이동형 전자식 TACAN 안테나 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Mobile Electronically Scanned TACAN Antenna)

  • 본 논문은 기생소자와 핀 다이오드 스위치를 이용한 전자식 전술 항법 장비(Tactical Air Navigation) 안테나에 대하여 설계 및 구현을 설명한다. 모터를 이용하여 기계적으로 안테나가 회전하는 대신 전자적으로 안테나를 회전시키기 위하여 기생소자를 원형 배열 형태로 배치하고, 핀 다이오드 스위치를 사용하였다. 방위정보를 포함하는 심장모양 패턴과 9개의 로브 패턴을 생성하기 위한 안테나의 구조적 특성과 설계 특징을 설명하고, 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 측정된 결과는 시뮬레이션과 일치하고, MIL-STD-291C 규격을 만족한다.

소규모 발전용 스크롤 팽창기 성능시험 (Performance Test of Scroll Expander for Micro-Power Generation)

  • This paper addresses the development of a scroll expander for power generation from relatively low temperature steam source. It has a double-sided orbiting scroll member so that no thrust bearing is needed to support the base plate of the orbiting scroll. Three power transmission shafts are placed at the periphery of the orbiting scroll base plate, and these shafts can also function as anti-rotation devices. Final output is obtained from the main central shaft engaged with the three power transmission shafts through gear assembly. The clearance between the fixed and orbiting scroll elements was estimated by comparing measurement of the mass flow rate with calculation results of a computer simulation. Due to large clearance, the expander total and volumetric efficiencies were measured to be $34\%\;and\;43\%$, respectively. It has been shown through the computer simulation that the total and volumetric efficiencies could be improved to $65\%\;and\;83\%$, respectively, if the current clearance is reduced by half.

난류 유동을 갖는 가스 포일 스러스트 베어링의 성능 예측 (Performance Predictions of Gas Foil Thrust Bearings with Turbulent Flow)

  • Gas foil thrust bearings (GFTBs) support axial loads in oil-free, high speed rotating machinery using air or gas as a lubricant. Due to the inherent low viscosity of the lubricant, GFTBs often have super-laminar flows in the film region at operating conditions with high Reynolds numbers. This paper develops a mathematical model of a GFTB with turbulent flows and validates the model predictions against those from the literature. The pressure distribution, film thickness distribution, load carrying capacity, and power loss are predicted for both laminar and turbulent flow models and compared with each other. Predictions for an air lubricant show that the GFTB has high Reynolds numbers at the leading edge where the film thickness is large and relatively low Reynolds numbers at the trailing edge. The predicted load capacity and power loss for the turbulent flow model show little difference from those for the laminar flow model even at the highest speed of 100 krpm, because the Reynolds numbers are smaller than the critical Reynolds number. On the other hand, refrigerant (R-134a) lubricant, which has a higher density than air, had significant differences due to high Reynolds numbers in the film region, in particular, near the leading and outer edges. The predicted load capacity and power loss for the turbulent flow model are 2.1 and 2.3 times larger, respectively, than those for the laminar flow model, thus implying that the turbulent flow greatly affects the performance of the GFTB.

  • Recently, ultra-lightweight materials with open, periodic cell structures take much attention owing to its potential for multi-functionality such as load bearing, thermal dissipation, and actuation. This paper presents experimental results on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics for the Wire-woven Bulk Kagome (WBK) composed of aluminum 1100 wires. The overall pressure drop and heat transfer of the WBK specimen was experimentally investigated under forced air convection condition. The pressure loss and heat transfer performance of the aluminum WBK were compared with other heat dissipation media. It was shown that heat transfer characteristics depended on relative density and surface area density. Comparison with metal foams and other heat dissipation media such as packed beds, lattice frame materials, louvered fins, and others suggests that the aluminum WBK competes favorably with the best available heat dissipation media in heat transfer performance.

내장형 모터와 리니어 모터를 적용한 초고속 수평형 머시닝센터의 열 특성 해석 (Thermal Characteristic Analysis of a High-Speed Horizontal Machining Center with Built-in Motor and Linear Motors)

  • This paper presents the thermal characteristic analysis of a high-speed horizontal machining center with spindle speed of 50,000rpm and feedrate of 120m/min. The spindle system is designed based on the built-in motor, angular contact ceramic ball bearings, oil-air lubrication and oil-jacket cooling method. The X-axis and Y-axis feeding systems are composed of the linear motors and linear motion guides, and the Z-axis feeding system is composed of the servo-motor, ball screw and linear motion guides. The thermal characteristics such as the temperature distribution, temperature rise, thermal deformation and step response, are estimated based on the finite element model of machining center and the heat generation rates of heat sources related to the machine operation conditions. Especially, the thermal time constant assessed from the step response function is introduced as an index of thermal response characteristics.

  • Information storage devices have been studied to increase the storage capacity and the data transfer rate as well as to decrease the access time and their physical sizes. Optical information storage devices have been achieved high-capacity by reducing optical spot size remarkably due to the development of Blue-ray technology. Optical information storage devices usually use 1.2mm-thick polycarbonate(PC) media to get high enough stiffness. However, it would be better if we can decrease the thickness of a disk for achieving thinner device while keeping the capacity as large as possible. Decreasing the thickness of the storage media makes it difficult to read and write data because it increases the transverse vibration of the rotating disk due to the interaction with surrounding air and the vibration characteristics of thin flexible disk itself, Therefore, a special design based on the fluid mechanics is required to suppress the transverse vibration of the disk in non-contact manner so that the optical pickup can read/write data successfully. In this study, a curved wall is proposed as a stabilizer to suppress the transverse vibration of a $95{\mu}m$-thick PC disk. The characteristics of disk vibration due to a curved wall have been studied through numerical and experimental analysis from the fluid mechanics point of view. The proposed shapes are possible candidates as stabilizers to suppress the transverse vibration of a flexible disk which rotates at high speed.

Effects of Treatment Using PNF Pattern Irradiation in the Weight-Bearing Position on Pain and Foot Alignment in a Patient with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: A Single-Subject Experimental Study

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the use of insoles in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders to assess the function and changes in pain when walking in daily life. Methods: Sixty-five patients with temporomandibular joint disorder, were selected, with 34 assigned to the control group and 31 to the experimental group. The control group walked more than 7,000 steps per day in their daily life, while the experimental group wore insoles and was instructed to take at least 7,000 steps every day. To evaluate the effect on temporomandibular joint pain, steady-state pain, maximum mouth opening, average pain, and the most severe pain were measured before and after the experiment. In addition, to determine function, mouth opening in a comfortable state, mouth opening pain, and the point of sound and the maximum degree of mouth opening were evaluated before and after the experiment. Results: After the experiment, pain, mouth opening, and sound points showed significant differences compared to the control group. However, there was no significant difference in the maximum mouth opening range. Conclusion: The application of air insoles to patients with temporomandibular joint disorder confirmed the function of the temporomandibular joint and its positive effects on pain.

국제항공운임과 국내 경쟁법규의 적용 (International Airfares and Application of Competition Laws)

  • 제2차 세계대전 이후 국제항공체제의 근간이 되는 1944년의 시카고협약에 의하면 국가 간 항공 운송은 양자협상체제로 규율되며, 특히 운임은 IATA의 운임설정기구를 통한 항공사간 협의와 관련국 정부의 인가로 운영되고 있다. 항공 운임은 여객, 수하물 및 우편물을 제외한 화물의 운송에 대해 부과되는 가격과 그 가격의 가용성 및 사용을 지배하는 조건이다. 전통적인 양자협정이 질서 있고 원만한 항공 시장의 발전에 주안점을 두고 있는 반면 자유화협정 체제는 운임의 자유 경쟁을 비롯하여 가능한 한 모든 규제를 철폐하고 있다. 또한 EU를 비롯한 지역적인 블록은 역내 항공자유화를 추구하고 있다. 한편 자유화와는 별개로 전 세계적인 차원에서 자원의 효율적인 활용과 파괴적인 경쟁으로 초래되는 시장의 독과점 상태를 방지하기 위하여 항공사간 다양한 형태의 협력(합병 및 인수, 공동 운항, 운임협의, CRS, 지상조업 등)이 추구되고 있다. 이들 자유화를 지향하는 국가에서는 항공 운임을 포함한 항공사간 협력이 경쟁을 저해함으로써 소비자 후생에 반하는지 여부를 판단하여 반독점 면제(antitrust immunity)를 부여할 것인가를 결정하고 있다. 운임을 비롯한 항공사간 협력이 항공사간 공정한 경쟁을 유지하고 소비자 이익을 증진할 경우 반독점 면제를 부여하고 있다. 면제의 허용 여부는 관련 국가와의 원만한 관계 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 신중하게 결정하여야 한다.

범프포일의 3차원 형상을 고려한 공기 포일저널베어링의 정특성 해석 (The Static Performance Analyses of Air Foil Journal Bearings Considering Three-Dimensional Structure of Bump Foil)

  • The calculation of bump foil deflection is very important to predict the performance of foil bearings more accurately, because the foil bearings consist of top foil and its elastic foundation usually called bump foil. For the purpose of this, a finite element model considering 3-dimensional structure of the bump foil is developed to calculate the deflection of inter-connected bump. The results obtained from the suggested model are compared and analyzed with those from the previous proposed deflection models. In addition, load capacity of the foil bearings is analyzed by using this model.

  • In this paper the effect of bump compliance, load, and the number of pad on the lift-off speed is studied. When the load is greater and bump compliance lower, the shaft is lifted off at higher rotating speed. And when the load is applied near the center of pad, lift-off speed is lower. When the number of pad increases, the lift-off speed is higher. The lift-off characteristics can be used to lengthen the lift time of the coating and design the rotating machinery supported by bump bearings.
