Sea fog detection near Korea peninsula by using GMS-5 Satellite Data(A case study)

  • The aim of our study is to develop new algorism for sea fog detection by using Geostational Meteorological Satellite-5(GMS-5) and suggest the techniques of its continuous detection. So as to detect daytime sea fog/stratus(00UTC, May 10, 1999), visible accumulated histogram method and surface albedo method are used. The characteristic value during daytime showed A(min) > 20% and DA < 10% when visble accumulated histogram method was applied. And the sea fog region which detected is of similarity in composite image and surface albedo method. In case of nighttime sea fog(18UTC, May 10, 1999), infrared accumulated histogram method and maximum brightness temperature method are used, respectively. Maximum brightness temperature method(T_max method) detected sea fog better than IR accumulated histogram method. In case of T_max method, when infrared value is larger than T_max, fog is detected, where T_max is an unique value, maximum infrared value in each pixel during one month. Then T_max is beneath 700hpa temperature of GDAPS(Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System). Sea fog region which detected by T_max method was similar to the result of National Oceanic and Atmosheric Administration/Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (NOAA/AVHRR) DCD(Dual Channel Difference). But inland visibility and relative humidity didn't always agreed well.

Purification and Characterization of Protein Methylase II from Porcine Testis

  • Protein methylase II (S-adenosyl-L-methionine : protein O-methyl-transferase, EC 2.1.1.24; PM II) was purified approximately 1250-fold from porcine testis by fractional precipitation and DEAE-cellulose chromatography, followed by gel filtration on a Sephadex G-75 column and HPLC on a Protein Pak 125 column. The molecular weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 33,000 daltons by SDS-PAGE, which agreed with the value determined by gel filtration. Isoelectric focusing of purified PM II showed a single protein species with an isoelectric point of 6.2. The optimum pH for the reaction was 6.0. The $K_m$ value of the enzyme was $1{\times}10^{-5}M$ with a $V_{max}$ value of 769 pmol/min/mg of enzyme. S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine is a competitive inhibitor of PM II with a $K_i$ value of $1.38{\times}10^{-6}M$.

  • In this investigation x-ray diffraction method was mainly studied for quantitative analysis of clinker mineral composition. And also optical microscopic observation and Bogue calculation method were applied to compare with the x-ray diffraction method. In the procedure of x-ray diffraction analysis graphite monochromator automatic divergence slit and spinner for sample holder were used for minimizing the error due to the operation of the equipment. Especially the separation of overlapped peaks were proceeded by micro-processor automatically. The results of x-ray diffraction method for synthesized clinker were consistent with the Bogue value and the results of optical microscopic observation. However the results of quantitative analysis of mineral composition or commercial clinker containing solid solution of minor component were different from the Bogue value. On the other hand they agreed reasonably well with results of the optical mic-roscopic observation.

Performance limit of digital vibrometer using self-mixing type LDV

  • Recently, we proposed a compact digital vibrometer using a self-mixing laser Doppler velocimeter (SM-LDV). In this paper, we theoretically obtained formulas giving lower and upper limit of measurable velocity. In the prototype digital vibrometer, the theoretical value was 6.7mm/s and 162.8mm/s, respectively, which agreed well with the measured value. The upper limit of measurable displacement amplitude was 12OO.mu.m at 10Hz, and 250.mu.m at 100Hz. Furthermore, the measurement accuracy the displacement amplitude was within -3% and average error -1.3%, when the shape of the sawtooth contained in the Doppler beat signal is clear and sharp. The measurement accuracy is found to depend on a degree of sawtooth asymmetry (DSA).

  • In this paper, microstrip array antenna with the phase lock are designed to consist of main lobe and sidelobe with difference 21.97dB for sharp beam pattern using Tchebyscheff polynominals. Microstrip array antenna with phase lock of 0$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$ are designed, to scan beam for 0$^{\circ}$, 6$^{\circ}$, 12$^{\circ}$ to be 1:2:2:1 for the relative current distribution. The designed microstrip array antenna with phase lock is measured in terms of various characteristics such as return loss, resonant frequency, radiation pattern, bandwidth, beamwidth, and the measurement value and theoretical value agreed with each other. Also, the patch array antenna with the relative current distribution is presented phase shift for beam scanning.

  • In this study, J-integral values obtained by various methods, i.e, R-Curve, Unloading Compliance, Strectched Zone Width [SZW], and Acoustic Emission [AE] methods are investigated. Elasto-plastic fracture toughness [$J_IC$] estimations by R-curve method are overestimated than those by SZW method, and those by unloading compliance method is around middle value of them. And the difference between them is little. The $J_IC$ value by AE method was almost agreed with that by SZW, and then proved to be useful. Crack propagation mechanism on fractography is a stable ductile fracture. For the identification of ductile fracture, both fractography analysis and AE method were applied to estimate the characteristics more precisely.

  • There are a wide variety of semi-solid ointments used for healing the skin diseases, whose therapeutic and skin penetration abililties may greatly differ from one another depending on the compositions of ointment vehicles. A computer optimization technique was applied to obtain the optimum formula of o/w type ointment giving the in vitro maximum absorption rate through hairless rat skin membrane. Some of the formulations were selected to find out a relationship between skin penetration of ointment and its Theological characteristics. The experimental value of absorption rate obtained from the ointment by optimum formula agreed well with the theoretical value obtained from a polynomial regression analysis, Three kinds of ointments selected among 15 formulations were obtained with a concentric cylinder type rheometer (Model; Rheolab SM-HM Physica, Germany) at 20, 30, 40 and $50^{\circ}C$ for rheograms of rhelolgical properties of o/w type ointments. As the temperature was raised, all products showed a decrease in both shear stress and yield values. The higher skin penetration, the lower shear stress showed.

Development of a Plate-type Megasonic with Cooling Pins for Sliced Ingot Cleaning

  • In this article, a plate-type megasonic cleaning system with cooling pins is proposed for the sliced ingot, which is a raw material of silicon (Si) wafers. The megasonic system is operated with a lead zirconate titanate (PZT) actuator, which has high electric resistance, thus when it is being operated, it dissipates much heat. So this article proposes a megasonic system with cooling pins. In the design process, finite element analysis was performed and the results were used for the design of the waveguide. The frequency with the maximum impedance value was 998 kHz, which agreed well with the measured value of 997 kHz with 0.1 % error. Based on the results, the 1 MHz waveguide was fabricated. Acoustic pressures were measured, and analyzed. Finally, cleaning tests were performed, and 90 % particle removal efficiency (PRE) was achieved over 10 W power. These results imply that the developed 1 MHz megasonic will effectively clean sliced ingot wafer surfaces.

Gender occupational therapist who specializes in images for men, the value and worth, high practician was higher in women who were professional, the value and worth, helfer as high. 3. Theory of motivation based on the value of occupational therapists and rewarding images aptitude and interest, high practician, attractive, intellectual was in order. Entrance examination scores as a professional party, value & worth, abuse of authority ceremony was in order. 4. Image by Place of Practice Rehabilitation Hospital occupational therapist who specializes in, high practician, intellectual was in order. Care in the hospital and rewarding value, the professional character, high practician was in order. Hospital and rewarding the value, who specializes in, hepfer was in order. University Hospital who specializes in, the value and worth, Attractive was in order. Conclusion : It had revealed that occupational image perception of occupational therapy student was positive.

Comparison of Radiography Findings and Magnetic Resonance Image Findings of Lumbar Spine Instability Patients (요추 불안정 환자에서 단순방사선 소견과 자기공명영상 소견의 비교)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate how dose the radiography findings are to magnetic resonance (MR) image findings in the L5-S1 instability patients. The subjects of this study were comprised of eleven males and fifteen females, who had Lumbago and agreed with this research. Methods: Radiography and MR images of Lumbar spine were acquired respectively from subjects in conditions of maximum flexion and extension. The horizontal and angular displacements in lumabosacral spine radiography were used to assess the instability of lumbar spine. MR images were also used to evaluate the intervertebral disc abnormalities and change of bone marrow. Results: The results are as follows. 1. In the case of flexion transitional displacement proposed by Dupuis et al, the specificity and negative predictive value were good accuracy ($0.7{\sim}0.8$), and the negative predictive value was in average. In the case of extension displacement, the negative predictive value was about average ($0.6{\sim}0.7$), but the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value were below the poor (<0.6). On the other side, the specificity was about average but other things were below in the case of angular displacement. 2. In the case of flexion transitional displacement proposed by Dupuis et al., compared with the intervertebral disc abnormalities, the negative prediction value was excellent, the sensitivity good, and the specificity about average. In the case of extension, the negative prediction value was about average, but the other things were poor. On the other side the specificity and negative predictive value had good accuracy and the sensitivity and positive prediction value were below average in the case of angular displacement. Conclusion: The above results show that the radiography finding is sufficiently helpful to find the lumbar spine instability as an economic point of view.
