Air pluviation method is widely adopted for preparation of large, uniform and repeatable sand beds of desired densities for laboratory studies to simulate in-situ conditions and obtain test results which are highly reliable. This paper presents details of a portable traveling pluviator recently developed for model sand bed preparation. The pluviator essentially consisted of a hopper, orifice plates for varying deposition intensity, combination of flexible and rigid tubes for smooth travel of material, and a set of diffuser sieves to obtain uniformity of pluviated sand bed. It was observed that sand beds of lower relative density can be achieved by controlling height of fall, whereas, denser sand beds could be obtained by controlling deposition intensity. Uniformity of pluviated sand beds was evaluated using cone penetration test and at lower relative densities minor variation in density was observed with depth. With increase in relative density of sand bed higher repeatability of uniform pluviation was achieved.
The present study examined postmetacercarial changes in the excysted metacercariae of Echinostoma caproni maintained in the defined medium Mixture 199 plus 20% calf serum for 7 days at $41^{\circ}C$. The gas phase was atmospheric air. Each culture was inoculated with 25 excysted metacerariae. Cultures were maintained upright in closed 15 ml plastic centrifuge tubes each containing 10 ml of medium plus 200 units of penicillin/ml and $200{\;}\mu\textrm{g}$ of streptomycin/ml. By 4 days in culture, most metacercariae had voided their excretory concretions. Organisms were clumped or solitary at the bottom of the cultures. Many organisms showed flaring of the oral collar and extension of both the collar and tegumentary spines. By 4 days in culture, posterior protuberances or bumps were noted on many of the organisms and some organisms showed abnormal vesicular growths or blebs at their posterior ends. Some mortality was noted in culture by day 5, but most organisms were still alive when the cultures were terminated on day 7.

We report the synthesis and characterization of the perovskite nanotubes made by sol-gel template syn-thesis.Both lead titanate (PbTiO3 : PT), lead zirconate (PbZrO3 : PZ) and lead zirconium titanate (PbZrO3 -PbTiO3 : PZT) solid solution nanotubes were prepared with a chelate sol-gel of titanium isopropoxide (Ti(OPri)4 ), zirconium tet-rabutoxide (Zr(OBu)4 ) and the respective lead acetate (Pb(OAc)2 -3H2O). WhatmanRanodisc membranes, with a 200nm pore size, served as the template. After the removal of the template in the 6M-NaOH, scanning electron microscopy shows that the shapes formed are 200 nm outer diameter tubes with 50mm lengths. Transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction reveal that the tubes are polycrystalline. The PT nanotubes so far have shown an anomalous transition temperature, 234.4$^{\circ}C$ as measured by DSC with a small particle size, 15.4 nm determined by X-ray analysis with the aid of Scherrer's equation.

This paper presents a numerical investigation of the deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT) of flame acceleration by a shock wave filled with an ethylene/air mixture as the combustible gas, considering geometrical changes by using obstacles and bent tubes. The model used consists of the reactive compressible Navier-Stokes equations and the ghost fluid method (GFM) for complex boundary treatment. Simulations with a variety of bent tubes with obstacles show the generation of hot spots through flame and strong shock-wave interactions, and restrained or accelerated flame propagation due to geometrical effects. In addition, the simulation results show that the DDT occurs with a nearly constant chemical heat-release rate of 20 MJ/($g{\bullet}s$) in our numerical setup. Furthermore, the DDT triggering time can be delayed by the absence of unreacted material together with insufficient pressures and temperatures induced by different flame shapes, although hot spots are formed in the same positions.
Flow condensation heat transfer coefficients(HTCs) of R22, R4IO, Propane(R290) were measured inside a horizontal 9 hole aluminum multi-channel flat tube. The main test section in the refrigerant loop was made of a 0.53 m long multi-channel flat tube of hydraulic diameter of 1.4 mm. Refrigerant was cooled by passing cold water through an annulus surrounding the test section. Data were obtained in qualities of 0.1 ${\sim}$ 0.9 at mass flux of $200{\sim}400$$kg/m^2s$ and heat flux of $7.3{\sim}7.7$$kW/m^2$ at the saturation temperature of $4^{\circ}C$. All popular heat transfer correlations in single-phase subcooled liquid flow and flow condensation originally developed for large single tubes predicted the present data of the multi channel flat tube within 25% deviation when effective heat transfer area was used in determining experimental data. This suggests that there is little change in flow characteristics and patterns when the tube diameter is reduced down to 1.4 mm diameter range. Hence, a modified correlation based on the present data was proposed which could be applied to small diameter tubes with effective heat transfer area. The correlation showed a mean deviation of less than 20% for all data.
Aiming at the corrosion circumstances and corrosion prevention needs of downhole oil tubes, series protective coatings for downhole oil tubes have been developed in the authors' laboratory, including a baked type coating YG-01 and an air curing type coating YG-03, etc. The performance investigation of the coatings has been done for testing their corrosion resistance, mainly including salt fog test, immersion test in oil-field waste water and various acid solutions, high temperature and high pressure test in alkali solution or $H_2S/CO_2$ environment, as well as some other performances. The investigation results show that oil tube anti-corrosion coatings developed here can endure over 4000 hrs salt fog test, over 1000 hrs immersion in various acid solutions at room temperature and in boiling oil-field waste water. In addition, the coatings can keep intact after experiencing test in alkali solution under 70 MPa pressure at $150^{\circ}C$ for 24 hrs, and in simulative sour gas environment under the total pressure of 32 MPa ($P_{H_{2}S}=3.2MPa$, $P_{CO_{2}}=3.2MPa$) at $90^{\circ}C$ for 168 hrs, which show that the coatings can be used for corrosion prevention in downhole environments with specific high temperature and high pressure, such as sour gas wells. The other testing results show the oil tube protective coatings have excellent comprehensive performance.

This paper deals with the heat transfer characteristics of R-290 (Propane), R-600a (Iso-butane) and R-1270 (Propylene) as an environment friendly refrigerant and R-22 as a HCFC's refrigerant for evaporating. The experimental apparatus has been set-up as conventional vapor compression type refrigeration and air-conditioning system. The test section is a horizontal double pipe heat exchanger. Evaporating heat transfer measurements were performed for smooth tube with the outer diameters of 12.70, 9.52 and 6.35 mm and micro-fin tube 12.70 mm, respectively. For the smooth and micro-fin tubes measured in this study, the evaporating heat transfer coefficient was enhanced according to the increase of the mass flux and decrease of the tube diameter. The local evaporating heat transfer coefficients of hydrocarbon refrigerants were superior to those of R-22 and the maximum increasing rate of heat transfer coefficient was found in R-1270. The average evaporating heat transfer coefficients in hydrocarbon refrigerants showed 20 to 28% higher values than those of R-22. Also, the evaporating heat transfer coefficients of R-22 in the tube diameter of the 12.70 mm smooth and micro-fin tube were compared. Generally, the local heat transfer coefficients for both types of tubes increased with an increase of the mass flux. The heat transfer enhancement factor (EF) between smooth and micro-fin tube varied from 1.9 to 2.7 in all experimental conditions.
The automatic system for $^{67}Ga$ production using for the diagnosis of malignant tumor has been developed. A solvent extraction and an ion exchange chromatography were used for the separation $^{67}Ga$ from the irradiated enriched $^{68}Zn$. This system consisted of a solvent separation unit which was composed of micro conductivity cells, air supply tubes, solvent transfer tubes, solenoid valves and glasses, a PLC based controller and a PMU user interface unit for automation. The radiation exposure to the workers and the production time can both be reduced by employing this system during the $^{67}Ga$ production phase. After all, the mass production of $^{67}Ga$ with high efficiency was possible.

A MILD (Moderate and Intense Low oxygen Dilution) combustor decreases NOx formation effectively during the combustion process and NOx formation is affected significantly by the exhaust gas entrainment rate toward fuel and air. The present study focused on the new MILD combustor, which has coaxial cylindrical tube. The outside tube of the new MILD combustor corresponds to the exhaust gas passage and the inner side tube is the furnace passage. The connection pipe is set between the outer side and the inner side tubes and coaxial air nozzle is inserted at the center of the connection pipe. A numerical analysis is accomplished to elucidate the characteristics of exhaust gas entrainment toward the inner furnace with the changes of air nozzle exit velocity, nozzle diameter, nozzle exit position and exhaust gas side pressure. The entrainment rate is proportional to the square root of air nozzle exit velocity and negatively proportional to the pressure difference between the exhaust gas side and furnace side pressures. The effect of air nozzle exit position is not considerable on the exhaust gas entrainment.
Background: Chest tube drainage (CTD) is an indication for the treatment of pneumothorax, hemothroax and is used after a thoracic surgery. But, in the case of incomplete lung expansion, and/or persistent air leak from CTD, medical or surgical thoracoscopy or, if that is unavailable, limited thoracotomy, should be considered. We evaluate the efficacy of bronchoscopic injection of ethanolamine to control the persistent air leak in patients with CTD. Methods: Patients who had persistent or prolonged air leak from CTD were included, consecutively. We directly injected 1.0 mL solution of 5% ethanolamine oleate into a subsegmental or its distal bronchus, where it is a probable air leakage site, 1 to 21 times using an injection needle through a fiberoptic bronchoscope. Results: A total of 15 patients were enrolled; 14 cases of spontaneous pneumothorax [idiopathic 9, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) 3, post-tuberculosis 2] and one case of empyema associated with broncho-pleural fistula. Of these, five were patients with persistent air leak from CTD, just after a surgical therapy, wedge resection with plication for blebs or bullae. With an ethanolamine injection therapy, 12 were successful but three (idiopathic, COPD and post-tuberculosis) failed, and were followed by a surgery (2 cases) or pleurodesis (1 case). Some adverse reactions, such as fever, chest pain and increased radiographic opacities occurred transiently, but resolved without any further events. With success, the time from the procedure to discharge was about 3 days (median). Conclusion: Bronchoscopic ethanolamine injection therapy may be partially useful in controlling air leakage, and reducing the hospital stay in patients with persistent air leak from CTD.
