VAV/BPFS(Variable-Air-Volume/Bypass Filtration System) 의 실내환경 적응에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of VAV/BPFS(Variable-Air-Volume/Bypass Filtration System) for Indoor Air Environment)

  • Under controlled conditions in an environmental chamber, 24 experiments were performed to compare the ability of a Variable-Air-Volume/Bypass Filtration System(VAV/BPFS) to remove indoor pollutants and to conserve energy with the ability of conventional Variable Air Volume(VAV) system. The specific conclusions of this paper were; first, the VAV/BPFS was more efficient than the VAV system in removing particulate matter, TVOC, and target VOCs. The total effective removal rate of PM for the VAV/BPFS was two times as high as that of the VAV system. The total effective removal rate of TVOC for the VAV/BPFS was 20 percent higher than that of the VAV system. Also each target VOC concentration was reduced by using the VAV/BPFS. Second, clean air delivery rate was increased by using VAV/BPFS due to additional filtration rate. Otherwise, the VAV/BPFS decreased outdoor supply air rate above 25 percent relative to the rate of VAV system. Third, total energy consumption by the VAV/BPFS was lower than that of the VAV system during the period with indoor thermal load, occupied time. The energy saving of the VAV/BPFS ranged from 11 to 16 percent. The VAV/BPFS improves indoor air quality more efficiently than the VAV system, and it reduced energy consumption. Retrofitting the VAV system with the VAV/BPFS was easy The use of VAV/BPFS is, therefore, recommended far buildings with VAV system as well as for buildings at designing stage.

단일유로 멀티사이클 및 바이패스유로 멀티사이클 적용 냉동시스템의 성능특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Performance Characteristics of a Single-Circuit Multi Cycle and a Bypass Two-Circuit Multi Cycle)

  • The object of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of refrigerators using a single-circuit multi cycle and a bypass two-circuit multi cycle. Each refrigeration cycle was tested by varying secondary fluid mass flow rate and temperature. Based on the experimental data, the optimum refrigerant charge was 48 g and the COP at the optimum secondary fluid mass flow rate was 1.53 for the single-circuit multi cycle. For freezer(F)-only mode, both the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were operated at overcharge conditions, resulting in an increase of the secondary fluid mass flow rate. The maximum COPs of the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were 1.22 and 1.35, respectively. The COP increased by 10.7% with the application of the bypass two-circuit multi cycle.

  • This study has been conducted to propose an optimal design guidance of underfloor air distribution system by examining air pattern and proper exhaust status of floor plenum using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Simulation shows deficient air pattern and exhaust status at BPG (Bypass Grille) of the current design. As a means to find an alternative design, four cases have been developed and tested. Case 1, 2 and 3 show similar results in comparison to the current design. However, case 4 shows improved air pattern and exhaust status at BPG(Bypass Grille), and has been chosen as the optimal alternative.

열펌프 건조기의 성능에 관한 수치해석 (A numerical study on the performance of a heat pump assisted dryer)

  • 본 연구에서는 냉매 HFC134a를 사용한 배치형 열펌프건조기(Batch type heat pump dryer)에 대하여 수치적 해석을 수행하였다. 즉 냉매의 과열도와 과냉도를 일정하게 유지하고 공기의 질량유량, 공기의 바이패스비(bypass ratio), 압축기의 회전속도, 건조기의 입구건구온도에 따른 건조기의 성능을 분석하였다. SMER에 대하여 수치해와 실험치를 비교한 결과 최대 10%이내에서 잘 일치 하였다. 또한 공기의 질량유량에 대하여 적정공기의 바이패스비가 존재하며, 건조기 입구온도가 $35^{\circ}C$이고, 압축기 회전속도가 1360rpm일 때, 공기질량유량이 0.5kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 30%, 0.7kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 40%, 0.9kg/s와 1.1kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 50%에서 최대의 SMER이 나타다. 그리고 압축기 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 SMER은 감소지만 COP는 증가하고 건조기의 입구건구온도가 증가함에 따라 SMER과 COP는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

이중 입구형 맥동관 냉동기에서의 압력 파형 측정 (Pressure Measurement in Double Inlet Pulse Tube Refrigerator)

  • A double-inlet pulse tube refrigerator was fabricated as a U-shape with $\Phi$19.0 mm${\times}$125 mm regenerator packed by #200 stainless steel mesh and $\Phi$12.7 mm${\times}$125 mm pulse tube. A pressure sensor was installed at the inlet of the regenerator and a differential pressure sensor was installed across the bypass. Amplitude of the pulsating pressure was independent of the opening of the orifice and the bypass valves. Helium flow through the orifice and the bypass was calculated based on the measured pressure. Energy loss through the orifice and the bypass was evaluated with the measured pressure and the calculated helium flow rate. The energy loss, which is equivalent to the refrigeration capacity at the cold end of the ideal pulse tube refrigerator, was mainly generated through the orifice. It was proportional to the opening of the orifice valve, but the real refrigerator displayed the best performance at the optimized opening of the orifice valve. This optimized performance of the tested pulse tube refrigerator can be explained by additional refrigeration losses. As an example, the shuttle heat transfer loss of the pulse tube was calculated from the measured experimental data.

  • When the suction pressure of compressor decreases under its limit, the compression ratio is increased causing the malfunctions of compressor. As the method to decrease the compression ratio, hot gas bypass system is usually adopted in heat pump system. In the hot gas bypass system, the discharged gas from the compressor is bypassed into the compressor suction, which causes the increase of suction pressure and the decrease of compression ratio. In this study, the characteristics and performances of the hot gas bypass system in heat pump was investigated experimentally with a variation of the bypass flow rate ratio. With the increase of the bypass rate ratio, the compressor suction pressure was increased, even though the total capacity and COP was decreased. From the analysis of the experimental results, the optimum pressure control algorithm was suggested in this study.

  • The high-speed bypass effect on the heat exchanger performance has been investigated numerically. The plate-fin type heat exchanger was modeled using two-dimensional porous approximation for the fin region. Governing equations of mass, momentum, and energy equations for compressible turbulent flow were solved using ideal-gas assumption for the air flow. Various bypass-channel height were considered for Mach numbers ranging 0.25-0.65. Due to the existence of the fin in the bypass channel, the main flow tends to turn into the core region of the channel, which results in the distorted velocity profile downstream of the fin region. The boundary layer thickness, displacement thickness, and the momentum thickness showed the variation of mass flow through the fin region. The mass flow variation along the fin region was also shown for various bypass heights and Mach numbers. The volumetric entropy generation was used to assess the loss mechanism inside the bypass duct and the fin region. Finally, the correlations of the friction factor and the Colburn j-factor are summarized.

  • The present study discusses about the combustion and thermal flow characteristics of a G+R type incinerator, which is under construction for MAPO Incineration system, to evaluate the effects of various operating and design parameters. A bed combustion model is developed to simulate the waste bed combustion on the stoker. The effects of waste composition and primary air distribution are estimated. The results of the waste bed combustion model is applied to CFD(computational fluid dynamics) simulation, which simulates the detail of the thermal flow in the combustion chamber. The effects of bypass damper opening ratio, primary air distribution, and secondary air jet configuration are discussed.

  • 최근 많은 열에너지를 필요로 하는 열풍식 건조기 대신 에너지 효율이 높은 히트펌프 건조기가 제지, 섬유, 목재, 식품 등 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 냉동 농산물 건조 초기에 전기히터 사용을 최소화하여 에너지 효율을 높이고자, 압축기 출구 고온가스 우회 시스템에 대한 히트펌프 사이클 특성을 이론적으로 고찰하였다. 또한, 추가 열을 확보하기 위하여 외부공기 유입을 위한 댐퍼를 고려하였고 이의 최적화를 통해 에너지 효율 향상이 가능함을 보였다.

  • Recently, the performances of speed and accuracy are enhanced in machine tools. The high speed of the machine tools usually causes harmful thermal displacements on the objects. To reduce the thermal displacements, machine tools generally adopt oil coolers with precise temperature control function. This study aims at precise control of oil outlet temperature in the oil coolers with hot-gas bypass manner based on PI control logic. The control system was designed for obtaining steady state error within ${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$ and maximum overshoot with 0.8% even though abrupt disturbances are added to the system. We showed that the PI gains could be easily decided by numerical simulations using practical transfer function which got experiments. Also, transient characteristics could be improved significantly by reflecting the inlet temperature of an evaporator to the output of a controller feedforwardly considering periodic abrupt disturbances. Through some experiments, excellent control performances were established by the suggested control.
