알루미늄 합금과 그 접합 방법 (Aluminum alloys and their joining methods)

  • Aluminum (Al) and its alloys have been used widely in a variety of industries such as structural, electronic, aerospace, and particularly automotive industries due to their lightweight characteristic, outstanding ductility, formability, high oxidation and corrosion resistance, and high thermal and electrical conductivity. Al have different kinds of alloys according to the various additional elements system and they should be selected properly depending on their effectiveness and suitability for their particular purpose. The major elements for Al alloys are silicon (Si), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn). In order for Al alloys to use for each industry, it is necessary to study of Al to Al joining and/or the Al to dissimilar materials joining to combine the individual parts into one. Many studies on joining technologies about Al to Al and Al to dissimilar materials have been performed such as press joining, bolted joint, welding, soldering, riveting, adhesive bonding, and brazing. This study reviews a variety of Al alloys and their joining method including its principles and properties with recent trends.

A comparative study on wear property of WC-CoCr and WC-CrC-Ni coatingssprayed by HVOF

  • High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying coating has been used widely throughout the last 60 years mainly in defense, aerospace, and power plants. Recently this coating technique is considered as a promising candidate for the replacement of the traditional electrolytic hard chrome plating (EHC) which pollutes the environment and causes lung cancer by toxic hexa-valent $Cr^{6+}$. In this study, two kinds of cermet coatings, WC-CoCr and WC-CrC-Ni, are formed by HVOF spraying. The wear properties of coatings are evaluated comparatively by reciprocating sliding wear tests at $25^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$ and $450^{\circ}C$ respectively. Wear rates show that WC-CoCr coatings have better sliding wear resistance than WC-CrC-Ni coatings regardless of temperature due to more, compact and homogeneously distributed WC particles, less metal content, Co, Cr rich metallic bindermatrix with higher fracture strength and better adhesive strength with WC particles.

항공기용 연료탱크 Phase I 충돌충격시험 충격하중 분석 (Analysis of Crash Load in Crash Impact Test for Fuel Tank of Rotorcraft)

  • 연료탱크 충돌충격시험은 연료탱크의 내충격 성능을 검증하는 시험으로, 충돌충격시험을 통과한 연료탱크는 생존가능 충돌환경에서 화재가 발생하지 않아 승무원의 생존성이 대폭 향상될 수 있음을 의미한다. 그러나, 충돌충격시험은 높은 충격하중 때문에 실패 위험성이 큰 시험이다. 만약, 충돌충격시험을 실패할 경우에는 설계보완 및 시편 재제작 등으로 재시험 준비 기간이 상당히 소요되어 항공기 개발일정에 상당한 지장을 초래하게 된다. 따라서, 연료탱크 설계 초기에 충돌충격시험에 대한 수치해석을 수행함으로써 실물시험에서의 실패 가능성을 최소화하는 노력이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 충돌모사 프로그램인 LS-DYNA에서 지원하는 입자법을 사용하여 Phase I 인증시험의 연료탱크 충돌충격시험 수치모사를 수행하였다. 수치해석 조건으로 미군사규격(MIL-DTL-27422)에서 요구하는 시험조건을 반영하였고, 실물 연료탱크 소재의 시편시험을 통해 확보한 물성 데이타를 수치 해석에 적용하였다. 그 결과로 연료탱크 소재와 중첩부위, 피팅 부위에 작용하는 충격하중을 분석함으로써, 연료탱크 설계시 접착강도와 중첩범위 결정을 위한 설계하중 획득 가능성을 타진하였다.

고댐핑 요크 구조 적용 대형 태양전지판의 수동형 제진에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Passive Vibration Control of Large Scale Solar Array with High Damping Yoke Structure)

  • 최근 인공위성 임무 고도화에 따라 고성능의 전장품이 탑재되어 시스템 소요전력이 증가되고 있다. 이에 따라 충분한 전력확보를 위하여 태양전지판 크기 또한 점차 증가하고 있다. 태양전지판의 크기 증가 및 중량화는 위성체 자세 기동 시 발생하는 진동과의 커플링 등에 의해 태양전지판 탄성 진동의 크기 증가를 유발한다. 상기 진동은 힌지 및 요크를 통해 위성체에 전달되어 지향성능이 요구되는 고정밀 관측위성의 지향성능과 직결되어 고해상도 영상 획득 임무 성능을 저하시킨다. 종래에는 태양전지판의 탄성 진동을 저감시키고자 고강도 설계에 집중 또는 별도의 보강재 및 댐퍼 시스템을 적용하였다. 그러나, 이는 부피 및 무게를 증가시키며 시스템 복잡성이 증가하는 한계점이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 상기 한계점을 극복하고자 초탄성 형상기억합금(SMA: Shape Memory Alloy) 양면에 점탄성 테이프로 박막층을 적층함으로써 댐핑 특성을 극대화하였으며, 별도 시스템 적용없이 작은 부피 및 무게로 진동을 저감하여 시스템 경량화에 기여할 수 있는 설계기법을 제안하였다. 제안한 초탄성 SMA 적층형 태양전지판 요크를 태양전지판 더미에 적용시켜 자유감쇠시험 및 온도시험을 통해 설계 유효성을 입증하였다.

대기압/진공 조건의 트라이보 시험기를 이용한 박막 코팅의 마찰/마모 특성 비교 (Comparison of Friction and Wear Characteristics of Thin Film Coatings Using Tribotesters at Atmospheric/Vacuum Conditions)

  • In various industries, thin film coatings are used to improve friction and wear characteristics. Various types of tribotesters are used to evaluate the friction and wear characteristics of such thin film coatings. In this study, we fabricated a micro-tribotester and Tribo-scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to compare the friction and wear characteristics of copper (Cu) coatings under an atmospheric pressure and a vacuum condition, respectively. The reliability of the different types of tribotesters was evaluated by performing calibrations for the sensor to measure the friction forces and normal loads. Using the two different types of devices, the friction and wear tests are conducted at the same experimental conditions excluding environment conditions such as the atmospheric pressure and vacuum condition. The friction coefficient at the vacuum condition is lower than at the atmospheric pressure. This difference in friction characteristics is due to the fact that wear phenomena occur differently according to the atmospheric pressure and vacuum condition. At the atmospheric pressure, the abrasive wear is the main wear mechanism. At the vacuum condition, the adhesive wear is the main wear mechanism. The reason for the difference in the wear mechanism of the Cu coating at the atmospheric pressure and the vacuum condition is that the oxidation phenomenon, which does not appear at the vacuum condition, occurs at the atmospheric pressure; therefore, the characteristics of the Cu coating change accordingly.

C-N코팅 SCM415강의 마찰$\cdot$마모 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the friction and Wear Characteristics of C-N Coated SCM415 Steel)

  • This study deals with the friction and wear characteristics of C-N coated SCM415 steel. The PSII(plasma source ion implantation) apparatus was built and a SCM415 test piece with steel substrate was treated with carbon nitrogen by this apparatus. The composition and structure of the surface layer were analyzed and compared with that of PVD(physical vapor decomposition) coated TiN layer. It was found that both of friction coefficient of C-N coating and TiN coating decreased with increasing load, however, C-N coating showed relatively lower faction coefficient than that of TiN coating. The micro-vickers hardness of C-N film is 3200 Hv, which is $32\~43\%$ higher than that of TiN film. The critical load of C-N film is 52N, which is $25\%$ higher than that of TiN film. The hardness of C-N film fabricated by Plasma ion implantation is $61\~70\%$ higher than that of base material, and faction coefficient is $14\~50\%$ lower than that of base material. It is also interesting to note that the friction was changed from adhesive wear mode to light oxidizing wear mode.
