Background: This study analyzed the physiological adaptations of a woody plant, Vitex rotundifolia, in Goraebul coastal sand dunes from May to September 2022. Environmental factors and physiological of plants growing under field and controlled (pot) conditions were compared. Results: Photosynthesis in plants growing in the coastal sand dunes and pots was the highest in June 2022 and July 2022, respectively. Chlorophyll fluorescence indicated the presence of stress in the coastal sand dune environment. The net photosynthesis rate (PN) and Y(II) were highest in June in the coastal sand dune environment and July in the pot environment. In August and September, Y(NPQ) increased in the plants in the coastal sand dune environment, showing their photoprotective mechanism. Chlorophyll a and b contents in the pot plant leaves were higher than those in the coastal sand dune plant leaves; however, chlorophyll-a/b ratio was higher in the coastal sand dune plant leaves than in the pot plant leaves, suggesting a relatively high photosynthetic efficiency. Carotenoid content in the coastal sand dune plant leaves was higher in August and September 2022 than that in the pot plant leaves. Leaf water and soluble carbohydrate contents of the coastal sand dune plant leaves decreased in September 2022, leading to rapid leaf abscission. Diurnal variations in photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence in both environments showed peak activity at 12:00 hour; however, the coastal sand dune plants had lower growth rates and Y(II) than the pot plants. Plants in the coastal sand dunes had higher leaf water and ion contents, indicating that they adapted to water stress through osmotic adjustments. However, plants growing in the coastal sand dunes exhibited reduced photosynthetic activity and accelerated decline due to seasonal temperature decreases. These findings demonstrate the adaptation mechanisms of V. rotundifolia to water stress, poor soils, and high temperature conditions in coastal sand dunes. Conclusions: The observed variations indicate the responses of the V. rotundifolia to environmental stress, and may reveal its survival strategies and adaptation mechanisms to stress. The results provide insights into the ecophysiological characteristics of V. rotundifolia and a basis for the conservation and restoration of damaged coastal sand dunes.

In this research, a cohort of two children, aged 7-8 years, was selected to participate in a specialized three-week training program aimed at enhancing their working memory. The program consisted of three sessions, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. The primary goal was to investigate the impact and developmental trajectory of working memory in school-aged children. Working memory plays a significant role in young children's learning and daily activities. To address the needs of this demographic, products should offer both educational and enjoyable activities that engage working memory. Digital educational tools, known for their flexibility, are suitable for both older individuals and young children. By updating software or modifying content, these tools can be effectively repurposed for young learners without extensive hardware changes, making them both cost-effective and practical. For example, memory training games initially designed for older adults can be adapted for young children by altering images, music, or storylines. Furthermore, incorporating elements familiar to children, like animals, toys, or fairy tales, can increase their engagement in these activities. Historically, working memory capabilities have been assessed predominantly through traditional intelligence tests. However, recent research questions the adequacy of these behavioral measures in accurately detecting changes in working memory. To bridge this gap, the current study utilized electroencephalography (EEG) as a more sophisticated and precise tool for monitoring potential changes in working memory after the training. The research findings were revealing. Participants showed marked improvement in their performance on n-back tasks, a standard measure for evaluating working memory. This improvement post-training strongly supports the effectiveness of the training program. The results indicate that such targeted and structured training programs can significantly enhance the working memory abilities of children in this age group, providing promising implications for educational strategies and cognitive development interventions.

Hemodialysis (HD) patients can experience appetite alterations that affect meals and nutritional status. Few qualitative studies have assessed the chronic impact of HD on the everyday diet. This study aimed to characterise comprehensively the experiences of HD patients adapting to appetite alteration. Semi-structured, face-to-face interviews were conducted in a unit of a tertiary hospital to understand patient experiences with appetite alteration. An interview guide was used to consider adaptive processes developed after reviewing the literature and based on the researchers' clinical experiences. A single researcher conducted all interviews to maintain consistency in data collection. The interview content was analysed using Nvivo 11 based on grounded theory and constant comparison analysis. As a results, the mean age and HD vintage of 14 participants were 60 and 5.8 years, respectively. We developed a self-care model based on HD patient experiences with appetite alteration based on axial and selective coding. Differences in urea sensitivity, taste alteration, and social support could be explained by timing of transitions, life events, and responses to stress. Self-care processes are adapted through the processes of "self-registration" and "self-reconstruction," starting with "disruption." At the stage of adjustment, 4 self-management types were derived based on pattern of self-care: self-initiator, follower, realist, and pessimist. The results of this study provide unique qualitative insight into the lived experiences of HD patients experiencing appetite alteration and their self-care processes. By recognising dietary challenges, health teams can better support HD patients in the transition from dietary education to self-care.

Sixty two natural habitats of Korean lespedeza (Lespedeza stipulacea Maxim) were investigated to obtain basic data on the plant growth and the soil physico-chemical properties such as pH, mineral elements, organic matter content, soil separats and texture. Analyzed results can be summarized as follows. 1. Plant height and dry matter yield of the samples higher in late August and early September, although they varied greatly depending on the sampling date and location. 2. The plant shoot should higher contents of N, P, K. Ca and Mn than root and the plant root was higher in Mg, Fe, Cu, and Zn contents than shoot. 3. Soil pH and Ca content of the natural habitats were higher, but the contents of P$_2$O$_{5}$, K, Mg, Na and organic matter were lower than those of the average soil in Korea. The soil texture of natural habitats showed much higher portion of sand and extremely low portion of silt and clay 4. Korean lespedeza is well adapted to soils so low in fertility and organic matter that other crops and most weed fail. also it appears to thrive on the loamy sands, sandy loams of the piedmont region and on similar soils with variously physico-chemical properties.
In order to breed hemp variety with nondrug type adapted to Korea, a total of 44 accessions were introduced from Center for plant breeding and reproduction research (CPRO) In Netherland and evaluated for plant growth characteristics and contents of cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannbinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabinol (CBN) in Korean climatical and geographical condition. 1. In Korean geographical position which latitude is $34^{\circ}N$, days to flowering and stem length were shorter than in Netherlands which latitude is $52^{\circ}N$. But THC content was not shown significant difference between two areas. 2. Corrected accessions of hemp were classified into 3 variety groups by cluster analysis and 4 accessions including Korean local variety were not classified into any variety group. 3. Most hemp accessions have low THC contents but were not suitable for fiber production in Korea due to short days to flowering and stem length. 4. Among the introduced accessions, IH3 was suitable for breeding material of fiber hemp with non-drug type because of low THC content and similar days to flowering with Korean local variety.
Among animals, the rabbit is known to be affected most sensitively by dietary changes and to be most susceptible to atherosclerosis. The exact reason is still unknown as to whether the primary cause is intrinsic (tissue itself) or extrinsic such as a blood factor which could be influenced by various dietary means. It is of utmost importance to check the nutritional quality of rabbit meat before it is accepted and adapted as a daily food item. To evaluate nutritional quality of rabbit meat, studies on various aspects of lipid components were carried out in comparison with other animal meats such as beef, pork and chicken also included in the study was the question whether the cooking and storage conditions influence the composition of fatty acids and cholesterol level. Some results and findings are listed below: 1. The content of linoleic acid (18 : 2), one of the essential fatty acids, was much higher in rabbit meat compared to the other meats. The Percentages of this Polyunsaturated fatty acids, was much higher in rabbit meat compared to the other meats. The percentages of this polyunsaturated fatty acid in terms of total fatty acids were $37.3{\pm}3.7$, 5.9, 14.5, and 21.9% for rabbit, beef, pork, and chicken respectively. The degree of unsaturation was high not only in meat but also in liver and adipose tissue of rabbit. The values of iodine number, the indication of degree of unsaturation, were known to be $102{\sim}107$, $32{\sim}47$, $46{\sim}67$, and $55{\sim}77$ for rabbit, beef, pork, and chicken respectively. Such a high proportion of this polyunsaturated fatty acid contained in rabbit meat could be harmful due to their Peroxidation effect. 2. A small amount of lower (short chain) fatty acids was isolated from rabbit tussues, which were not observed in other animal's tissues. The significance of this small amount of short chain fatty acids contained in rabbit meat remained an open question. 3. The concentration of total cholesterol in rabbit meat was similar to that of otherr but the content of esterified cholesterol was higher in rabbit meat. This was probably due to the perference of cholesterol to esterify with unsaturated fatty acids. By roasting the percentage of Polyunsaturated fatty acids was decreased while saturated palmitic acid was proportionally increased. 4 The composition of fatty acids were affected more by dry heat than moist heat. More research should be pursued to improve methods of preservation and storage to prevent possible peroxidation and rancidity problems of rabbit meat. In the meantime, the public should be informed to eat fresh rabbit meat and not to store it for a long period of time. This study was supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Korea.
With the growth of the Internet, multimedia streaming becomes an important means to deliver video contents over the Internet and the amount of the streaming multimedia contents is also getting increased. However, it becomes difficult to guarantee the quality of service in real-time over the IP network environment with instantaneously varying bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an optimal adaptation framework for streaming contents over the Internet in the sense that the perceptual quality of the multi-angie content with multiple visual objects is maximized given the constraints such as available bandwidth and transcoding cost. In the multi-angle video service framework, the user can select his/her preferred alternate views among the given multiple video streams captured at different view angles for a same event. This enhanced experience often entails streaming problems in real-time over the network, such as instantaneous bandwidth changes in the Internet. In order to cope with this problem, we assume that multi-angle video contents are encoded at different bitrates and the appropriate video streams are then selected or transcoded for delivery to meet such bandwidth constraints. For the user selective consumption of the various bitstreams in the multi-angle video service, the bitstream in each angle can be encoded in various bitrate, and the user can select a sub-bitrstream in the given bitrstreams or transcode the corresponding content in order to deliver the optimally adapted video contents to the instantaneously changing network condition. Therefore, we define the transcoding cost which means the time taken for transcoding the video stream and formulate a unified optimization framework which maximizes the perceptual quality of the multiple video objects in the given constraints such as the transcoding cost and the network bandwidth. Finally, we present plenty of the experimental results to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
This study examined the role of interpretation with various practices in art museums to seek a new meaning and a concept of art museum today. The exploration of interpretation would he a starting point to discuss about on art museums with professionals in each art-related field. While museums recognize the concept of interpretation and the scope of the functions in different levels, the study focused on the practices of collecting and exhibiting that will entrust the museum new realms of activities toward the audience. In particular, its emphases are set force on the information on the collections via the museum's web sites, interpretation policies, and theories and methodologies in exhibition development. Art museum websites well reflect how museums utilize the new medium to enhance the understanding of art works by providing in-depth art historical information, comprehensive contexts, and subject/concept based search methods. In recent decades, these have enacted changes to expand dimensions of interpretive functions in most museums, particularly in the United States and others. In an administrative perspective, Tate Gallery Interpretation Policy became an good example how an art museum put its interpretation philosophy as the basis of interpreting collection and public programs. Tate established functions of intrepretation and education not only within a task-based team but also as an intrer-divisional coorperation to provide an interpretation scheme of information provisions such as guide brochure, audio tour, multimedia content, and library. New environment and trends of museum exhibition, and its development processes stem from communication theories, object interpretation philosophy, display strategies, and various evaluation techniques through audiences, with the communication theories of Shannon and Weaver, Berlo's SMCR(Source-Message-Channel-Receiver) models were perceived as to understand the mechanism to communicate museum exhibits to visitors Suzan vogel's insight into object display strategy helped to conceive the mechanism of object recontextualization. She emphasized that the museum's practice to construe opinions and impressions through object display should be discreet and critical, therefore, the professionals to plan the exhibition should reveal the intention and their practices. For a prevailing new methodology from the field, the interpretive exhibition development processes are articulated as the front-end, formative, and summative evaluation, futhermore the team process in industrial product management models was adapted. These have turned out to be more interactive with visitors and effective to communicate the exhibition concepts and messages, hence resulting in enriched museum experiences. Finally the study concluded that understanding the aspects of interpretation should help art museums to set a framework for current practices to expand its public dimension. It can provide curators with a critical view to website planning and its content. And obviously, the interpretive exhibition development methodology will lead museum exhibition developers to be skilled in its current approaches to thematic exhibition concerning diverse subjects and topics.
Fiftysix male weanling rats of the Sprague-Dawley strain weighing $52.6{\pm} 0.9g$ were fed with 77% starch-15% casein diet by ad libitum for four days to get them adapted and divided into eight groups. For three weeks, the body weight gain of rats was controlled in three different ranges. After the period of food restriction, the rats were recovered by being fed by ad libitum for seventeen days. During the experimental period, the amount of food intake and body weight were measured. And the experimental groups were compared when they reached at the same age and at the same body weight. Anterior Tibialis, Extensor Digitorum Longus, Soleus, Plantaris, Gastrocnemius were used as analytic items of skeletal muscle. Wet weight of muscle, muscle protein, water content were measured from each of five skeletal muscles. Sodium, potassium, magnesium content were measured from Anterior Tibialis, Extensor Digitorum Longus, Soleus ana Plantaris. Phosphorus was measured only from Gastrocnemius. The whole carcass protein except the skeletal muscles was also measured. During the period of food restriction, food intake was $311.7{\pm}19.5g$ for the control group. $130.2{\pm}1.5g$ for the second group and $161.7{\pm}2.1g$ for the third group. During the period of food restriction, body weight gain was $106.8{\pm}12.7g$ for the control group, $3.6{\pm}2.1g$ for the second group and $18.9{\pm}3.3g$ for the third group. Comparing the body weight when they reached at the age 66 days, the control group showed higher value than the other groups. In the concentration of electrolytes of skeletal muscles sodium and magnesium tend to increase and potassium and phosphorus tend to decrease by food restriction. But after their recovery, there was no significant difference between the groups. By the degree of food restriction, there was time difference in reaching at the same body weight. But when they reached at the same body weight, there was no significant difference in the value of electrolytes concentration. Regarding all the results of this study, the ages of rats which reached the same body weight were different by food restriction level during weanling. Once food·restricted rats reached the same body weight by recovery, the concentration of electrolytes and protein tend to become almost the same.

This study investigated the common features of the best practices in the science classroom, which is the core of school education. The underlying assumption of this research is that the fulfillment of school education is possible with substantial instruction of school curricular areas. The substantial learning of any curricular area depends on each classroom lesson. Data from classroom observations in-depth interviews with teachers and a group of students, a collection of instructional materials were used to extract common characteristics of best practices implemented by 10 exemplary secondary-school science teachers. Common features of best science practices were analyzed in terms of (1)reorganization of science content, (2)pedagogical skills, (3)evaluation, and (4)teachers' efforts for professional development. Results indicated that exemplary science teachers adapted curriculum and textbook content according to students' level and learning context, were able to use a variety of instructional methods and strategies, provided cooperative and intellectually challenging learning environment, and improved their instruction based on assessment results. Also, these exemplary teachers not only improved their own classroom practices, but also participated actively in various professional community of science teachers to share their practical knowledge with their colleagues. They took an active role in teachers' in-service education.
