  • Objectives: According to the Korea Education Development Institute, the college admission quota is expected to exceed the number of high school graduates, leading to an anticipated expansion in the gap between them. This paper aims to conduct an empirical analysis of the variables previously studied, with a specific focus on the admission competition rate for the department of dental hygiene. Methods: The research methodology is the multiple linear regression analysis. The research data contains the structured data from academy information, and the web-based unstructured data collected over the past 3 years. Results: After conducting the analysis, it was newly discovered that the university's online recognition and its location in the metropolitan area were statistically significant factors influencing the admission competition rate for the department of dental hygiene. Conclusions: The findings of this study are expected to be helpful in formulating admission strategies for universities to attract new students and identifying the factors that influence student attraction.

  • This study The study analyzed the effect of the advertisement method of admission at Korea Polytechnic University on the competition rate for entrance to university. A total of 66 questionnaires were analyzed among freshmen and undergraduates at Korea Polytechnic University in Seoul. The first study revealed that the ground promotion (p<.01, ${\beta}=.363$) had an effect on the competition rate, with the ground promotion having a statistical effect on the competition rate and therefore having a significant competitive edge. Second, it was analyzed that the ground promotion and registration rates were correlated to the $p{\times}.01$ level with the. 297 level of media promotion and registration rates. Third, although the motivation for knowing the junior high school records and the Korean Polytechnic University did not significantly affect the registration rates, it was found that there were group differences because the admission patterns were higher than usual on time. This study analyzes the effect of the admission promotion method on the competition rate of the university, identifying the importance of ground advertisement, media promotion to the competition rate and registration rate, and identifying the effectiveness of characteristic factors.

  • Objectives: As the school-age population continues to decline in Korea, the consolidation and abolition of departments continues with the economic logic. This study aimed to analyze the relative competitiveness of the department of dental hygiene and to investigate the effectiveness of the YouTube platform being used to promote admission. Methods: Using the admission result data provided by the Korea council for university education, the new student competition rate and recruitment rate of the department of dental hygiene were compared with those of the departments of natural sciences and all other departments. Also, the effect of YouTube channel operation on them was analyzed. Results: The department of dental hygiene showed a slight advantage but it was not particularly the case compared to other departments of natural sciences. The promotion using YouTube did not have any significant effects. Conclusions: Considering that the school-age population will rapidly decrease in the future, more active strategies are needed.

  • This study is to grasp a trend of profitability classified by characteristics of hospitals and to analyze related factors. Subjects are 145 hospitals which have gotten the standardization audit by Korean Hospital Association during 1998-200l. Profitability was measured in the aspect of operation profit rate with operating margin to gross revenue as proxy variables. Independent variables were classified by general factors (ownership, number of beds, period of establishment, competition), financial factors (liabilities to total assets, current ratio, fixed ratio, total asset turnover, inventories turnover), and factors related to patient treatment (average length of stay, bed occupancy rate, new outpatient ratio, admission ratio of outpatients, number of patients per specialist, personnel costs per adjusted inpatient, administrative costs per adjusted inpatient). Hierarchical multiple regression analysis model was used in this study. As a result of hierarchical multiple regression analyzation of operating margin to gross revenue, adjustive $R^2$ of general factors was relatively more powerful. The factors had significant effect on operating margin to gross revenue were ownership(+), number of beds(+), competition(+), current ratio(+), fixed ratio(+), total asset turnover(+), personnel costs per adjusted inpatient(-).

  • This study observes the difference in the actual regional ripple effect of the decrease in admission resources due to the decrease in school age population, which has been weak in empirical studies, and how much the decrease in competition rate by department nationwide provides a significant shock to the decrease in enrollment rate in the population unit. An empirical quantitative analysis was attempted. As a result of applying the panel-tobit regression model, a clear gap was confirmed in the decrease in the registration rate due to the decrease in the competition rate both nationally and in the provinces, and in particular, a highly significant relationship was derived with the decrease in the recruitment rate. In particular, the sensitivity of the risk of unrecruitment due to a decrease in competition rate was the highest in the Jeolla region (0.499), followed by the Gangwon region (0.475) and the Gyeongsang region (0.471), and the metropolitan region (0.158) was confirmed to be the most stable. This suggests that the gap in insufficient funding has gradually widened by region over the past 10 years, and that the shock wave becomes more pronounced in the provinces farther away from the metropolitan area. Based on this study, if we deviate from the standardized application of university development policies for the metropolitan area and regional universities, and present a customized higher education strategy for each region, it will be an opportunity to prevent local extinction due to a decrease in the school-age population and achieve coexistence with higher education institutions and regions at the same time.

  • Today, as the number of applicants for admission decreases, competition among universities is deepening in Korea. Especially, the existence of local universities has led to intense competition to increase the enrollment rate of new students and reduce dropout rate. To survive in this competition, local universities are making various efforts; however, the primary problem is improving their educational service quality. In this study, we have developed a device to measure educational service quality which can be applied to the field of higher education, and factors that determine educational service quality are dragged through this device. In addition, this research identifies which statistically significant factors play a part in overall satisfaction and word of mouth effect, and interprets 29 quality attributes using importance-satisfaction transformed index.

  • In line with the recent job insecurity, the preference for teaching jobs has been increasing for private and educational colleges. However, the T.O., announced by the Ministry of Education in tandem with the decreasing number of people, is decreasing every year, while the competition rate is rising steeply due to the increase in the number of students. As a result, the university is becoming a huge hagwon for teacher-nominee competitive tests as it tries to concentrate on the recruitment exam at the same time as entering the university. In this study, we will present a blueprint for school life to students enrolled in private universities by identifying the connection between the overall use of school life and study groups by students using deep learning.

  • During the period of rapid industrial growth, specialized high schools were important vocational education institutions trained specialists and technicians. But now, specialized high schools turned into high schools where the low-ranking students who were pushed out of the competition for admission due to a decline in the education population, changes mostly in labor demand in the labor market, and discrimination against skilled workers. In order to solve this problem, the middle school 3rd grade teachers in charge of the middle school can provide early career guidance, so that they can decide to go to the specialized high school according to their aptitude and talent rather than their grades. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between general characteristics and perception of middle school 3rd grade teachers, and the rate of decision to enter specialized high school. In 2018, The middle school 3rd grade teachers in charge in Daejeon metropolitan city were selected. The results of this study were as follows: When 3rd grade teachers in charge are the male teachers 21.01%(M=.2101) of their students go to specialized high schools. When they are teachers who have not graduated from college of education(M=.2110), with doctoral degree(M=0.3064), of their students go to specialized hight schools. Finally, there was a significant positive relationship between perceptions of high school teachers (β1 = .245, p = .000) and high school graduates (β2 = .149, p = .027). The regression equation derived from this is y = -0.56 + 0.037 * β1 + 0.025 * β2 10.1% (R2 = 0.101).
