  • As time to market and rapid reaction to changes in demand is much required, agile software development methodologies whose characteristics are great adaptability and short iteration developments are getting more popular. Though there have been a number of literature suggesting the great potential of agile software development, some recent studies have also mentioned its limitations. We believe there remains much confusion as to whether agile approaches are good to introduce or not. In an effort to provide 'real' characteristics of agile development, this paper evaluates Scrum, one of the most used agile approaches, using a software measurement framework. It also presents a Scrum measurement case study of a web portal company. We believe this study will provide some concrete guidelines as to whether Scrum is worth, what are weak points, and how to control the agile process in order to get over the weakness.

  • Identifying knowledge as the single most important asset ultimately defining organizational competitiveness, enterprises are trying to move towards knowledge-oriented practices. Such practices have given rise to learning and agile organization, This paper presents applied information technologies to realize the learning and agile organization, focusing on systems thinking. Firstly, in order to establish a framework for the systems thinking, an information systems development method based on process chain is proposed. Then, an agent-based microworld simulation approach is presented. The approaches provide visible and analytical information to knowledge workers so that they can have systems thinking capabilities eventually. Various microworlds on the top of the information system can be constructed with agents and simulated for possible business events. All decision makings are dynamic in nature. To let knowledge workers look ahead the possible outcomes of the whole relevant processes is the core capability of the approaches. Through watching, the knowledge workers would be able to acquire new insights or problem solving knowledge for the problem in hand.

  • Various business model and computing environments are currently merged into web services and many web related application products are also develop. Most of IT enterprises in Korea use the Service-oriented architecture (SOA) whenever they develop the web applications. SOA is an approach to loosely coupled, protocol independent, standards-based distributed computing where software resources available on the network are considered as Services. SOA is believed to become the future enterprise technology solution that promises the agility and flexibility the business users have been looking for by leveraging the integration process through composition of the services spanning multiple enterprises. But, There are no specific development methodology to apply into SOA standard model until now. The developer uses the currently existing methodology to develop the application with SOA. The users have some limitations to use it. In this paper, we suggest a Frameworks for applying agile methodology into SOA to address the productivity and quality of small web related project. We design and implement a frameworks architecture for applying the agile method into SOA and describe the process model to implement it. We finally evaluate the frameworks with productivity, flexibility and maintainability.

  • In a competitive environment, systems design should be agile to accomplish business goal. However, there are often significant problems with systems design that is manifested in the fact that there are no current techniques to apply rigorous mathematics to semantic conveyance in the design framework. As a promising solution, this paper introduces situation theory (ST) and provides an application of ST for information flow in manufacturing systems design (IDEF0). The described work in this paper addresses the procedure of creation of IAST Model (Inf-Act On in Situation Theory) which is the first application of ST in engineering fields. Finally, we show that IAST Model is very helpful for effective information capturing in systems by comparison existing methodology with developed methodology as a practical application of ST.

  • To cope with the challenge of competitive market, manufacturing system needs to be agile in terms of its reconfigurability and scalability. For a system to be adapted to changed requirements, decision support tools such as configurator have to be provided. This paper introduces the basic framework of a configurator for assembly system Based on the factory data model(FDM) depicting the overall structure of a manufacturing system, functions of the configurator are described, i.e., requirements analysis, module selection and configuration optimization.

  • This paper presents a framework for decentralized control of self-organizing swarm agents based on the artificial potential functions (APFs). The framework explores the benefits by associating agents based on position information to realize complex swarming behaviors. A key development is the introduction of a set of association rules by APFs that effectively deal with a host of swarming issues such as flexible and agile formation. In particular, this paper presents an association rule for swarming that requires less movements for each agent and compact formation among agents. Extensive simulations are presented to illustrate the viability of the proposed framework.

The framework explores the benefits by associating agents based on position information to realize complex swarming behaviors. A key development is the introduction of a set of association rules by APFs that effectively deal with a host of swarming issues such as flexible and agile formation. In this scheme, multiple agents in a swarm self-organize to flock and achieve formation control through attractive and repulsive forces among themselves using APFs. In particular, this paper presents an association rule for swarming that requires less movement for each agent and compact formation among agents. Extensive simulations are presented to illustrate the viability of the proposed framework.

  • Nowadays, the trend in lunar exploration missions is shifting from prospecting lunar surface to utilizing in-situ resources and establishing sustainable bridgehead. In the past, experiments were mainly focused on rover maneuvers and equipment operations. But the current shift in trend requires more complex experiments that includes preparations for resource extraction, space construction and even space agriculture. To achieve that, the experiment requires a sophisticated simulation of the lunar environment, but we are not yet prepared for this. Particularly, in the case of lunar regolith simulants, precise physical and chemical composition with a rapid development speed rate that allows different terrains to be simulated is required. However, existing lunar regolith simulants, designed for 20th-century exploration paradigms, are not sufficient to meet the requirements of modern space exploration. In order to prepare for the latest trends in space exploration, it is necessary to innovate the methodology for producing simulants. In this study, the basic framework for lunar regolith simulant development was established to realize this goal. The framework not only has a sample database and a database of potential simulation target compositions, but also has a built-in function to automatically calculate the optimal material mixing ratio through the particle swarm optimization algorithm to reproduce the target simulation, enabling fast and accurate simulant development. Using this framework, we anticipate a more agile response to the evolving needs toward simulants for space exploration.

  • Agile development is mentioned a lot by developers these days. XP or Scrum is one of the popular development processes, and it says that unit test automation would drive an agile development successful. The success of unit test automation depends on how well to compare an execution result to its own expected result. that is why this paper focuses on the comparison part. This paper introduces how to build test codes for unit testing, and then concludes with mentioning two considerations of unit testing automation. First, test codes for void-typed methods need Mock Framework to monitor their behavior. Second, the comparison of execution results and expected results is hard to implement in case of testing void-typed methods. We check every sentences of a test path to decide if the testing is fail or pass.

  • Individuals majoring in Library and Information Science (LIS) typically find employment in the library sector, such as working as librarians, university librarians, and in public libraries. Recent advancements in information technology and shifts in work outlooks have broadened the professional opportunities for students majoring in LIS in several sectors. Research on career exploration varies based on the university major or occupation. This paper suggests a methodology for conducting surveys and analyzing data efficiently to support ongoing career exploration for students majoring in LIS. It also examines the findings of a career exploration survey conducted among LIS majors. The survey findings indicate that individuals majoring in LIS are adapting their salary expectations and priorities in alignment with societal shifts, showing a preference for diverse career opportunities outside traditional librarian roles. Effective support and ongoing research are essential for the career development of LIS majors in this environment.
