  • This experimental study presents the strength properties of mortar using the blast-furnace slag sand. The mix disign of this study is based on the each three classes of unit water; (250, 275, 300)kg/㎥ and four classes of W/C; (45, 50, 55, 60)% and substitution rate(0, 25, 50, 75, 100)%. It gives following result. As W/C ratio increase, the strength is decrease. In case of mortar using air-cooled blast-furnace slag sand, the 3-days and 7-days compression strength is increase as substitution rate is higher. But in case of the mortar using the quenched blast-furnace slag sand, the compression strength is decrease as substitution rate is higher.

  • Internal blast performance test on developed explosives was carried out. Internal blast means a blast wave in closed chambers like tunnels, bunkers, operation center and chamber of ships. We used Anpa tunnel for our test facility. We performed two series of tests to measure internal blast of developed explosives. Three different kinds of cast PBXs, DXD-09, DXD-10, DXD-18, and conventional explosive, Tritonal, were used in our test. The explosives were cast as a charge of 108mm diameter in a plastic tube of a 3mm thickness. The length of charges 4ere adjusted as a weight 3kg. A melt-cast explosive, tritonal, was used as a reference. Pentolite booster was used. The cylindrical boosters have a 95mm diameter and 47.5mm height. The results showed that there may be some differences between the performances in the air blast tests and those in the internal blast tests. The results showed that DXD-10, the best performance in air blast tests, showed the poorest performance in internal blast among the explosives tested. On the other hand, DXD-18 showed exactly the opposite trend. This is probably due to the highest contents of aluminum and inert binder in DXD-18. DXD-18 has $38\;wt\;\%$ of aluminum and $17\;wt\;\%$ of inert binders.

  • Due to the heterogeneity nature of the concrete, it is difficult to simulate the hyperdynamic behaviour and crack trajectory of concrete material when subjected to explosion loads. In this paper, a 3D nonlinear numerical study was conducted to simulate the hyperdynamic behaviour of concrete under various loading conditions using Riedel-Hiermaier-Thoma (RHT) model. Detailed calibration was conducted to identify the optimal parameters for the RHT model on the material level. For the component level, the calibrated RHT parameters were used to simulate the failure behaviour of plain concrete (PC) slab under free air blast load. The response was compared with an available experimental result. The results show the proposed numerical model can accurately simulate the crack trajectory and the failure mode of the PC slab under free air blast load.

  • The analysis methods of blast analysis models are classified into direct analysis and indirect analysis, and the latter is divided into semi-empirical and numerical analysis methods. In order to evaluate the applicability of the ELS blast analysis program, which is a program for analyzing the semi-empirical models, this study selected a simplified analytical model and examined the blast load characteristics of free-air burst explosion and surface burst explosion by using AT-Blast, RC-Blast, and Kinney and Graham's empirical equations, which are the semi-empirical analysis programs. As a result of analyzing the explosion pressure for the scaled distance and the incidence angle for the simplified analytical model, an appropriate analysis can be performed when the range of the scaled distance in the free-air burst explosion analysis was 0.3~0.461 and when the range of the scaled distance in the surface burst explosion analysis was 0.378~0.581. In terms of the incidence angle, the results analyzed within $45^{\circ}$ were considered to be appropriate.

  • The purpose of this study is to design an effective atmospheric environment system through the design of the dust collection in the air shot room being operated in a domestic shipyard. The ventilation system in the current air shot room mostly uses a dust collecting filter to filter internal particles and releases them in the atmosphere. A conventional design was made too much. In order to prevent an error and draw an optimal design, Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tried to be applied only to air shot room. In the advanced design technique, computer simulation was conducted to secure basic design data. In order to find the basic design of the ventilation system and the flow field in the air shot room at propeller mold workplace of a shipyard, the CFD was conducted. In the case of Model-1 as a conventional workplace, where air flows in the inlet due to the subatmospheric pressure generated by inhalation of an air blower and flows out to the outlet, a discharge flow rate was somewhat low, and there was the holdup zone in the room. In the case of Model-2 as an improved model, the ventilation system was improved in the Push-Pull type, and the holdup of the internal flow field was improved.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the properties of the roasted dandelion tea prepared after various pre-treatments such as pre-drying, steaming and air blast drying. The dandelion tea was prepared by roasting the pre-treated dandelion leaves and its total yield, pH, soluble solid content, turbidity, browning and sensory value were evaluated. Total yield and soluble solid content were the highest in case of air blast drying. Turbidity and browning degree were similar in all the teas regardless of their pre-treatment including pre-drying, steaming or air blast drying. The best palatability in the sensory evaluation was obtained at the steaming condition for 60 sec without pre-drying. Longer air blast drying time resulted in the increase in the a and b values. turbidity, browning degree, total yield and soluble solid content in the air blast dried tea.

  • This paper presents a computational study for the structural response of blast loaded metallic sandwich panels, with the emphasis placed on their failure behaviours. The fully-clamped panels are square, and the honeycomb core and skins are made of the same aluminium alloy. A material model considering strain and strain rate hardening effects is used and the blast load is idealised as either a uniform or localised pressure over a short duration. The deformation/failure procedure and modes of the sandwich panels are identified and analysed. In the uniform loading condition, the effect of core density and face-sheets thicknesses is analysed. Likewise, the influence of pulse shape on the failure modes is investigated by deriving a pressure-impulse (P-I) diagram. For localised loading, a comparative study is carried out to assess the blast resistant behaviours of three types of structures: sandwich panel with honeycomb core, two face-sheets with air core and monolithic plate, in terms of their permanent deflections and damage degrees. The finding of this research provides a valuable insight into the engineering design of sandwich constructions against air blast loads.

  • The cut is placed high up in the section, the 1st sloping holes below the cut, and divided all the holes located below the 1st sloping holes into a certain area with longitudinal section, to lower pollution made from tunnel blasting. With the sequential blasting machine, after I first blasted holes around the cut holes by a pre-splitting method, blasted the cut area and the 1st sloping holes. The 1st and 2nd sloping holes divided areas are initiated gradually to free face upwards made by the cut. Especially, I pre-splinted contour holes previous blast the before sloping holes from the contours. The ground vibration from the earth surface just over the advance face decreased about 42.0% compare with the down blasting method under the condition of equal charge weight per delay. I controlled the crack and over break of the mother rock by pre-splitting contour holes before blast the first sloping holes from the contours. The peak values of noise and air blast by blasting decreased about 10dB more than the down blasting method. the noise and air blast diminished gradually as a round. The throw distance of the fly rock was decreased about 55%.

  • This paper evalutes properties of extruding cement panel using Ca-extracted convert slag and air-cooled blast furnace slag. Flexural strength of extruding cement panel has measured in air dry and autoclave curing as basic study for use as silicious source. As a result, when Ca-extracted converter slag replaces 25% in autoclave curing, flexural strength measures 13.1MPa better than panel control mix. In result of using air-cooled blast furnace slag, Ca-extracted air-cooled blast furnace slag dose not show increase of flexural strength.

  • In this study, numerical analysis was carried out on a complex pressure field of blast waves caused by the detonation of high explosives in various environments. The generated blast waves propagated in the air, upon the sudden release of high energy induced by the explosion. Reflected waves were created when the pressure waves encountered certain obstacles such as the ground or the walls of structures. The propagation of the blast waves and its interaction with the reflected waves were simulated. An adaptive mesh refinement was applied to improve the efficiency of distribution of computer resource, for the computational calculation of the blast wave propagation in a wide open space. In addition, the integration of the calculation domains for the explosive and air were considered when the maximum density of the explosive region was below critical value. The results were verified by comparison with the pressure time history from blast wave experiments performed under two topographical conditions.
