A high resolution model is proposed for calculating the temperature field of a large city, based upon a Lagrangian particle model. Utilizing the analogy between the heat and mass transport phenomena in turbulent flows, a Lagrangian particle model, originally developed for air pollutant dispersion problems, is adapted for simulating heat transport. In the model conceptual heat particles are released into the atmosphere from the heat sources and move along with the turbulent winds in accordance with the Markov process. The potential temperature assumed to be conserved along with heat particles serves as a tag, so the temperature fields can be deduced from the distribution of particles. The wind fields are constructed from a diagnostic meteorology model incorporating a morphological model designed for building flows. Test run shows the robustness of the modeling system.

The characteristics of suspended particulate matters(dust) in Seoul had been studied. The effects of various environmental factors, such as passengers, motor vehicles, wind velocity, wind direction, temperature and humidity were examined during the study period. It was shown that the dust emission occurred through the heating was the major source, and the contribution of passengers and motor vehicles was relatively negligible during the night. It was also revealed that the number concentration between $0.5{\mu}m$ and $2.0{\mu}m$ was increased due to the attachment among the dusts and mists by the increased humidity during the night. Considering the fact that the particles larger than $2{\mu}m$ take the most part of weight concentration, it was suggested that the PM-10 method which considered respirable particle as a weighting factor should be adapted in the evaluation air quality.

With information communications and network environments merged wire/wireless networks are generalized. In this viewpoint, WAP is used by communication protocol for the data communication in the field of wireless environment. WTLS developed for the secure communications optimize TLS adapted wireless environment in the TCP/IP internet protocol. But WTLS denote WAP security problem, end-to-end problem, and power consumption, etc. Therefore in this paper we proposed WTLS cryptographic algorithm eliminated WTLS disadvantages. Proposed algorithm solved power consumption, calculated complexity, and security problems because it is not unique but hybrid form.
Experimental and theoretical analyses were carried out to investigate the heat exchange characteristics of the nutrient solution cooling system utilizing ground water. The material of heat exchanger used in the experiment was polyethylene and the cross-flow type was adapted in which nutrient solution was mixed and ground water unmixed. For the exchanger surface area of 0.33$m^2$ and flow rates of ground water of 1-6$\ell$/min, NTU(number of transfer units) and effectiveness of experimental heat exchanger were 0.1-0.45 and 10-35%, respectively. Therefore these results showed that the hydroponic greenhouse of 1,000$m^2$(300 pyong) with the ground water of 10$m^2$/day could cover about 55-70% of maximum cooling load in summer.
Background: The photosynthetic efficiency cool-season, semi-shade ginseng is normal at low morning temperatures, but drops at high afternoon temperatures. Therefore, optimal plant performance would be ensured if it were possible to control daily light transmission rates (LTR). Methods and Results: Plants were grown in a controlled light environment that replicated 11 AM conditions and comparatively analyzed against plant grown under normal conditions. Growth in the controlled light environment resulted in a 2.81 fold increase in photosynthetic efficiency with no change in chlorophyll content, although LTR were high due to low morning temperatures. Increased aerial plant growth was observed in the ginseng plants adapted to the controlled light environment, which in turn influenced root weight. An 81% increase in fresh root weight (33.3 g per plant on average) was observed in 4-year-old ginseng plants grown in controlled light environment compared to the plants grown following conventional practices (18.4 g per plant on average). With regard to the inorganic composition of leaves of 4-year-old ginseng plants grown in controlled light environment, an increased in Fe content was observed, while Mn and Zn content decreased, and total ginsenoside content of roots increased 2.37 fold. Conclusions: Growth of ginseng under a favorable light environment, such as the condition which exist naturally at 11 AM and are suitable for the plant's photosynthetic activity creates the possibility of large scale production, excellent-quality ginseng.
Background: Revegetating landfills can be a challenging task as the reclaimed soils are typically dry and have low nutrient content. Therefore, selecting suitable plant species is important for initial revegetation. The issue with current practices (in Korea) is that alien plant species have been typically selected for revegetation projects. In this context, this study selects and tests a set of native plant species for landfill revegetation, accompanied by the assessment of the landfill soils. Results: The soil of the landfill (landfill location) was in a very poor condition with high bulk density and low organic matter and nutrient contents. Among 10 tested species, only Brassica campestris showed high coverage and a sufficient number of individuals in study quadrats sown with seeds. Results suggest that plant species with heavy seeds are the only ones that can adapt to the environment of a typical landfill due to the site's aridity and low nutrient content. The reason is due to such species' superior wind resistance and the capacity to provide sufficient energy for the initial growth of the plants for survival in such landfill environment. Conclusions: This study recommends selecting plant species (1) with arid-adapted features and (2) whose seed weight is sufficiently heavy for survival at landfills or areas with a similar condition for future revegetation.

This study was conducted to develop the analytical method about simultaneous determination for synthetic antimicrobials in muscle by high performance liquid chromatography - mass selective detector (HPLC- MSD). Solid phase extraction (SPE), matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) have been adapted as pretreatment procedures for HPLC- MSD. Among various solvent tested, methanol was chosen for extraction of synthetic antimicrobials in muscles. For the optimized response, the values of various MS parameters including fragment voltage, drying gas flow, nebulizer pressure, drying gas temperature were verified. The average recovery rates using MSPD and SPE for muscles of bovine and pork were 78.9-127.1% and 78.3-121.7%, respectively. This method was verified the satisfactory performance for fourteen synthetic antimicrobials excepting carbadox in muscle of pork as detection limit of $0.05{\mu}g/g$ on API/ES SIM mode.

The importance of the genetic value of native plants has been raised recently after the adoption of Nagoya Protocol. In this stream, this research focused on the future distribution of Megaleranthis saniculifolia which has been evolved and adapted to Korean natural environment and classified as an endemic endangered species by IUCN. The distribution of the species in future are projected based on 'present potential distribution area' by adopting SRES (Special Report on Emission Scenarios) A1B climate change scenario using 6 types of GCM (General Circulation Model). The major results of the research are as follows : habitats of Megaleranthis saniculifolia. (1) will be reduced by 44% nation wide; (2) in Chungcheongngnam Do and Jeollanam Do will be the most affected; and (3) in high altitude in Chungcheongbuk Do, Gyunggi Do and Gangwon Do will be relatively less affected.
In order to access digital items in a server via ubiquitous devices, the digital items should be adapted according to the system environment, device characteristics and user preferences. In ubiquitous environment, those device-dependent adaptation requirements are not statically determined and not predictable. Therefore an application specific adaptation mechanism can not be applied to a general digital item adaptation engine. In this paper, we propose an application independent digital item adaptation architecture which has a set of minimal transcoders, transcoding path generator for a required adaptation requirement, and adaptation scheduler. And a CFG based method of finding a sequence of multiple unit transcoders called a transcoding path Is described in detail followed by experimental results.
This paper proposes noise-robust fast speaker adaptation method based on the eigenvoice framework in various noisy environments. The proposed method is focused on de-noising and environment clustering. Since the de-noised adaptation DB still has residual noise in itself, environment clustering divides the noisy adaptation data into similar environments by a clustering method using the cepstral mean of non-speech segments as a feature vector. Then each adaptation data in the same cluster is used to build an environment-clustered speaker adapted (SA) model. After selecting multiple environmentally clustered SA models which are similar to test environment, the speaker adaptation based on an appropriate linear combination of clustered SA models is conducted. According to our experiments, we observe that the proposed method provides error rate reduction of $40{\sim}59%$ over baseline with speaker independent model.
