ARIMA-Intervention 시계열모형을 활용한 제주 국내선 항공여객수요 추정 (A Study on the Air Travel Demand Forecasting using time series ARIMA-Intervention Model)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of intervention variables which may affect the air travel demand for Jeju domestic flights and to anticipate the air travel demand for Jeju domestic flights. The air travel demand forecasts for Jeju domestic flights are conducted through ARIMA-Intervention Model selecting five intervention variables such as 2002 World Cup games, SARS, novel swine-origin influenza A, Yeonpyeongdo bombardment and Japan big earthquake. The result revealed that the risk factor such as the threat of war that is a negative intervention incident and occurred in Korea has the negative impact on the air travel demand due to the response of risk aversion by users. However, when local natural disasters (earthquakes, etc) occurring in neighboring courtiers and global outbreak of an epidemic gave the negligible impact to Korea, negative intervention incident would have a positive impact on air travel demand as a response to find alternative due to rational expectation of air travel customers. Also we realize that a mega-event such as the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup games reduced the air travel demand in a short-term period unlike the perception in which it will increase the air travel demand and travel demands in the corresponding area.

  • A 49-year-old female with a history of several neurosurgical and otolaryngologic procedures for occipital meningioma and cerebrospinal fluid leaks was diagnosed with pneumocephalus after a one hour flight on a domestic jet airliner. Despite multiple operations, the air appeared to enter the cranium through a weak portion of the skull base due to the low atmospheric pressure in the cabin. The intracranial air was absorbed with conservative management. The patient was recommended not to fly before a definite diagnostic work up and a sealing procedure for the cerebrospinal fluid leak site had been performed. Recent advances in aviation technology have enabled many people to travel by air, including individuals with medical conditions. Low cabin pressure is not dangerous to healthy individuals; however, practicing consultant neurosurgeons should understand the cabin environment and prepare high risk patients for safe air travel.

  • The purpose of this study is to anticipate the air travel demands over the period of 164 months, from January 1997 to August 2010 using ARIMA-Intervention modeling on the selected sample data. The sample data is composed of the number of the passengers who in the domestic route for Jeju route. In the analysis work of this study, the past events which are assumed to have affected the demands for the air travel routes to Jeju in different periods were used as the intervention variables. The impacts of such variables were reflected in the presupposed demand. The intervention variables used in this study are, respectively, the World Cup event in 2002 (from May to June), 2003 SARS outbreak (from April to May), Tsunami in January 2005, and the influenza outbreak from October to December 2009. The result of the above mentioned analysis revealed that the negative intervention events, like a global outbreak of an epidemic did have negative impact on the air travel demands in a risk aversion by the users of the aviation services. However, in case of the negative intervention events in limited area, where there are possible substituting destinations for the tourists, the impact was positive in terms of the air travel demands for substituting destinations due to the rational expectation of the users as they searched for other options. Also in this study, it was discovered that there is not a binding correlation between a nation wide mega-event, such as the World Cup games in 2002, and the increased air travel demands over a short-term period.

노인의 안전한 항공여행 (The Safe Air Travel of the Elderly)

  • The Republic of Korea is rapidly entering an aging society. With the aging of society, the overseas travel of the elderly is increasing rapidly. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of overseas tourists aged 61 or older last year exceeded 2.5 million, of which over 80 were over 200,000. Age is no longer a limiting factor for traveling abroad, but traveling to unfamiliar places is certainly a challenge. Old people may experience a variety of problems, so special care should be taken. In particular, the aircraft cabin environment is different from the ground, so elderly travelers with respiratory or heart disease require special attention. In this paper, we want to know the precautions and how to prepare for the safe air travel for the elderly.

항공기 내 실내공기질에 관한 고찰: 이동의 증가와 건강에 미치는 영향 및 블리드에어의 영향 (Indoor Air Quality in Aircraft: The Impact of Increased Mobility and Health Effects and the Influence of Bleed Air)

  • Background: With the rise in global mobility, aircraft indoor air quality has become a significant public health concern. This study focuses on the health implications of increased travel and bleed air-air drawn from aircraft engines for cabin pressurization and air conditioning. Objectives: This research aims to review the potential health effects related to exposure to aircraft cabin air, particularly the effects of bleed air during fume events. Methods: We conducted a literature review of existing studies on aircraft cabin air quality. We focused on both the immediate and health effects of exposure to cabin air, particularly those related to bleed air contaminants. Results: The review found a possible link between exposure to aircraft cabin air and certain health issues, especially in cabin crew and frequent flyers. There was an increased incidence of respiratory and neurological symptoms related to bleed air exposure. However, the cumulative health effects of frequent air travel remain inconclusive due to limited data. Conclusions: This study highlights the need for improving air quality in aircraft to protect public health. While further research is needed to understand the cumulative effects of frequent air travel, the reduction of exposure to bleed air contaminants should be a priority. These findings underline the need for regulatory changes and technological improvements in aircraft cabin air quality.

여행경로 추천 서비스를 위한 최적화 수리모형 (New Mathematical Model for Travel Route Recommendation Service)

  • With the increased interest in the quality of life of modern people, the implementation of the five-day working week, the increase in traffic convenience, and the economic and social development, domestic and international travel is becoming commonplace. Furthermore, in the past, there were many cases of purchasing packaged goods of specialized travel agencies. However, as the development of the Internet improved the accessibility of information about the travel area, the tourist is changing the trend to plan the trip such as the choice of the destination. Web services have been introduced to recommend travel destinations and travel routes according to these needs of the customers. Therefore, after reviewing some of the most popular web services today, such as Stubby planner (http://www.stubbyplanner.com) and Earthtory (http://www.earthtory.com), they were supposed to be based on traditional Traveling Salesman Problems (TSPs), and the travel routes recommended by them included some practical limitations. That is, they were not considered important issues in the actual journey, such as the use of various transportation, travel expenses, the number of days, and lodging. Moreover, although to recommend travel destinations, there have been various studies such as using IoT (Internet of Things) technology and the analysis of cyberspatial Big Data on the web and SNS (Social Networking Service), there is little research to support travel routes considering the practical constraints. Therefore, this study proposes a new mathematical model for applying to travel route recommendation service, and it is verified by numerical experiments on travel to Jeju Island and trip to Europe including Germany, France and Czech Republic. It also expects to be able to provide more useful information to tourists in their travel plans through linkage with the services for recommending tourist attractions built in the Internet environment.

  • 제주도는 국내 항공교통의 약 90 %를 차지하는 주요 기종점이며, 연간 천만명 이상의 국내외 관광객이 방문하는 주요 관광지이다. 국내 외 제주도 방문객의 공항 및 항공 여건에 대한 만족도, 요구사항, 그리고 제주도 내에서의 관광을 위한 여객 통행행태는 제주도 내는 물론 내륙의 항공 및 관광, 모빌리티 산업에 의미하는 바가 크다. 본 연구는 선행연구와 달리 내국인 방문객 뿐만 아니라 외국인 방문객과 거주민을 포함한 설문조사를 바탕으로, 전술한 바와 같은 의의를 지니는 제주 관련 여객 통행행태를 제시하고자 하였다. 특히 본 연구를 위해 수행한 설문조사는 2019년 3월 이루어져, 2020년 초 COVID-19 대응 방역지침 이전에 수행된 조사로서, COVID-19 전/후의 제주도 관광여객통행 및 항공통행 변화의 주요한 사전 연구가 될 것으로 기대된다. 한편, 본 연구가 3월에 수행되어 시기적 특성을 반영하지 못한다는 점, 국내선 이용량이 압도적으로 많아 국제선에 대한 별도의 내용을 제시하고 있지 못하다는 점은 한계에 해당한다.

미관찰 지역 특성을 고려한 내국인 국제선 항공수요 추정 모형 (Outbound Air Travel Demand Forecasting Model with Unobserved Regional Characteristics)

  • 지속적으로 증가하는 국제선 항공수요에 대웅하기 위해 지방 광역권에도 새로운 공항 건설 및 기존 공항 확장 계획이 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 기존 항공수요예측은 우리나라 전체 항공수요 또는 주요 도시 간의 항공수요에 대해서 수행되어 왔으며, 지방의 고유 특성을 고려한 지역별 항공수요예측은 많이 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 영남권 국제선 항공수요를 대상으로 하였고, 현실적으로 관측하기 어려운 지방 광역권의 고유 특성을 반영할 수 있는 패널 자료를 활용한 fixed-effects model을 최적 모형으로 제안하였다. 모형 검증결과를 살펴보면 패널 자료 분석은 시계열 특성을 가지는 몇 개의 거시 사회경제지표만을 사용한 모형에서 다루기 어려운 허구적 회귀와 미관찰 이질성을 효과적으로 처리하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 다양한 통계적 검증과 적합성 평가를 통해서 본 연구에서 제안한 fixed-effects model이 다른 계량경제 모형들에 비해서 영남권 국제선 수요예측에 있어서 우수함을 증명하였다.

중국 개인 여행객의 계절별 한국 여행경로 특성분석 (A Study on the Characteristics of the Seasonal Travel Path of Individual Chinese Travellers in Korea)

  • 2016년 한국에 미군의 사드 미사일이 배치된 이후 중국으로부터 단체관광은 전면 중단되었다. 이후 중국인의 한국 관광은 개인 중심의 여행일정으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2018년 1월부터 12월 까지 온라인 여행노트를 통해 데이터를 수집하고, 소셜 네트워크 분석을 활용하여 개별방문 중국인의 계절별 한국관광 여정 특성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 서울은 중국인의 한국여행 허브이며 개별 방문 중국인의 주요 방문지는 서울, 부산, 제주도, 경주 및 강릉에 집중되어 있고 계절에 따라 큰 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과는 개별 중국인의 한국 관광을 위한 관광코스의 개발, 관광 서비스 제공 및 관광 시설배치의 최적화를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다. 향후 연구는 여행 방문지와 관광명소 사이의 이동 교통방식을 연구하여 관광 일정 계획 설계에 참고를 제공할 수 있다.

우리나라 화물 시간가치의 적정 크기와 적용 가능 범위 연구 (A Study of Appropriate Amounts and Applicable Ranges of the Travel Time Values of Goods in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라에서 화물의 운송수단별로 통행시간가치가 어느 정도 크기로 수렴되는 것이 적정한 지를 평가해보고, 아울러 시간가치를 어느 정도의 범위 안에서 적용하는 것이 합리적인지를 강구하였다. 연구의 결과 화물차를 이용한 도로운송은 적정 시간가치의 크기와 범위의 도출이 가능하나, 철도와 내륙수로 해운, 항공운송 등은 도출에 한계가 있었다. 도로운송 화물의 적정 시간가치 크기는 20,000원/대 시간이며, 가변적 요소까지를 감안하였을 때 적용 가능한 범위의 분포는 17,000~23,000원/대 시간이다. 아울러 시간가치의 산정 방법은 도로운송의 경우 임금율법이 적정하나 철도, 내륙수로, 해운, 항공 운송 등은 적용 목적과 대상 화물의 특성을 반영하여 한계대체율법을 사용하는 방안이 합리적임을 제시하였다.
