  • A pressure control law to regulate pressure of gas generator is suggested. To design a model based control law, the governing equation which consists of Robert and conservation equation is built and verified through the ground burning test. PID and nonlinear adaptive control laws are designed to analyze the loop response characteristics under the system which has varying eigen properties arisen from combustion volume change. It is suggested that new approach, gain scheduling design, is required to overcome the defects identified from numerical simulation results of the two control laws. The newly suggested scheme shows good control performance even under disturbances and measurement noise.

  • To address challenges of an unprecedented growth in mobile data traffic, the ultra-dense network deployment is a cost efficient solution to off-load the traffic over other small cells. However, the real traffic is often much lower than the peak-hour traffic and certain small cells are superfluous, which will not only introduce extra energy consumption, but also impose extra interference onto the radio environment. In this paper, an elastic energy efficient cell management scheme is proposed based on flow scheduling among multi-layer ultra-dense cells by a SDN controller. A significant power saving was achieved by a cell-level energy manager. The scheme is elastic for energy saving, adaptive to the dynamic traffic distribution in the office or campus environment. In the end, the performance is evaluated and demonstrated. The results show substantial improvements over the conventional method in terms of the number of active BSs, the handover times, and the switches of BSs.

  • As portable devices are used widely, power management algorithm is essential to extend battery use time on small-sized battery power. Although many methods have been proposed, they assumed the voltage transition overhead was negligible or was considered partially. However, the voltage transition overhead might not guarantee to schedule real-time tasks in portable multimedia systems. This paper proposes the adaptive power-aware algorithm to minimize the power consumption by considering the voltage transition overhead. It selects only a few discrete frequencies from the whole frequencies of a system and adjusts the interval between two consecutive frequencies based on the system utilization to reduce the number of frequency change. This algorithm saves the power consumption about 10 to 25 percent compared to a CC RT-DVS method and a frequency-smoothing method.

  • S-MAC is hybrids of CSMA and TDMA approaches that use local sleep-wake schedules to coordinate packet exchanges and reduce idle listening. In this method, all the nodes are considered with equal priority which may lead to increased delay during heavy traffic. The method introduced in this paper provides high throughput and small end-to-end delay suitable for applications such as real-time voice streaming and its functionality is independent of underlying synchronization protocol. The novel idea behind our scheme is that it uses the priority concept with (m,k)-firm scheduling in order to achieve its objectives. The performance of our scheme is obtained through simulations for various packet sizes, traffic loads which show significant improvements in packet delivery ratio, and delay compared to existing protocols.

  • The stereo system based on local matching is very popular due to its algorithmic simplicity, however it is limited to apply to various applications because it shows poor quality with low matching rates. In this paper, we propose and design a realtime stereo system based on an adaptive support-weight and the system shows low error rates and realtime performance. Generally, in the adaptive support-weight algorithm the intermediate computing results can not be reused to reduce the number of computations. In this research we modify the scheduling to reuse the intermediate results for the better performance by processing rows and columns separately. The nonlinear functions such as exponential or arc tangent have been designed with piecewise linear and step functions by empirical simulations and error analysis. The proposed architecture is composed of 9 processing elements for realtime performance. The proposed stereo system has been designed and synthesized using Donbu Hitek 0.18um standard cell library and can run up to 350Mhz operation frequency (33 frames per second) with 424K gates.

  • Tailless aircraft have advantages of low visibility compared to conventional aircraft, but drawback of poor stability as well which makes designing controller difficult. The controller design is more difficult, especially when the center of gravity moves due to store release or fuel consumption during flight. In this paper, an L1 adaptive controller is proposed as a way to overcome these problems. The reliability and performance of the controllers were verified by non-linear simulations. RPV Flying Quality Design criteria were used for design criteria. Using the simulation, it is shown that the adaptive controller maintains stability of the unmanned aircraft for sudden large change in the inertial properties. It is also shown that the calculation burden can be reduced when it is used with the gain scheduling method.

  • The channel scheduler is suggested the radio resource management method in order to provide service with guaranteeing fairness and throughput to the users who use limited wireless channel. Proportional fairness scheduling algorithm is the channel scheduler used in the AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding)/TDM system, and this algorithm increases the throughput considering the user's time fairness. In this paper is suggested the channel scheduler combining CDM scheme available in AMC/TDM/CDM system. Unlike the system which only uses TDM which provide the only one user at the same slot, this scheduler can service a lot of users since this uses the CDM scheme with multi-cord channel. At every moment, allocation of transmission power to multi-channel users is problematic because of CDM scheme. In this paper, we propose a water-filling scheduling algorithm to solve the problem. Water-filling fairness(WF2) scheduling algorithm watches the average channel environment. So, this modified method guarantees fairness for each user in terms of power and service time.

  • The orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) systems are well suited to multi-rate multicast transmission, as they allow flexible resource allocation across both frequency and time, and provide adaptive modulation and coding schemes. Unlike layered video coding, the multiple description coding (MDC) enables flexible decomposition of the raw video stream into two or more substreams. The quality of the video stream is expected to be roughly proportional to data rate sustained by the receiver. This paper describes a mathematical model of resource allocation and throughput in the multi-rate video multicast for the OFDMA wireless and mobile networks. The impact on mean opinion score (MOS), as a measurement of user-perceived quality (by employing a variety of scheduling disciplines) is discussed in terms of utility maximization and proportional fairness. We propose a pruning algorithm to ensure a minimum video quality even for a subset of users at the resource limitation, and show the optimal number of substreams and their rates can sustain.

  • 3G Long Term Evolution, which aims for various mobile multimedia service provision by enhanced wireless interface, proposes VoIP-based voice service through a Packet Switching (PS) domain. As delay and loss-sensitive VoIP traffic flows through the PS domain, more challenging technical difficulties are expected than in Circuit Switching (CS) domain based VoIP services. Moreover, since 3G LTE, which adopts the OFDM as its physical layer, introduces Physical Resource Block (PRB) as a unit for transmission resources, new types of resource management schemes are needed. This paper proposes a PRB scheduling algorithm of MAC layer for VoIP service in 3G LTE and shows the simulation results. The proposed algorithm has two key parts; dynamic activation of VoIP priority mode to satisfy VoIP QoS requirements and adaptive adjustment of the priority mode duration in order to minimize the degradation of resource utilization.
