학령기 아동의 아토피 피부염 유병률과 교실 실내 환경 위험요인에 관한 연구 -통합창원시 지역을 중심으로- (Prevalence Rate and Indoor Risk Factors for Atopic Dermatitis in the School Aged Children in Changwon)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence rate of atopic dermatitis (AD) and indoor risk factors of AD in school-aged children living in Changwon, which is one of the largest industrial cities in Korean. Data were collected from 2,118 children in 12 elementary schools in Changwon city. A cross-sectional questionnaire based on the Korean Version of the ISAAC (International Study of Allergy and Asthma in Childhood) was employed to survey the $1^{st}$ and $4^{th}$ year elementary students from the 12 elementary schools in Changwon. The life time and last 12-month prevalence of itchy eczema were 20.6%; 70.5% in the elementary children. The life time and last 12-month prevalence of AD diagnosis were 28.8%; 12.6% in the elementary children. There was only one elementary school that was abnormal in the levels of particulate matters (PM), and $Co_2$. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that risk factors for AD were BMI, the levels of PM, $Co_2$, CO, $No_2$, $O_3$, Ethylebenzene, and Xylene. This study could be used to manage possible risk factors that are related to the prevalence of AD and develop the strategies for prevention of AD.

광고 창의성 평가에 대한 광고주, 광고 제작자, 소비자 간의 상호인식 연구: 상호지향성 모델의 확장 적용 (Mutual Perceptions among Clients, Agencies, and Consumers on the Evaluation of Ad Creativity: Extending Application of the Co-Orientation Model)

  • 본 연구는 확장된 상호지향성 모델을 적용하여 광고 창의성 평가에 대한 광고주, 광고 제작자, 소비자 간의 상호인식을 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 창의성이 있다고 평가된 광고물을 대상으로 광고 창의성 평가척도로 타당성이 확보된 독창성, 적합성, 명료성, 상관성에 대해 광고주, 광고 제작자, 소비자 간의 객관적 일치도와 주관적 일치도, 정확도 등을 살펴보았다. 분석결과를 살펴보면, 객관적 일치도의 경우 광고주와 제작자 사이에서 비교적 높게 나타나고, 제작자와 소비자 사이에서는 비교적 낮게 나타났다. 주관적 일치도는 광고주 차원에서는 비교적 높게 나타나고 있으나 제작자 차원에서는 비교적 낮게 나타났다. 정확도의 경우는 제작자 인식과 광고주가 생각하는 제작자 인식, 소비자 인식과 제작자가 생각하는 소비자 인식에서는 높게 나타났으나 광고주 인식과 제작자가 생각하는 광고주 인식에서는 낮게 나타났다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 광고주나 광고 제작자는 광고 창의성에 대한 소비자의 생각을 많이 고려할 필요가 있다.

지역공동브랜드에 대한 이미지: 대구시 공동브랜드 '쉬메릭'을 중심으로 (Image of a Region's Co-brand: The Case of'CHIMERIC')

  • This study was interested in examining the image of a co-brand with the case of'CHIMERIC', the co-brand of Daegu city in Korea. The purpose of the study was to investigate the difference in brand image by brand knowledge and the effects of brand image on brand preference, brand purchase, and brand satisfaction. A total of 354 questionnaires collected from the region(Daegu)'s residents, who were aware of CHIMERIC, were analyzed. Factor analysis extracted 6 factors of brand image including symbolic image, product, ad, price, distribution, and publicity. The results revealed that there were differences in product and publicity images by brand knowledge. Symbolic and publicity images and brand knowledge affected brand preference, which in turn had the strongest effect on brand purchase. Brand knowledge also affected brand purchase while no direct effect of brand image was observed. Brand satisfaction was affected by brand preference, publicity, and ad image.

Docking and Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship studies of Acyl Guanidines as β-Secretase (BACE1) Inhibitor

  • ${\beta}$-Secretase (beta-amyloid converting enzyme 1 [BACE1]) is involved in the first and rate-limiting step of ${\beta}$-amyloid ($A{\beta}$) peptides production, which leads to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease(AD). Therefore, inhibition of BACE1 activity has become an efficient approach for the treatment of AD. Ligand-based and docking-based 3D-quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies of acyl guanidine analogues were performed with comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) to obtain insights for designing novel potent BACE1 inhibitors. We obtained highly reliable and predictive CoMSIA models with a cross-validated $q^2$ value of 0.725 and a predictive coefficient $r{^2}_{pred}$ value of 0.956. CoMSIA contour maps showed the structural requirements for potent activity. 3D-QSAR analysis suggested that an acyl guanidine and an amide group in the $R_6$ substituent would be important moieties for potent activity. Moreover, the introduction of small hydrophobic groups in the phenyl ring and hydrogen bond donor groups in 3,5-dichlorophenyl ring could increase biological activity.

Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 Cooperative MAC 프로토콜에 관한 연구 (A study on a cooperative MAC protocol at Ad Hoc networks)

  • Ad Hoc 네트워크는 이동통신망이나 AP (access point)와 통신하는 무선 랜과는 달리 유사한 특징을 가진 모든 단말들이 무선채널을 통해 직접 통신하는 좀 더 진화된 통신망이 라고 할 수 있다. Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 시스템 성능을 높이려는 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있는데 그 중의 하나가 Cooperative 통신이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Cooperative 통신을 실현할 수 있는 CO-MAC 프로토콜을 제안하고, 수학식을 사용하여 성능평가를 수행하였다. 도출된 성능평가 결과를 통해 IEEE 802.11 표준인 DCF 기법, 그리고 기존 연구에서 제안된 rDCF 기법과 성능비교를 통해 프레임 전송오류 확률이 증가할 때 시스템 처리량이 많이 개선됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Immunogenicity of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine in patients with hematologic malignancies

  • Purpose: The present study aimed to study the immunogenicity of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine in patients with hematologic malignancies. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study of hematology patients aimed to evaluate their antibody levels against the receptor-binding domain of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 spike protein and seroconversion rates following two doses of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine. Between June and July 2021, we enrolled 61 patients and included 44 patients in our analysis. Antibody levels were assessed 8 and 4 weeks after the first and second injections, respectively, and compared with those of a healthy group. Results: Eight weeks after the first dose, the geometric mean antibody level was 1.02 binding antibody units (BAU)/mL in the patient group and 37.91 BAU/mL in the healthy volunteer group (p<0.01). Four weeks after the second dose, the geometric mean antibody level was 9.44 BAU/mL in patients and 641.6 BAU/mL in healthy volunteers (p<0.01). The seroconversion rates 8 weeks after the first dose were 27.27% and 98.86% in the patient and healthy volunteer groups, respectively (p<0.001). The seroconversion rate 4 weeks after the second dose was 47.73% in patients and 100% in healthy volunteers. Factors leading to lower seroconversion rates were rituximab therapy (p=0.002), steroid therapy (p<0.001), and ongoing chemotherapy (p=0.048). Factors that decreased antibody levels were hematologic cancer (p<0.001), ongoing chemotherapy (p=0.004), rituximab (p<0.001), steroid use (p<0.001), and absolute lymphocyte count <1,000/mm3 (p=0.009). Conclusion: Immune responses were impaired in individuals with hematologic malignancies, particularly patients undergoing ongoing therapy and B-cell-depleting therapy. Additional vaccinations should be considered for these patients, and further investigated.

Biomethanation of Sewage Sludge with Food Waste Leachate Via Co-Digestion

  • Anaerobic mono- and co-digestion of sewage sludge and food waste leachate (FWL) were performed by assessing methane production and characterizing microbial communities. Anaerobic digestion (AD) of waste activated sludge (WAS) alone produced the lowest methane ($281ml\;CH_4$), but an approximately 80% increase in methane production was achieved via co-digestion of WAS and FWL ($506ml\;CH_4$). There were less differences in the diversity of bacterial communities in anaerobic digesters, while archaeal (ARC) and bacterial (BAC) amounts reflected AD performance. Compared with the total ARC and BAC amounts in the mono-digestion of WAS, the ARC and BAC amounts increased two and three times, respectively, during co-digestion of FWL and WAS. In characterized archaeal communities, the dominant ratio of hydrogenotrophic methanogens in the mono-digestion of WAS approached nearly a 1:1 ratio of the two acetoclastic and hydrogenotrophic methanogens in the co-digestion of FWL and WAS. The ARC/BAC ratio in the digesters varied in the range of 5.9% to 9.1%, indicating a positive correlation with the methane production of AD.

네트워크 코딩 기능을 갖춘 협력통신용 MAC 프로토콜에 관한 연구 (A study on the network coding enabled cooperative MAC protocol at Ad Hoc networks)

  • 최근에는 Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 시스템 성능을 더욱 향상시키기 위해 협력통신에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되었다. 본 논문에서는 시스템 성능을 더욱 개선하기 위하여 협력통신을 지원하는 망구조에서 네트워크 코딩을 지원하는 NC-MAC 프로토콜을 제안하고 확률을 이용한 수학적인 접근방법을 사용하여 성능평가를 수행하였다. 도출된 성능평가 결과를 통해 IEEE 802.11 표준인 DCF 기법에 비해 시스템 처리량이 월등히 개선되며, 기존 연구에서 제안된 rDCF 기법 및 CO-MAC 기법보다도 최대 48%까지 시스템 처리량 성능이 증가함을 확인할 수 있었다.

SIP-3 한약 처방 및 도네페질의 병용 치료: 아밀로이드 베타로 유도된 알츠하이머병 생쥐 모델에서의 NGS 연구 (Combination Treatment with SIP-3 Herb Formula and Donepezil: An NGS Study in the Mouse Model of Alzheimer's Disease Induced by Amyloid-β)

  • Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex disease accompanied by slow impairment of memory and coordination leading to behavioral changes. To date, the only treatment option is to delay the progress of the disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate the synergistic effects of combination treatment with donepezil and three herbal extracts SIP-3 in the AD mouse model induced by amyloid-β (Aβ). Methods: We tested SIP-3 extracts for the cytotoxicity on Aβ-treated SH-SY5Y cells. Then the synergistic effects of SIP-3 and donepezil were evaluated in the AD mouse model using animal experiments and the next generation sequencing (NGS) study. Results: We found that co-treatment with SIP-3 extracts and donepezil increased the viability in Aβ-treated SH-SY5Y cells. The beneficial effects of the co-treatment were also observed in the Aβ-induced AD mouse model. The NGS study was performed to show that the co-treatment of SIP-3 and donepezil restored the disease phenotype closely to the normal level in the AD mouse model in terms of mRNA expression. However, the phenotypes were only partially restored. Conclusions: This study suggests that the combination treatment has a potential to be used for the treatment of AD. However, longer periods of treatment may be required.

Alleviation of Atopic Dermatitis through Probiotic and Mixed-probiotic Treatments in an Atopic Dermatitis Model

  • The use of lactic-acid bacteria (LAB) is effective for preventing and curing immune disorders by activating the immune system in the digestive tract and the consequent immune response in the blood. In this study, LAB and mixed LABs were used in an atopic dermatitis (AD) mouse model. Alleviation of AD was observed based on the change in cytokine level and immunohistochemical staining. An ex vivo test showed that immunoglobulin-E and interleukin (IL)-4 levels were significantly lower in all groups treated with LAB than in the group treated with only 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene. Results of an in vivo test based on the ex vivo results showed that the scratch score decreased in all groups treated with the LAB and particularly decreased in the group treated with mixed LABs. Additionally, the T helper (Th) 1 cytokines interferon-gamma and IL-12p40 were upregulated by the LAB and mixed-LABs, whereas levels of the Th2 cytokine IL-4 were downregulated in a mouse model of AD-like skin lesions. Furthermore, hematoxylin & eosin and immunohistochemical staining of the dorsal area of the mice in each group showed that AD improved in the LAB-treated groups. These results suggest that LAB and mixed LABs inhibit the development of AD in NC/Nga mice by suppressing the Th2 cell response and increasing the Th1 cell response. Our results indicate that mixed LABs are better than LAB for treating AD-like skin lesions.
