One of the biggest problems of skeletonization is the occurrence of distortions at the junction point of the final binary image. At the junction area, a single point usually becomes a small stroke, and the corresponding trajectory task, as well as the OCR, consequently becomes more complicated. We therefore propose an adaptive post-processing method that uses an adaptive threshold technique to correct the distortions. Our proposed method transforms the distorted segments into a single point so that they are as similar to the original image as possible, and this improves the static handwriting images after the skeletonization process. Further, we attained promising results regarding the usage of the enhanced skeletonized images in other applications, thereby proving the expediency and efficiency of the proposed method.
In order to guarantee the proper operation of a recessed channel array transistor (RCAT) pseudo SRAM, the back-bias voltage must be changed in response to changes in temperature. Due to cell drivability and leakage current, the obtainable back-bias range also changes with temperature. This paper presents a pseudo SRAM for mobile applications with an adaptive back-bias voltage generator with a negative temperature dependency (NTD) using an NTD VBB detector. The proposed scheme is implemented using the Samsung 100 nm RCAT pseudo SRAM process technology. Experimental results show that the proposed VBB generator has a negative temperature dependency of -0.85 $mV/^{\circ}C$, and its static current consumption is found to be only 0.83 ${\mu}A$@2.0 V.
This paper presents a reconfigurable digital signal processing(rDSP) architecture that is effective for implementing adaptive digital signal processing in the applications of smart health care system. This rDSP architecture employs an evolution capability of FIR filters using genetic algorithm. Parallel genetic algorithm based rDSP architecture evolves FIR filters to explore optimal configuration of filter combination, associated parameters, and structure of feature space adaptively to noisy environments for an adaptive signal processing. The proposed DSP architecture is implemented using Xilinx Virtex4 FPGA device and SMIC 0.18um CMOS Technology.

In this paper, we propose two novel blind LMS algorithms, called exponential step sire LMS algorithms (ES-LMS), for adaptive array antennas whose convergence speed is increased, hence they are much more capable of tracking the desired signal than the conventional LMS algorithms. Both of the algorithms require neither spatial knowledge nor reference signals since they use the finite symbol property of digital signal. Computer simulations were carried cot in CDMA environment affected by multi-path Rayleigh fading to verify the performance of the two proposed algorithms.
In this paper, the fuzzy group method data handling-type(GMDH) neural networks and their application to the forecasting of mobile communication system are described. At present, GMDH family of modeling algorithms discovers the structure of empirical models and it gives only the way to get the most accurate identification and demand forecasts in case of noised and short input sampling. In distinction to neural networks, the results are explicit mathematical models, obtained in a relative short time. In this paper, an adaptive learning network is proposed as a kind of neuro-fuzzy GMDH. The proposed method can be reinterpreted as a multi-stage fuzzy decision rule which is called as the neuro-fuzzy GMDH. The GMDH-type neural networks have several advantages compared with conventional multi-layered GMDH models. Therefore, many types of nonlinear systems can be automatically modeled by using the neuro-fuzzy GMDH. The computer program is developed and successful applications are shown in the field of estimating problem of mobile communication with the number of factors considered.

This paper presents an adaptive H.263+ rate control algorithm for streaming video applications under the networks supporting bandwidth renegotiation, which can communicate with end-users to accommodate their time-varying bandwidth requests during the data transmission. That is, the requests of end-users can be supported adaptively according to the availability of the network resources, and thus the overall network utilization can be improved simultaneously. They are especially suitable for the transmission of non-stationary video traffics. The proposed rate control algorithm communicates with the network to renegotiate the required bandwidth fort the underlying video which are measured based on the motion change information, and choose their control strategies according to the renegotiation results. Unlike most conventional algorithms that control only the spatial quality by adjusting quantization parameters, the proposed algorithm treats both the spatial and temporal qualities at the same time to enhance human visual perceptual quality. Experimental results are provided to demonstrate that the proposed rate control algorithm can achieve superior performance to the conventional ones with low computational complexity under the networks supporting bandwidth renegotiation.
Blind mismatch correction of time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (TI-ADC) is a challenging task. We present a practical blind calibration technique for low-computation, low-complexity, and high-resolution applications. Its key features are: dramatically reduced computation; simple hardware; guaranteed parameter convergence with an arbitrary number of TI-ADC channels and most real-life input signals, with no bandwidth limitation; multiple Nyquist zone operation; and mixed-domain error correction. The proposed technique is experimentally verified by an M = 4 400 MSPS TI-ADC system. In a single-tone test, the proposed practical blind calibration technique suppressed mismatch spurs by 70 dB to 90 dB below the signal tone across the first two Nyquist zones (10 MHz to 390 MHz). A wideband signal test also confirms the proposed technique.

A deeper understanding of how organizations behave as social complex adaptive systems is needed. In this paper we demonstrate how the Leadership Invigorating Flows of Energies model can help with this understanding. The model highlights the role of emergent leadership as a force encouraging the creation, diffusion, and utilization of knowledge through self-organizing mechanisms. We illustrate our approach by examining Wikipedia and show how it can be described as a social CAS. Our analysis of Wikipedia describes how emerging intrapreneurship behaviors result in dynamic flows of knowledge and self-organizing feedback mechanisms across the organization. We provide implications for organization studies and present evidence to support claims made by advocates of complexity theory. We conclude by proposing that Wikipedia can be seen as a new form of organization, and finish with a brief note highlighting a possible way forward.

Fuzzy Logic Control immitating human decision making process is a novel control strategy based on expert's experience and knowledge and many process designers are developing its applications. But it is difficult to obtain a set of ruler from human operators. And there is a limitation on adjusting to environmental changes. In this paper, we proposed adaptive fuzzy algorithm to overcome these difficulties using weights added to the rules. To verify the validity of this control strategy, we have implemented this algorithm for a DC servo motor with PD-type fuzzy controller.
In this paper, we propose a content-based MPEG transcoding method using a discontinuity feature in the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) domain. A DCT block is transcoded differently depending on the height of dominant discontinuity within a block. In the experiment, we show the result that the video quality of content-based transcoding is better than that of a constant cut-off method and the processing time of the adaptive method is much faster compared with the pixel domain methods in the same bandwidth.
