An Ad-Hoc networks is a set of wireless mobile host which forms temporary networks without any concentrated controls or any helps of standard support services. Mobile host' routers are operated by their mobile hosts without fixed routers, therefore, the original routing protocol algorithm are not effective. There are two major Protocols in Ad-Hoc Network. A Table-Driven algorithm and an On-Demand, but the latter is presented more effective. We try to compare and analyze the performances of each protocol's host in this thesis.

In this paper, we propose mobile ad hoc network configuration and its autonomous network construction method for efficiency and scalability of media streaming for mobile smart devices. To provide scalable network configuration for streaming traffic distribution, an IEEE 802.11 infrastructure network and ad hoc networks are hierarchically built. The proposed method autonomously configures a hierarchical streaming network by competition based on performance and states of devices and the wireless network, not depending on any specific nodes. Finally, we conduct performance measurement for the proposed configuration and analyze the experimental result.

For the real time monitoring and tracking of shipping container which is one of the core objects for global logistics, Wireless Ad-Hoc Network technology might be needed in stacking environments such as ports, yards and ships. In this paper, we propose a container network routing protocol suitable for port or yard stacking environments which include some constraints such as shadow area problem from metal material, frequent movement of container, etc. With this protocol in which a mesh network algorithm is applied, every container data packet can be delivered to the sink node reliably even with frequent join/leave of container nodes. As soon as a node on path gets malfunction, alternative backup path is supported with notice to neighbor node, which makes constant total optimal path. We also verified that the performance of proposed protocol is better than AODV, one of previous major MANet(Mobile Ad-Hoc Network) protocol with a function for alternative path, which says the proposed protocol is better for frequent join/leave and variable link quality.
As the wireless mobile communication is being widespread, mobile technologies will have important roles in the communication with the explosive growth of demanding for wireless portable devices. Among the mobile technologies, a great deal of interest has been taken in mobile ad hoc network (MANET), which is a collection of wireless mobile nodes forming a temporary network without the aid of stationary infrastructure in recent. Furthermore, considering characteristic of ad hoc networks, the design of efficient routing protocols is an important issue. In recent years, on-demand protocols among routing protocols have noticed because of the low routing overhead. However, on-demand protocols suffer from production of the enormous query Packets by broadcasting in order to setup routes, that is, a flooding scheme. The flooding scheme is very costly and results in serious problem, which we refer as the broadcast storm problem. In this paper, we propose a Dynamic Adaptation Query flooding Using Neighbor Topology (NT-DAQ) scheme, in order to resolve the broadcast storm Problem. When a route discovery is in progress, each mobile node decides on the basis of neighbor topology information whether discovery process participates or not. Therefore, our proposed scheme enables to improve network performance in which minimize the number of query rackets. We evaluate the efficiency of our proposed scheme through simulation.

Routing protocol in ad hoc mobile networking has been an active research area in recent years. However, the environments of ad hoc network tend to have vulnerable points from attacks, because ad hoc mobile network is a kind of wireless network without centralized authentication or fixed network infrastructure such as base stations. Also, existing routing protocols that are effective in a wired network become inapplicable in ad hoc mobile networks. To address these issues, several secure routing protocols have been proposed: SAODV and SRPTES. Even though our protocols are intensified security of networks than existing protocols, they can not deal fluidly with frequent changing of wireless environment. Moreover, demerits in energy efficiency are detected because they concentrated only safety routing. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient secure routing protocol for various ad hoc mobile environment. First of all, we provide that the nodes distribute security information to reliable nodes for secure routing. The nodes constitute tree-structured with around nodes for token escrow, this action will protect invasion of malicious node through hiding security information. Next, we propose multi-path routing based security level for protection from dropping attack of malicious node, then networks will prevent data from unexpected packet loss. As a result, this algorithm enhances packet delivery ratio in network environment which has some malicious nodes, and a life time of entire network is extended through consuming energy evenly.

In this paper, we propose a Cross-Layer Transmission Architecture (CLTA) to support power saving high-speed multimedia services in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks(MAWSN). The main goals of this paper are in showing and proposing how the routing routes are decided on route stability based on mobility of mobile nodes to increase the operational lifetime of routes as well as how the transmit power can be saved in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks. To obtain these goals, we propose a cross-layer architecture strategy which combines network layer technology with physical layer technology to get synergy effects in the view of transmission power saving. We consider a realistic approach, in the points of view of the MAWSN, based on mobile sensor nodes as well as fixed sensor nodes in sensor fields while the conventional research for sensor networks focus on mainly fixed sensor nodes. The performance evaluation of the proposed CLTA is performed via simulation and analysis.
This paper proposes a multipath routing protocol called cross-layer multipath AODV (CM-AODV) for wireless ad hoc networks, which selects multiple routes on demand based on the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) measured at the physical layer. Note that AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) is one of the most popular routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks. Each time a route request (RREQ) message is forwarded hop by hop, each forwarding node updates the route quality which is defined as the minimum SINR of serialized links in a route and is contained in the RREQ header. While achieving robust packet delivery, the proposed CM-AODV is amenable to immediate implementation using existing technology by neither defining additional packet types nor increasing packet length. Compared to the conventional multipath version of AODV (which is called AOMDV), CM-AODV assigns the construction of multiple paths to the destination node and makes it algorithmically simple, resulting in the improved performance of packet delivery and the less overhead incurred at intermediate nodes. Our performance study shows that CM-AODV significantly outperforms AOMDV in terms of packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay, and results in less routing overhead.

Wireless Ad-hoc networks may contain nodes of various types of which many can have limited power capabilities. A failure of a node due to energy exhaustion may impact the performance of the whole network hence, energy must be conserved. In this paper, we propose a Delay and Energy-Aware Routing (DEAR) algorithm a multiple metric path cost routing algorithm which considers not only the energy consumed by the node during transmission and reception but as well as the residual energy of the node and the delay incurred during route discovery. Based on our results, DEAR algorithm performs well and maximizes network lifetime by routing flows to nodes with sufficient energy such that the energy consumption is balanced among nodes in proportion to their energy reserves.

Recently, there has been a clear trend towards the application of ad hoc networking technology in civil aviation communication systems, giving birth to a new research field, namely, aeronautical ad hoc networks (AANETs). An AANET is a special type of ad hoc wireless network with a significantly larger scale and distinct characteristics of its mobile nodes. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop a simulator to facilitate the research in these networks. In this paper, we present a network simulator, Aero-Sim, for AANETs. Aero-Sim, which is based on the freely distributed NS-2 simulator, enables detailed packet-level simulations of protocols at the MAC, link, network, transport, and application layers by composing simulations with existing modules and protocols in NS-2. Moreover, Aero-Sim supports three-dimensional network deployment. Through several case studies using realistic China domestic air traffic, we show that the proposed simulator can be used to simulate AANETs and can reproduce the real world with high fidelity.

Though the wireless ad-hoc network which is recently highly focused is power limited network, one of the main research topic is power saving. We propose a optimal power allocation strategy and derive the optimal power of the opportunistic transmission relays for minimum outage probability of the power limited network. It is shown that the proposed optimal power allocation has always better performance than that of the equal power allocation.
