동축 수소 확산화염에서의 NOx 생성 분석 (Analysis of NOx Emissions in Thrbulent Nonpremixed Hydrogen-Air Jet Flames with Coaxial Air)

  • The characteristics of NOx emissions in pure hydrogen nonpremixed flames with coaxial air are analyzed numerically for the three model cases of coaxial air flames classified by varying coaxial air velocity and/or fuel velocity. In coaxial air flames, the flame length is reduced by coaxial air and can be represented as a function of the ratio of coaxial air to fuel velocity. Coaxial air decreases flame reaction zone, resulting in reducing flame residence time significantly. Finally, the large reduction of EINOx is achieved by the decrease of the flame residence time. It is found that because coaxial air can break down the flame self-similarity law, appropriate scaling parameters, which are different from those in the simple jet flames, are recommended. In coaxial air flames, the flame residence time based on the flame volume produces better results than that based on a cube of the flame length. And some portion of deviations from the 1/2 scaling law by coaxial air may be due to the violation of the linear relationship between the flame volume and the flame reaction zone.

동축공기 수소확산 화염의 자기상사성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Self-Similarity in Turbulent Hydrogen Jet Flames with Coaxial Air)

  • 동축공기 수소확산 화염에서 세 가지 동축공기 조건과 화염의 유무에 따라 실험조건을 분류하고, 이에 대해 PIV를 이용하여 실험을 수행하였다. PIV를 통해 얻은 속도장을 이용하여 평균속도, 난류강도, Reynolds stress 등을 구하여 유동장을 분석하였다. 우선 단순제트에 대해 상사성을 살펴본 결과 이전의 다른 연구자의 실험결과와 일치하였다. 동축공기가 있는 경우 중심축 속도 감쇠는 $x^{-1}$에 비례하여 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 축방향 길이를 유효밀도에 의해 정의된 유효 제트 지름으로 무차원화한 값으로 중심축 속도를 도시한 결과 하나의 선분에 떨어지는 것을 확인하였다. 평균속도 분포를 살펴보면 일정한 연료유량에 동축공기 유량을 증가시킨 경우 동축공기가 증가함에 따라 속도 분포의 형태가 바뀌게 되어 자기상사성이 유지되지 않는 것으로 보인다. 난류강도는 평균속도 분포의 경우보다 후류에서 자기상사성이 나타난다.

Performance Prediction of Centrifugal Compressor Based on Performance Test, Similarity Conversion and CFD Simulation

  • One centrifugal compressor is applied for refrigeration and its working substance is R134a. The operating points obtained by using similar conversion at different rotation speeds are compared with the numerical results. They keep consistent with each other while the rotation speeds are lower, but the error between them will become large with the increasing of the rotation speed. Then the operating points are obtained when the working substance is air by using two similar conversion methods separately. Based on the comparison, it can be obtained that the result of keeping the specific volume ratio of inlet and outlet is more accurate than the result of maintaining Ma number. Then the test result is compared with the similarity result and the numerical result when the working substance is air. It is obtained that the similarity result is more consistent with the test result better than the numerical result and the trend of efficiency and pressure ratio change with the flow rate is consistent with the test result. In the process of similar conversion, the efficiency ${\eta}$ is no useful for similitude design and it has less influence on the conversion result.

Derivation of a Simplified Heat Transfer Correlation for AP 600 Passive Containment Cooling System

  • A simplified heat transfer model for the cooling capability of the AP 600 PCCS is proposed I this paper. As the PCCS domain is covered with very thin and long water film, it is phenomenologically divided into 3 regions; water entrance effect region, asymptotic region, and air entrance effect region. As the length of the asymptotic region is estimated to be over 90% of the whole domain, the phenomena in the asymptotic region is focused. Using the analogy between heat and mass transfer phenomena in a turbulent situation, a new dependent variable combining temperature and vapor mass fraction was defined. The similarity between the PCCs phenomena in the asymptotic region and the buoyant air flow phenomena on a vertical heated plate is derived. Using the similarity, the simplified heat transfer correlations for the interfacial heat fluxes and the ratios of latent heat transfer to sensible heat transfer were established. To verify the accuracy of the correlation, the results of this study were compared with those of other numerical analyses performed for the same configuration and they are well within the range of 15% difference.

비행체 설계 형상 타당성 확인을 위한 무선조종 모형시험 기법 적용 (An Application of Radio-Controlled Model Testing Techniques to Validation of Air-Vehicle Design Configuration)

  • 비행체 설계 접근 방법으로서 무선조종 모형시험 기법 적용 방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 접근 방법은 동적 상사성을 유지한 축소모형 비행체의 비행특성 분석을 통하여 기본 설계 형상의 타당성을 확인하고 그 결과를 비행체 초기 설계 단계에서 공력 설계 절차에 반영하는 것이다. 축소 비행모형 설계 시 실제적 적용이 가능한 상사 법칙을 개발하기 위하여 비행체 운동을 조종안정성 상사를 위한 회전운동과 비행성능 상사를 위한 병진운동으로 분리하였다. 또한, 무선조종 모형 비행시험을 위한 세부 기법을 개발하였다. 무선조종 비행시험으로부터 얻은 결과를 기초로, 제시된 비행체 설계 접근 방법은 비행체 설계 초기 단계에서 설계 형상 타당성을 확인하는데 유용한 것으로 확인되었다.

Parameterization of Along-Wind Dispersion Coefficients based on Field and Wind Tunnel Data

  • Observations related to the along-wind dispersion of puffs were collected from 12 field sites and from a wind tunnel experiment and used to test simple similarity relations. Because most of the date made use of concentration time series observation from fixed monitors, the basic observation was t, the standard deviation of the concentration time series. This data also allowed the travel time, t, from the source to the receptor to be estimated, from which the puff advective speed ue, could be determined. The along-wind dispersion coefficient, x, was then assumed to equal tue. The data, which extended over four orders of magnitude, supported the similarity relations t=0.1 t and x=1.8 $u^*$t, where t is the travel time and $u^*$ is the friction velocity. About 50% of the observations were within a factor of two of the predictions based on the similarity relations.

  • The real chip and similarity model were used to investigate the thermal behavior and velocity distribution of air from the heat source with the location and the amount of heat experimentally and numerically, and compared. The heat generated in the block is not cooled by convection and show the high temperature by the stagnation of heat flow. After maintaining the high temperature of block by the natural convection, the sudden drop of temperature with the air flow was shown in the channel but the decreasing rate was small with the time. The inward block was effected by infinitesimal air flow generated between block and channel and outward block was effected by the entry condition.

Resistance Reduction of a High Speed Small Boat by Air Lubrication

  • The resistance reduction by an air lubrication effect of a large air cavity covering the hull bottom surface and the similarity relations involved have been investigated with a series of towing tank tests of three geometrically similar models. The test results of geometrically similar models have indicated that a large air cavity was formed beneath the bottom having a backward-facing step by artificially supplying air is effective for resistance reduction. The areas of air cavity and the required flow rates of air are directly related to the effective wetted surface area. The traditional extrapolation methods seem to be applicable to the estimation of the resistance in the tested range if corrections are made to account the changes in the frictional resistance caused by the changes in the effective wetted surface area. To investigate the effectiveness of air lubrication in improving the resistance performance of a practical ship, a small test boat having a backward-facing step under its bottom has been manufactured and speed trials in a river have been performed. Air has been supplied artificially into the downstream region of the bottom step to form a large air cavity covering the bottom surface. The results have confirmed the practical applicability of air lubrication for the resistance reduction of a small high-speed boat.

  • Compressor is a major noise source of air-conditioner. Especially, its low frequency band noise below 1000㎐ is very important because it will not be attenuated by passing through the cover panel and heat exchanger in air-conditioner. The factors affecting the low frequency band noise are studied by geometric similarity along with several experiments, and the low frequency noise is closely related with the discharge holes of muffler as well as the cavity of lower shell.
