The development and implementation of a real-time, traffic adaptive control scheme based on fuzzy logic through Video Image Detector systems (VIDs) is presented. Through VIDs based image processing, fuzzy logic can be used for a real-time traffic adaptive signal control scheme. Fuzzy control logic allows linguistic and inexact traffic data to be manipulated as a useful tool in designing signal timing plans. The fuzzy logic has the ability to comprehend linguistic instructions and to generate control strategy based on a priori verbal communication. The implementation of fuzzy logic controller for a traffic network is introduced. Comparisons are made between implementations of the fuzzy logic controller and the actuated controller in an isolated intersection. The results obtained from the application of the fuzzy logic controller are also compared with those corresponding to a pretimed controller for the coordinated intersections. Simulation results from the comparisons indicate the performance of the system is between under the fuzzy logic controller. Integration of the aforementioned schemes into and ATMS framework will lead to real-time adjustment of the traffic control signals, resulting in significant reduction in traffic congestion.
This paper presents adaptive control of robot manipulator using neuro-fuzzy controller Fuzzy logic is control incorrect system without correct mathematical modeling. And, neural network has learning ability, error interpolation ability of information distributed data processing, robustness for distortion and adaptive ability. To reduce the number of fuzzy rules of the FLS(fuzzy logic system), we consider the properties of robot dynamic. In fuzzy logic, speciality and optimization of rule-base creation using learning ability of neural network. This paper presents control of robot manipulator using neuro-fuzzy controller. In proposed controller, fuzzy input is trajectory following error and trajectory following error differential ...

This paper develops a adaptive fuzzy controller based fuzzy logic control for high performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drives. In the proposed system, fuzzy control is used to implement the direct controller as well as the adaptation mechanism. The operation of the direct fuzzy controller and the fuzzy logic based adaptation mechanism is studied. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive fuzzy controller is evaluated by simulation for various operating conditions. The validity of the proposed adaptive fuzzy controller is confirmed by performance results for PMSM drive system.

A study on the improvement of tracking performance of a 3 DOF planar parallel manipulator is performed. A class of adaptive tracking control sheme is designed using self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic control theory. This control sheme is composed of three classical PD controller and a multi learning type self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic controller set. PD controller is tuned roughly by manual setting a priori and fuzzy logic controller is tuned precisely by the gradient descent method for a global solution during run-time, so the proposed control scheme is tuned more rapidly and precisely than the single learning type self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic control sheme for a local solution. The control performance of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiments.

Using a sole input variable simplifies the design process for the fuzzy logic controller(FLC). This is called single-input fuzzy logic controller(SFLC). However it is still deficient in the capability of adapting to the varying operating conditions. We here design a single-input adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) using a switching function of the sliding mode control. The AFLC can directly incorporate linguistic fuzzy control rules into the controller. Hence some parameters of the membership functions characterizing the linguistic terms of the fuzzy rules can be adjusted by an adaptive law. In the proposed AFLC center values of fuzzy sets are directly adjusted by a fuzzy logic system. We prove that 1) its closed-loop system is globally stable in the sense that all signals involved are bounded and 2)its tracking error converges to zero asymptotically. We perform computer simulation using a nonlinear plant.
This paper presents an approach for designing a fuzzy logic-based adaptive SVC damping In controller for damping low frequency power oscillations. Power systems are often subject to low Frequency electro-mechanical oscillations resulting from electrical disturbances. Generally, power system stabilizers are designed to provide damping against this kind of oscillations. Another means to achieve damping is to design supplementary damping controllers that are equipped with SVC. Various approaches are available for designing such controllers, many of which are based on the concepts of damping torque and others which treat the damping controller design as a generic control problem and apply various control theories on it. In our proposed approach, linear optimal controllers are designed and then a fuzzy logic tuning mechanism is constructed to generate a single control signal. The controller uses the system operating condition and a fuzzy logic signal tuner to blend the control signals generated by two linear controllers, which are designed using an optimal control method. First, we design damping controllers for the two extreme conditions; the control action for intermediate conditions is determined by the fuzzy logic tuner. The more the operating condition belongs to one of the two fuzzy sets, the stronger the contribution of the control signal from that set in the output signal. Simulation studies done on a one-machine infinite-bus and a four-machine two-area test system, show that the proposed fuzzy adaptive damping SVC controller effectively enhances the damping of low frequency oscillations.
An adaptive fuzzy P + ID controller for variable speed operation of BLDC motor drives is presented in this paper. Generally, a conventional PID controller is most widely used in industry due to its simple control structure and ease of design. However, the PID controller suffers from the electrical machine parameter variations and disturbances. To improve the tracking performance for parameter and load variations, the controller proposed in this paper is constructed by using an adaptive fuzzy logic controller in place of the proportional term in a conventional PID controller. For implementing this controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted in comparison with the PID controller. An adaptive fuzzy controller applied to proportional term to achieve robustness against parameter variations has simple structure and computational simplicity. The controller based on optimal fuzzy logic controller has an self-tuning characteristics with clustering. Computer simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

We proposed the design of SVC adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) using Tabu search and neural network. We tuned the gains of input-output variables of fuzzy logic controller(FLC) and weights of neural network using Tabu search. Neural network was used for adaptively tuning the output gain of FLC. The weights of neural network was learned from the back propagation algorithm in real-time. To evaluate the usefulness of AFLC, we applied the proposed method to single-machine infinite system. AFLC showed the better control performance than PD controller and GAFLC[8] for. three-phase fault in nominal load which had used when tuning AFLC. To show the robustness of AFLC, we applied the proposed method to disturbances such as three-phase fault in heavy and light load. AFLC showed the better robustness than PD controller and GAFLC[8].

In this paper, the development of a new group controller for high-speed elevator is carried out utilizing approach of an adaptive dual fuzzy logic. A goals of control are the minimization of waiting time, mean-waiting time and long-waiting time in a building. when a new hall call is generated, adaptive dual fuzzy controller evaluate traffic pattern and change appropriately the membership function of fuzzy rule base. Control for co-operation among elevators in group control algorithm are essential, and the most critical control function in group controller is a effective and proper hall call assignment of elevators. Thy group elevator system utilizing adaptive dual fuzzy control reveals a great deal of improvement on its performance.
