Symmetric and Asymmetric Approaches to Money Demand Determination in Indonesia: Is Divisia Money Relevant?

  • This study aims to examine whether symmetric effects or asymmetric effects of exchange rates exist in determining the money demand in Indonesia. Simple-sum money and Divisia money were included in different models for comparison due to the financial developments in Indonesia. This study uses time-series data from 1996Q1 to 2019Q4 for the estimation. The nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) model is utilized to verify the asymmetric effects of exchange rates on money demand. The Augmented Dickey-Fuller and Phillips-Perron unit root tests were performed to verify the order of integration of the variables. The findings of this study revealed that the exchange rate is one of the most important determinants of money demand in Indonesia and the effect is asymmetric. The findings further indicated that money demand function, which incorporates Divisia monetary aggregate is parsimonious. Monetary targets such as money supply and interest rates are critical for monetary policy conduct to achieve inflation levels set by government. As the adoption of an inflation targeting framework needs to be in keeping with the flexible exchange rate system, the asymmetric effect of exchange rate changes can be used in exchange rate policy conduct to achieve financial system and price stability.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze potential adoption rates and reusing patterns of the new rice direct seeding technology. The model constructed and employed in this study is a system dynamics model of farmer adoption and reusing patterns for this new technology over time. The model incorporates a causal loop diagram that explains interactions among rice cultivation subsystems with feedback loops and further attempts to build a causal loop model with stock-flow diagram for computer simulation. As one example of how the model can be used to provide insight to rice farmers, simulations are run over varying levels on the cultivation process of rice. The major finding is to demonstrate the utility of system dynamics simulation methodology in aiding the rice wet direct seeding farmers' decision making.

건축행정시스템의 단계적 BIM 도입 범위 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ranging of Phased BIM Introduction Into the Architectural Information System)

  • 본 연구는 국내외 건축행정시스템 실태 및 관계법령을 검토하고, 건축서비스산업 실태를 분석하여 건축행정시스템의 단계적 BIM 도입 범위를 제안하였다. 국내외에서 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입은 대체로 미진한 상황이고 싱가포르만이 별도의 BIM 제출 서비스를 제공하는 등 선도적으로 BIM을 도입하고 있다. BIM 적용 대상 건축물에 대한 기준은 건축인허가 절차와 연속되도록 하는 것이 바람직하므로 관련법에서 규정하는 건축물의 규모 및 종류를 분석하여 단계적 도입 범위를 설정하였다. 각 범위에 포함되는 건축물 설계의 건축사사무소 규모별 참여비율을 분석한 결과 건축물의 층수와 연면적이 증가할수록 소규모 건축사사무소의 설계 수행 비율은 감소하고 대규모 건축사사무소의 비율은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. BIM 도입이 대규모 건축사사무소 위주로 진행되고 있으므로 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입은 대규모 건축물부터 점차 작은 규모의 건축물로 단계적으로 확산해 나가는 것이 바람직하다. 최종적으로 본 연구는 건축행정시스템의 BIM 도입을 6단계로 나누고 건축행정절차에 따라 세분한 BIM의 활성화 및 연착륙을 유도하는 로드맵을 수립하였다.

개봉 규모와 수익성에 따른 영화의 분류와 확산 패턴 분석 (Identifying the Diffusion Patterns of Movies by Opening Strength and Profitability)

  • Motion picture industry is one of the most representative fields in the cultural industry and has experienced constant growth both worldwide and within domestic markets. However, little research has been undertaken for diffusion patterns of motion pictures, whereas various issues such as demand forecasting and success factor analysis have been widely explored. To analyze diffusion patterns, we adopted extended Bass model to reflect the potential demand of movies. Four clusters of selected movies were derived by k-means clustering method with criteria of opening strength and profitability and then compared by their diffusion patterns. Results indicated that movies with high profitability and medium opening strength are most significantly influenced by word of mouth effect, while low profitability movies display nearly monotonic decreasing diffusion patterns with noticeable initial adoption rates and relatively early peak points in their runs.

Group-Performance Based Pay of Publicly Traded Companies and Its Association with Value Added Productivity per Employee

  • This study surveyed 152 publicly traded companies to investigate group-performance based pay practices and its impacts on labor productivity. Compared a benchmark survey from Department of Labor, those companies show higher introduction rates, especially in small-to-medium sized companies. They also tend to pay profit-sharing bonus more in the form of company stocks and differentiate individual bonuses more by department performance than individual performance. The impact of group-performance based pay on labor productivity is positive and statistically significant. Economic value added per person in those companies adopting group-performance based pay tends to be higher and increases with the coverage of employees under the pay plan. It also reveals that the years after the play adoption are negatively associated with labor productivity.

  • Aiming at solving the problems associated with existing wireless paging systems, this paper proposed a 4W1H+L+PI concept to context-aware information structure, based on which, a new wireless paging system named 119 system is developed under ubiquitous environment. Bemuse of the adoption of RFID tags in the wireless paging system, hazard and malfunction rates are reduced, thus accuracy is guaranteed. Besides, response time is shortened comparing with existing systems. In the future, if emergency aid information system can be implemented under the ubiquitous computing environment combined with sensor network, then aid service of good quality will be provided.

평행류 열교환기가 적용된 무선통신 중계기 냉각용 슬림형 공조기 (Slim Air-Conditioner with Parallel Flow Heat Exchangers for Cooling of Telecommunication Cabinet)

  • Slim telecommunication cabinet cooler, equipped with parallel flow heat exchangers and operating with R-22, is developed. The performance is compared with imported one, equipped with fin-tube heat exchangers and operating with R-134a. Test results show that the newly-developed cooler increases the cooling capacity by 6% and EER by 33%. The refrigerant charge for the developed cooler is 500g compared with 1250g for the imported one. The adoption of parallel flow heat exchanger appears to have reduced the refrigerant charge. In addition, it is shown that the reduced air flow rates through parallel heat exchangers as compared with those through fin-tube heat exchangers are beneficial to the reduction of the equipment noise.

  • This study aims to analyze the correlation between semiconductor innovation and market dominance in the mobility electric vehicle industry. To this end, the study presentsstrategiesthat provide low-price competitiveness along with high-value creation in the electric vehicle and semiconductor markets. The first change in the era of high interest rates is to overcome the crisis of survival for value. Furthermore, the study acknowledges the ongoing second wave of change as the digital technology's value continues to rise, and companies experience decreased productivity due to rising ESG labor costs. The study analyzed price competitiveness in the context of the increased adoption of electric vehicles and the integration of semiconductor prices, proving that Tesla and Samsung Semiconductor have developed technology to dominate the market, with appropriate low-cost strategies applied as the value of innovation declines.

How to achieve the critical view of safety for safe laparoscopic cholecystectomy: Technical aspects

  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is associated with a higher incidence of biliary/vasculobiliary injuries than open cholecystectomy. Anatomical misperception is the most common underlying mechanism of such injuries. Although a number of strategies have been described to prevent these injuries, critical view of safety method of structural identification seems to be the most effective preventive measure. The critical view of safety can be achieved in the majority of cases during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It is highly recommended by various guidelines. However, its poor understanding and low adoption rates among practicing surgeons have been global problems. Educational intervention and increasing awareness about the critical view of safety can increase its penetration in routine surgical practice. In this article, a technique of achieving critical view of safety during laparoscopic cholecystectomy is described with the aim to enhance its understanding among general surgery trainees and practicing general surgeons.

Enhancing Malware Detection with TabNetClassifier: A SMOTE-based Approach

  • Malware detection has become increasingly critical with the proliferation of end devices. To improve detection rates and efficiency, the research focus in malware detection has shifted towards leveraging machine learning and deep learning approaches. This shift is particularly relevant in the context of the widespread adoption of end devices, including smartphones, Internet of Things devices, and personal computers. Machine learning techniques are employed to train models on extensive datasets and evaluate various features, while deep learning algorithms have been extensively utilized to achieve these objectives. In this research, we introduce TabNet, a novel architecture designed for deep learning with tabular data, specifically tailored for enhancing malware detection techniques. Furthermore, the Synthetic Minority Over-Sampling Technique is utilized in this work to counteract the challenges posed by imbalanced datasets in machine learning. SMOTE efficiently balances class distributions, thereby improving model performance and classification accuracy. Our study demonstrates that SMOTE can effectively neutralize class imbalance bias, resulting in more dependable and precise machine learning models.
