Net Interest Margin and Return on Assets: A Case Study in Indonesia

  • The study aims to examine and analyze the factors that affect the return on assets (ROA) by placing net interest margin (NIM) as a moderating variable in influencing ROA. This research was conducted on 27 banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2015 to 2018 with a total sample data of 91. The data used is a combination of time series data and cross-section data. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used was path analysis with multiple regression analysis technique. The results of the analysis showed that the capital adequacy ratio (CAR) and loan to deposit ratio (LDR) have a positive but insignificant effect on ROA. NIM as a moderating variable does not influence the impact of CAR on ROA. However, NIM as a moderating variable is able to influence the impact of LDR on ROA. From the results of this study, it is evident that the LDR will increase the ROA at banks that generate high NIM.

한국 전력시장에서의 가스터빈(GT) 발전기 경쟁력 및 시장 미진입 적정성 분석 (Analysis of Gas Turbine Competitiveness and Adequacy of Electricity Market Signal in Korea)

  • This study analyzed competition in peak load plants between CCGT and GT instead of competition between base and peak load plants like in previous studies. In common overseas power markets, CCGT and GT claim certain market shares as peak load plants with the latter boasting a high utilization rate as reserve plants. In South Korea, however, there has been no introduction of GT in the market that opened in 2001 with no analysis cases of GT's economy as a peak load plant. The current power market of South Korea is run on the cost-based pool, which allows for no price spikes. Since the capacity payment criteria for compensations for missing money are set based on GT generators, the power market uses GT generators as marginal plants. The purposes of this study were to analyze the competitive edge of GT generators as peak load plants in the domestic power market of South Korea and identify the causes of GT's failure in market entry, thus assessing the adequacy of market signals in the domestic power market.

이동식 목욕차량의 조립시스템에 대한 시뮬레이션 분석 (A Simulation Analysis on the Assembly System of Mobile Bath Vehicles)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the adequacy of production capacity of the assembly process system of mobile bath vehicle's top box panel and process design through a simulation analysis. Towards this end, the layout of the facility designed with pre-verification job using a simulation modeling and an experiment, and facility, logistics process, and personnel input method were made into a simulation model, and the design system's adequacy was evaluated through an experiment. To produce 120 mobile bath vehicles annually, it was analyzed that 14 general workers and seven skilled workers were adequate through the experiment. It was also identified that three painting process lines carried out through outsourcing were adequate. Production lead time was 201.7 hours on average and it was 230 hours maximum. To meet customer delivery service level of 95% within the deadline when establishing a customer order and vehicle delivery plan, it was analyzed that more than 215 hours of lead time is needed minimum. If the process cycle time is reduced to 85% upon system stabilization and skillfulness improvement, it was analyzed that annual output of 147 vehicles can be achieved without additional production line expansion.

Macroeconomic and Bank-Specific Variables and the Liquidity of Jordanian Commercial Banks

  • This study aimed to explore the impact of macroeconomic (Real GDP growth (GDPG), Inflation rate (INF)) and bank -specific variables (profitability (ROA), capital adequacy (CADEQ), non-performing loans (NPL), deposit growth (DEPG)) on the liquidity (lIQ) of 13 listed Jordanian commercial banks for the period 2011-2018. Panel data analysis, Pooled least square, fixed effects model and random effects model, Lagrange multiplier test, and Hausman test were used. The random effects model output shows that, macroeconomic variables have a significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity since inflation has a positive impact while GDPG has a negative impact on banks (LIQ). On the other hand among the bank-specific variables capital adequacy and deposit growth have a positive significant impact on banks (LIQ), while (NPL) and (SIZE) have a negative significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity. But ROA has a negative insignificant impact on (LIQ). The findings of the study suggest that commercial banks departments need to pay attention to the economic and internal variables of banks in order to maintain acceptable levels of liquidity.

막응력과 휨을 고려한 RC 쉘의 설계와 극한거동 (Combined membrane and flexural reinforcement design in RC shells and ultimate behavior)

  • An iterative numerical computational algorithm is presented to design a plate of shell element subjected to membrane and flexural forces. Based on equilibrium consideration, equations for capacities of top and bottom reinforcements in two orthogonal directions have been derived. The amount of reinforcement is determined locally, i. e., for each sampling point, from the equilibrium between applied and internal forces. One case of design is performed for a hyperbolic paraboloid saddle shell (originally used by Lin and Scordelis) to check the design strength against a consistent design load, therefore, to verify the adequacy of design practice for reinforced concrete shells. Based on nonlinear analyses performed, the analytically calculated ultimate load exceeded the design ultimate load from 14-43% for an analysis with relatively low to high tension stiffening, ${\gamma}$ =5~20 cases. For these cases, the design method gives a lower bound on the ultimate load with respect to Lower bound theorem. This shows the adequacy of the current practice at least for this saddle shell case studied. To generalize the conclusion many more designs-analyses are performed with different shell configurations.

풍력발전단지간 풍속의 연관관계를 반영한 확률적 풍속 샘플링 방법 (A Probabilistic Sampling Method for Wind-Speed Considering the Wind-Speed Correlation between Wind-farms)

  • The wind-speeds among geographically close wind-farms have high correlations seasonally. This paper presents a novel wind-speed sampling method which sincerely reflects the correlation among wind-speeds of different wind-farms. In the proposed method, the wind-speed samples are generated through the statistical data analysis of the measured past wind-speed data and are adequate to be applied to generation adequacy assessment based on random sampling. In the proposed method, the specific probability distribution need not to be assumed and sufficiently accurate wind-speed samples can be generated based only on the measured past data. The proposed method is applied to the two wind-farm problem to show its applicability.

미혼 직장인의 여가활동참여와 여가만족 - 부산시를 중심으로 - (The Leisure Participation and Leisure Satisfaction of Single Working People)

  • The purpose of this study was to empirically verify the influence of variables on leisure participation and leisure satisfaction of single working people and the relative contribution of individual leisure participation and family leisure participation. The subject of this study were 176 single working people in Pusan and interviewed with a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS/PC+ program for the frequency, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach'$\alpha$, factor analysis and regression. The major results of this study were as follows : 1. The score of family leisure participation were higher than individual leisure participation. The Level of leisure satisfaction was relatively high. 2. Variables that affect the leisure participation were job, degree of information using and perception level of the adequacy of household income. 3. Variables that affect leisure satisfaction were perception level of the adequacy of household income and individual leisure participation.

Analysis of U.S. Pension Plans and Participants′ Behavior

  • This paper first introduces the U. S. pension system and its current trends. Then the following two sections discuss the research on worker behavior of defined contribution plans, a popular pension plan available for American workers in recent years, and the adequacy of retirement income among American people. The last section is a summary. This paper reviews the trend of the U. S. pension system, research on worker's behavior of defined contribution retirement plans, and studies on retirement income adequacy. These themes may have common or different features in other countries, such as Korea. This paper provides helpful information for private and public policy makers and researchers of these topics in Korea to advance their understanding of pension and retirement behavior and facilitate effective policy making of pensions and retirement.

수용가 전사변동의 개선을 위한 배전선로의 적정성해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Adequacy Analysis of Distribution Line Drop for Improvement of Consumer Voltage Fluctuation)

  • In this paper, a reliable and convenient evaluation method for the adequacy of any radial distribution line's voltage drop is proposed for improvement of the voltage regulation of the distribution line under operation. Using the voltage measurement of the first load branch point and the last point on the given distribution line its average line voltage drop and the line voltage drop variance by pure load variation are computed. And by these values and allowable or required line drop from proper voltage regulation view point, present adequency index and operation improvement index of the line drop are newly introduced for the evaluation of the given distribution line's voltage regulation. As a result of application to the 4 cases of study, the proposed method is proved to be reliable and convenient.

基于汉语语料库的中韩词典词汇释义的准确性研究 - 以D3H1区的词汇为中心

  • The dictionary is the most important tool for every Chinese learner to confirm the meaning and usage of words. Therefore, accuracy of headword's interpretation in the dictionary is crucial. This study aims to discuss the accuracy and the adequacy of headwords' interpretation in the Chinese-Korean dictionary through the Chinese corpus and Baidu. The scope of this study are 3000 words in the D3H1 region. According to the research results, the main problems of the vocabulary in this region can be divided into three categories: the first is the problem of lexical interpretation, the second is the problem of missing interpretation, and the third is other problems. In the D3H1 area, there are a total of 719 low-frequency vocabularies, and 54 headword's interpretations are not accurate or appropriate. This study is a detailed investigation and analysis of the problems of these 54 vocabularies.
