  • This paper presents a control method for the experimental mobile vehicle. By merging the advantages of neural network, adaptive and fuzzy control, neural network-based adaptive fuzzy control is proposed. It can deal with a large amount of training data by neural network, from these data producing more accurate fuzzy rules by adaptive control, and then controlling the object by fuzzy control. This is not the simple combination of the three methods, but merging them into one control system Experiments and some future considerations are given.

  • In the paper a robust indirect adaptive fuzzy controller is proposed for balancing and position control of the inverted pendulum system. Because balancing control rules of the pendulum and position control rules of the cart can be opposite, it is difficult to design an adaptive fuzzy controller that satisfy both objectives. To stabilize the pendulum at a specified position, the proposed fuzzy controller consists of a robust indirect adaptive fuzzy controller for balancing and a supervisory fuzzy controller which emulates heuristic control strategy and arbitrate two control objectives. It is proved that the signals in the overall system are bounded. Simulation results are given to verify the proposed adaptive fuzzy control method.

  • An adaptive fuzzy system can efficiently classify subimages into four categories according to image activity level for image data compression. The system estimates fuzzy rules by clustering input-output data generated from a given adaptive transform image coding process. The system encodes different images without modification and reduces side information when encoding multiple images. In the second part, a fuzzy system estimates optimal bit maps for the four subimage classes in noisy channels assuming a Gauss-Markov image model. The fuzzy systems respectively estimate the sampled subimage classification and the bit-allocation processes without a mathematical model of how outputs depend on inputs and without rules articulated by experts.

  • An adaptive fuzzy controller is constructed from a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules whose parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation law for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a given trajectory. Adaptive fuzzy controller of this paper is designed based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach The adaptive fuzzy controller is designed through the following steps: first, construct an initial controller based on linguistic descriptions(in the form of fuzzy IF-THEN rules) about the unknown plant from human experts; then, develop an adaptation law to adjust the parameters of the fuzzy controller on-line, the adaptive fuzzy controllers are used to control the inverted pendulum to track a given trajectory.

  • One of the methods to simplify the design process for a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is to reduce the number of variables representing the rule antecedent. This in turn decreases the number of control rules, membership functions, and scaling factors. For this purpose, we designed a single-input FLC that uses a sole fuzzy input variable. However, it is still deficient in the capability of adapting some varying operating conditions although it provides a simple method for the design of FLC's. We here design two simple-structured adaptive fuzzy logic controllers (SAFLC's) using the concept of the single-input FLC. Linguistic fuzzy control rules are directly incorporated into the controller by a fuzzy basis function. Thus some parameters of the membership functions characterizing the linguistic terms of the fuzzy control rules can be adjusted by an adaptive law. In our controllers, center values of fuzzy sets are directly adjusted by an adaptive law. Two SAFLC's are designed. One of them uses a Hurwitz error dynamics and the other a switching function of the sliding mode control (SMC). We also prove that 1) their closed-loop systems are globally stable in the sense that all signals involved are bounded and 2) their tracking errors converge to zero asymptotically. We perform computer simulations using a nonlinear plant.

  • This paper presents and adaptive fuzzy controller using fuzzy neural networks(FNNs). The adaptive controller uses two FNNs. One FNN is used to identify a fuzzy model of controlled object. The other FNN is used as a fuzzy controller. The fuzzy controller is designed with the linguistic rules of the fuzzy model. The response of the designed control system is checked with a linguistic response analysis proposed by the authors. An adaptive tuning of the control rules of the FNN controller is made possible utilizing the fuzzy model. Simulations using nonlinear controlled objects were done to verify the proposed control system.

Because balancing control rules of the pendulum and position control rules of the cart can be opposite, it is difficult to design an adaptive fuzzy controller that satisfy both objectives. To stabilize the pendulum at a specified position, the hierarchical adaptive fuzzy controller consists of a robust indirect adaptive fuzzy controller for balancing, a forced disturbance generator which emulates heuristic control strategy, and a supervisory decision maker for the arbitration of two control objectives It is proved that all the signals in the overall system are bounded. • In this paper, we focus upon the design and applications of adaptive fuzzy-neuro controllers. An intelligent control system is proposed by exploiting the merits of two paradigms, a fuzzy logic controller and a neural network, assuming that we can modify in real time the consequential parts of the rulebase with adaptive learning, and that initial fuzzy control rules are established in a temporarily stable region. We choose the structure of fuzzy hypercubes for the fuzzy controller, and utilize the Perceptron learning rule in order to update the fuzzy control rules on-line with the output error. And, the effectiveness and the robustness of this intelligent controller are shown with application of the proposed adaptive fuzzy-neuro controller to control of the cart-pole system.

  • In this paper, a complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer(CFADFE) based on the LMS algorithm is proposed. The propoed equalizer is based on the complex fuzzy adaptive equalizer. The CFADFE isconstructed from a set of changeable complex fuzzy IF-THEN rules, where the 'IF' part of the rule is characterized by the state from a set of changealble complex fuzzy IF-THEN rules, where the 'IF' part of the rule is characterized by the state of the desision feedback. the role of decision feedback is to reduce the computational complexity. Computer simulation of the decision feedback. The role of decision feedback is to reduce the computational complexity. Computer simulation shosw that the CFADFE notonly reduces the computational complexity but also improves the performance compared with the conventional complex fuzzy adaptive equalizers. We also show that the adaptation speed is greatly improved by incorporating some linguistic information about the channel into the equalzer. It is applied to M-ary QAM digital communication system with linear and nonlinear complex channel characteristics.

  • In this paper, an Adaptive neuro-fuzzy Inference system(ANFIS) using fuzzy min-max network(FMMN) is proposed. Fuzzy min-max network classifier that utilizes fuzzy sets as pattern classes is described. Each fuzzy set is an aggregation of fuzzy set hyperboxes. Here, the proposed method transforms the hyperboxes into gaussian membership functions, where the transformed membership functions are inserted for generating fuzzy rules of ANFIS. Finally, we applied the proposed method to the classification problem of iris data and obtained a better performance than previous works.
