 두 가지 종류의 시편 모두에서, 프라이머 (Z-PRIME Plus)를 사용하여 표면 처리한 군들이 전단 결합 강도가 높았다 (P < .05). 결론: 기계적 결합 강도와 함께 새로운 프라이머를 사용하는 것이 지르코니아와 레진 시멘트의 접착 강도를 증가시킨다.

Investigation of bonding properties of Al/Cu bimetallic laminates fabricated by the asymmetric roll bonding techniques

  • In this study, 2-mm Al/Cu bimetallic laminates were produced using asymmetric roll bonding (RB) process. The asymmetric RB process was carried out with thickness reduction ratios of 10%, 20% and 30% and mismatch rolling speeds 1:1, 1:1.1 and 1:1.2, separately. For various experimental conditions, finite element simulation was used to model the deformation of bimetallic Al/Cu laminates. Specific attention was focused on the bonding strength and bonding quality of the interface between Al and Cu layers in the simulation and experiment. The optimization of mismatch rolling speed ratios was obtained for the improvement of the bond strength of bimetallic laminates during the asymmetric RB process. During the finite element simulation, the plastic strain of samples was found to reach the maximum value with a high quality bond for the samples produced with mismatch rolling speed 1:1.2. Moreover, the peeling surfaces of samples around the interface of laminates after the peeling test were studied to investigate the bonding quality by scanning electron microscopy.

용융 55%Al-Zn 중에서 세라믹 용사 피막의 침식 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Erosion Behavior of the Ceramic Sprayed Coating Layer in the Molten 55% Al-Zn)

In the process, the sink roll body inevitably build up dross compounds and pitting on the sink roll surface during 55%Al-Zn alloy coated strip production, and the life time of the sink roll is shorten by build up dross compounds and pitting. The present study examined the application of thermally sprayed ceramic coatings method on sink roll body for improving erosion resistance at molten 55% Al-Zn pool. In this experiment, the stainless steels such as STS 316L and STS 430F were used as the substrate materials. The CoNiCr and WE-Co powder were selected as bond coating materials. Moreover $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2-SiO_2 and ZrO_2-SiO_2$ powders selected as the top coating materials. Appearances of the specimens before and after dipping to molten 55%Al-Zn pool were compared and analyzed. As a result of this study, STS430F of substrate, WC-Co of bond spray coatings, $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ power of top spray coatings is the best quality in erosion resistance test at molten 55%Al-Zn pool

Interdiffusion Studies of βNiAl Bond Coats: Understanding the Zr, Pt, and Al Migration Trends and Their Beneficial Effects

  • The oxidation resistance of the diffusion aluminide bond coat (BC) is compromised largely by interdiffusion (ID) effects on coated turbine blades of aeroengines. The present study is designed to understand the influence of ID on βNiAl coatings or BC. In this regard, nickel substrate and CMSX-4 superalloy are deposited. In total, four sets of BCs are developed, i.e. pure βNiAl (on Ni substrate), simple βNiAl (on CMSX-4 substrate), Zr-βNiAl (on CMSX-4 substrate) and Pt-βNiAl (on CMSX-4 substrate). The main aim of this study is to understand the interdiffusion of Al, Zr and Pt during preparation and oxidation. In addition, the beneficial effects of both Zr and platinum are assessed. Pure βNiAl and simple βNiAl show Ni-out-diffusion, whereas for platinum inward diffusion to the substrate is noticed under vacuum treatment. Interestingly, Zr-βNiAl shows the least ID in all BCs and exhibit stability under both vacuum and oxidation treatments. However, its spallation resistance is slightly lower than that of Pt-βNiAl BC. All BCs show similar oxide growth trends, except for Zr-βNiAl, which exhibits two-stage oxidations, i.e. transient and steady-state. Moreover, it is suggested that the localized spallation in all BCs is caused by βNiAl - γ'-Ni3Al transformation.

Sol-Gel법으로 제조한 $B_2O_3$-$SiO_2$$Al_2O_3$-$SiO_2$ 박막의 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Properties of $B_2O_3$-$SiO_2$and $Al_2O_3$-$SiO_2$Coating Films by the Sol-Gel Method)

  • Glass films in the binary system B2O3-SiO2 and Al2O3-SiO2 were prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glass by the dip-coating technique from TEOS and boric acid or aluminum nitrate. Thickness of the films varying with viscosity and withdrawal speed were measured and effect of composition and firing temperature on the properties such as transmittance and refractive index were investigated. nM2O3.(100-n)SiO2(M=B or Al) films containing up to 20mol% B2O3 and 40mol% Al2O3 were transparent. Maximum transmittance at visible range were obtained for the sample containing 15mol% Ba2O3 and 32.5mol% Al2O3 and heat-treated at 50$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Refractive index of the film containing 15mol% B2O3 was mininum in the B2O3-SiO2 binary system and minimal refractive index was appeared at the film containing 32.5mol% Al2O3. In IP spectra, addition of B2O3 were increased absorption peak intensity of B-O and Si-O-B bond and addition of Al2O3 were decreased absorption peak intensity of Si-O bond, respectively.
