  • AeroMACS spectrum is a national resource internationally allocated by ITU at WRC-07. AeroMACS is an airport broadband mobile communication infrastructure based on WiMAX-based IEEE 802.16e that enables real-time video, graphics, voice, and high-speed data transmission. With the approval of ICAO's development technology standards in 2008, 50 airports in 11 countries have already completed the testing of D-TAXI or A-SMGCS technology using the AeroMACS infrastructure in 2019, starting in the United States in 2009. With many advantages in safety and convenience in terrestrial telecommunications operations, the system is becoming an area of performance improvement for airport operations in accordance with ICAO's ASBU plan. This paper examines the current status of domestic development of AeroMACS and lists service areas applicable to airlines and operators. It also seeks to promote safe and efficient next-generation airport mobile communication system services by presenting feasible partners management in the mobile area and use of aircraft communication systems for active technology development.

  • Ground based augmentation system (GBAS) is a next generation radio navigation aids to support precision approach of aircraft. Recently, airports installing GBAS and providing GBAS service are increasing all over the world. For the first time in Korea, SLS-4000 which is the GBAS ground equipment of Honeywell had been installed at Gimpo International Airport in 2013, and evaluated its functionality and performance of through the ground testing. This paper introduces a ground test and evaluation criteria on the CAT-I GBAS system, and describes testing methods for GBAS ground testing of Gimpo International Airport. In addition, detail testing methods and analysis results on major five of 12 ground test items are described.

  • This study has measured and evaluated the sound insulation of building elements of the hotel near airport. That measurement was made in both the actual site and laboratory. The differences of sound insulation performance in between granite and double glass were measured. Moreover, the difference of sound insulation was analyzed. For the measurement, this study has tried several methodologies, and analyzed the differences respectively. The results from this analysis were applied to produce a design guides for sound insulation to prevent external noise and to make more silent indoor space which satisfied the standard rate of noise.

  • The program name TOLAPS is an acronym for Take-Off LAnding Profile Simulation. Some of the interesting features of this program is the ability to detect flight performance effects of airport altitude, ambient temperature, air pressure and wind. TOLAPS can also handle effects of TOW and LW. The program user can also calculate profiles by user difined flaps and thrust settings deviating from recommended standard settings for each aircraft. Wind effects on straight out flying as well as turns can also be demonstrated. Output form TOLAPS are either screen graphics of profiles (altitude, speed or thrust versus flight distance) or flight track. Profiles can also be made in a tabular form, ready for use in most airport noise calculation programs. In this way, TOLAPS is a valuable tool to evaluate effects of noise abatement procedures.

  • According to the accident/incident reports of aircraft runway overruns and excursions, it generally shows runway friction reduction and aircraft braking capability deterioration are the basic causes due to adverse weather. Although surface of paved runway gets wet, it also should give good friction capability. If runway surface is worn due to long time usage and friction capability is reduced due to rubber accumulation or weather conditions(snow, rain, ice etc.), airport authorities should rapidly measure friction coefficient and give them to relevant persons through aeronautical information system and support safe takeoff and landing. Operation wise, these information of friction coefficient reduction should be lead to aircraft performance adjustments, but the data from manufacturer(performance manual) are airplane braking coefficient and the data from airport authorities are vehicle measured braking coefficient. But these two data are considered as the same meaning although the definite relationship between them is not clarified yet. So I am trying to search for the technical background of these two data and suggest reasonable method to use them efficiently.

  • This paper tries to find out antecedents and consequences of innovation ambidexterity among companies residing in the airport. To define antecedents, this paper regards such four variables as relationship orientation, market orientation, dynamic capabilities and level of resources. Such variables are assumed to have an effect on innovative ambidexterity and the innovative ambidexterity is also presumed to have an impact on company's marketing consequences. According to hypothesis test, the more a company has relationship orientation, market orientation, dynamic capabilities and level of resources, the more effective an innovation ambidexterity becomes and the bigger marketing performance could be expected. Therefore companies ought to maintain both exploration and utilization perspectives of innovation ambidexterity following the four variables above to expand new customer market and increase revenues.

  • While the idea of the existence of a set of key factors for success in planning, designing and construction of projects is not new, it remains one of the most important issues in the field of construction management. This is due to project success factors are inputs to project management practice which can lead directly or indirectly to project success. This study identifies the success factors which can be used for improving the highway projects performance in Egypt during the project pre-construction and construction phases. Through a detailed literature review 35 success factors are identified. Furthermore, the AHP is adopted to prioritize the studied factors through the application of questionnaire survey. The study establishes that implementing an effective quality control and assurance systems, allow sufficient time for feasibility studies, design, drawing and tender preparation, effective cost control system and frequency of project budget updates, preparing adequate designs and drawings and determining sufficient time to implement the desired scope of work are the most important success factors for enhancing the highway projects performance in Egypt.

  • Due to the increase in the data traffic for the aeronautical communications, LDACS has been proposed to support the data link in the continental domain. LDACS is defined in two standards of LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2, which are going to be selected through the intensive comparison. In this paper, we analyzed two types of standards and evaluated their performance for various channel models. Simulation results show that both LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2 have a good performance in the en-route channel model, while they have a poor performance in the airport channel model. In the comparison results for LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2, LDACS type-1 shows the better performance of 1dB than LDACS type-2 owing to the stronger channel coding technique.
