Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) that are currently practiced in Korean medicine(韓醫學) and to consider the directions in further research and development. Methods : Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were selected based on Acupuncture Medicine textbook of College of Korean Medicine and published researches. Then, selected Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were categorized by characteristics. Also, the selected Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were comprehensively classified according to new models, Heaven-Earth-Human(天地人) model and Dimensional model. The directions of further research and development in Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were considered based on this. Results & Conclusions : In the categorization by characteristics, sufficient basic references were unavailable to consider the directions in further research and development. However, comprehensive classification using Heaven-Earth-Human(天地人) model and Dimensional model was able to be used as references for estimating the relative positions of each Method of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) and also, establishing the directions in further research and development. Regarding the results from comprehensive classification, the studies on Physiology of Four Seasons and Day and night(晝夜) are required. Besides, the acceptance of Western medical contents which include anatomical structures is unavoidable to achieve the development in Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法). In addition, it is necessary to propose researches founded on an integrated theory of Viscera and Bowels(藏府) and Meridian and Collateral(經絡) which enables to embrace the physiological function of human body. Upon this, the creation of a Four-dimensional Methods of Acupuncture Therapy(鍼法) is also required.

Objectives: This study is to analyze Acupuncture Methods(鍼法) using Five Transport Points(五輸穴) and to consider the direction of development. Methods: This study focuses on Acupuncture Methods(鍼法) using Five Transport Points(五輸穴) that Five Phase Theory(五行學說) has been applied as a compound and it is designated Five Phase-Five Transport Points-Acupuncture Method(FPT Acupuncture Method, 五行五輸穴鍼法). Principles, Acupuncture Points(經穴), standards of diagnosis and treatment subjects of FPT Acupuncture Methods used in practices of Korean Medicine (韓醫學) were analyzed through updated literature. Next, the theoretical issues of FPT Acupuncture Methods regarding the composition of selecting exclusively on Five Transport Points(五輸穴) and targeted treatment subjects were investigated. Based upon the investigation, the future direction of development was studied. Results & Conclusions: Firstly, pattern identification and treatment of FPT Acupuncture Methods targeted mostly on Viscera and Bowels(臟腑). However, some showed the tendency to Five Phases Reductionism(五行 還元主義) which attempts to apply Five Phase Theory(五行學說) to symptoms that were not related to Viscera and Bowels(臟腑). Secondly, Five Transport Points(五輸穴) are theoretically related to 'Viscera and Bowels in Concept of Visceral Manifestation(臟象臟腑)'. Thirdly, when the cause of the symptoms exceeds the main therapeutic range of FPT Acupuncture Methods, it is effective to add Acupuncture Points(經穴) excluding Five Transport Points(五輸穴). And also, it is efficient to use Acupuncture Methods(鍼法) that is not based on principles of Five Phase Theory(五行學說). For the accomplishment, further researches on the approaches to apply basic Korean Medical principles such as Three Yin and Three Yang(三陰三陽) into Acupuncture Methods(鍼法) and Acupuncture Points(經穴) are necessary.

Objectives: This study is to understand and develop Acupuncture treatment in Korean Medicine(韓醫學). Methods : Firstly, the definitions of Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) and Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were clarified. Secondly, the results from the researches of previously existing Acupuncture Prescriptions(鍼 處方) were analyzed. Results ＆ Conclusions : Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) represents the results achieved from combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) according to the symptoms of diseases. Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) denote methodologies for proposing Acupuncture Prescriptions(鍼 處方) which were accomplished by combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) based on a specific theory. The existing methods of combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) derived from the analysis of Acupuncture Prescription (鍼 處方) have a meaning in suggesting a direction for acupuncture treatments. However, deficiencies still exist to restore the absence of universality and objectivity in acupuncture treatment. Researches on Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) based on the principle are required accordingly. The concept of hierarchy exists in Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) and it ranks Acupuncture Points(腧穴) as primary and secondary according to the indications of the Acupuncture Points(腧穴). Since there is the time difference in needling process, the concept of hierarchy is fulfilled through the needling procedure.

Objectives : Sa-am Acupucture(舍岩鍼法), Taeguk Acupucture(太極鍼法), and 8 Constitution-Acupuncture(八體質鍼法) are largely used acupuncture therapies which utilize Yin and Yang, The Five Elements, Interpromoting and Counteracting Relation(相生 相克 關係). We are here to compare and study each acupuncture methods in order to understand their fundamental principle and theory. Conclusion : 1. When prescribing Herb to patients, we can use the Differentiation of Syndromes method(辨證論治). As there is Constitutional Medicine prescription(四象醫學處方) using constitutional Large & Small Relation of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小 關係), in acupuncture treatment we can use the Differentiation of Syndromes method of Sa-am acupucture, applying constitutional Large & Small feature of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小) in Taeguk Acupucture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture we can derive a suitable prescriptions. 2. Taeguk Acupucture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture is an acupunture method created upon the constitutional theory. Taeguk Acupucture lacks a theory and has problems with its practical use. 8 Constitution-Acupuncture has a theory, thus it can give us the chance to make derived diverse prescriptions for each diseases. 3. Sa-am Acupucture uses exclusively Manual technique(手技法), breathing Posa method(呼吸補瀉法), YoungSu Posa method(迎隨補瀉法) and also retaining method(留鍼法). Taeguk Acupunctune is directed related with WonBang Posa method(圓方補瀉法), twirling method(撚鍼法) and uses retaining method. 8 Constitution-Acupuncture works only with YoungSu Posa method and also One-insertion method(單刺法). 4. If we apply The Five Elements of five Su points and Interpromoting and Counteracting Relation(相生 相克 關係), we can control discords between Jang and Bu organs. Sa-am Acupucture, Taeguk Acupture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture which use five Su points can make better results in Jang and Bu organs disease. 5. Sa-am Acupunture needs diverse applications of Organ picture theory(臟象論), Pathogenesis theory(病機學說) and an proper prescription studies by Differentiation of Syndromes(辨證). Taeguk Acupuncture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture has a organized prescription methods by constitutional Large & Small relation of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小), thus we need to focus on objectification in constitutional differentiation.

Obiectives : Otitis media is the disease which indicates every inflammatory situation in the middle ear. This includes the inflammation in the ear canal and mastoid sinus. In this study, the effect of Sa-Am acupuncture Bi-Jung-Geouk(脾正格) and Bojoong-ikgi-tang(補中益氣湯) for three children patients with otitis media were evaluated. Methods : After treatment with the Sa-Am acupuncture Bi-Jung-Geouk(脾正格) and Bojoong-ikgi-tang(補中益氣湯) for 3~6 weeks, we evaluated the effect by the figure of otoscope and complaints of patients. Results : In three cases, the pus in the figure declined dramatically and symptoms of patients got better after 3~6 weeks treatment. Conclusions : The Sa-Am acupuncture Bi-Jung-Geouk(脾正格) and Bojoong-ikgi-tang(補中益氣湯) for otitis media was effective. It will be attempted to the patients with it.

This report is to introduce a specific acupuncture methods as a cosmetic treatment. I applied wu-xing(五行) acupuncture technique to 11 patients for smooth out skin wrinkles. There were visual improvement of patients' facial skin. This methods cuts SMAS, stimulates dermis, and helps to recover skin volume and generate new dermal tissue by wound-healing mechanism.

Objective : The objective of this study is to verify the characteristics of acupuncture methods of Joseon Dynasty by looking into the relationship between five viscera diagnosis and acupuncture methods. Material & Method : In the process, I've reviewed the relationship between meridian/exterior and viscera/bowels, along with a thorough comparison of the academic tendency in acupuncture of Ming-China, Qing-China and Joseon. Result & Conclusion : The two fields of meridian and exterior, and viscera and bowels had been theoretically merged, and based upon that, foundation methods applying the five viscera diagnosis were designed. Joseon acupuncture exceeded the existing concept of viscera which simply related itself to the exterior meridian and exterior by integrating the concepts from the visceral manifestation theory. With this, large proportions of medicine related to the visceral manifestation theory were invited into acupuncture, expanding therapeutic boundaries for acupuncture treatment. A historical review on medical texts starts from the Hyangyakjipseongbang("鄕藥集成方") which familiarized the public with mainstream acupuncture knowledge up until the Song dynasty, followed by Uibangyuchwi("醫方類聚"), which sparked up interest on the acupuncture methods based on viscera and bowels. Donguibogam("東醫寶鑑") organized the medical theories up until then, building a foundation upon which viscera/bowel-based acupuncture was able to develop further. In Chimgugyeongheombang("鍼灸經驗方"), viscera/bowel-based acupuncture methods started to blossom, integrating the meridian and exterior theory with the viscera manifestation theory, which in turn provided various methods through five viscera diagnosis. In the Saamdoin acupuncture method(舍岩道人鍼法), diagnostic criteria moved on to the five viscera diagnosis, and new methods resulting from the inter-complimentary and inter-prohibiting relationships between the five phases were introduced, opening a new world of acupuncture.

Objectives : This study was undertaken in order to establish the composite principles of formulas through the comparison of Saam acupuncture and Eight Constitution acupuncture theories. Methods : We compared the structural patterns of formulas between Saam and Eight Constitution acupuncture theories, and applied 'Wang Xiang Xiu Qiu Si(旺相休囚死)' to the analysis of formulas of these theories. Results : 1. There were similarities between Saam and Eight Constitution acupuncture theories in the comparisons of structural patterns of acupuncture formulas and tonifying liver formulas. 2. 'Wang Xiang Xiu Qiu Si' is applied to the constitutional strong and weak relationships of zang-fu organs in these theories. 3. In the cases of tonifying, it is possible to reinforce the family group and reduce the enemy group organs in the Eight Constitution acupuncture theory. In cases of purging, it is possible to reduce the family group and reinforce the enemy group organs. Conclusions : It is possible to establish the composite principles of formulas by the application of 'Wang Xiang Xiu Qiu Si' in Saam acupuncture and Eight Constitution acupuncture theories.

Objectives Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) is uniquely established in the field of Korean Medicine. Taegeuk Acupuncture(TGA) and Eight Constitution Acupuncture(ECA) which are created upon SCM are applied in clinics. However, there exists no established theory but hypothesis with regard to the composition of acupoints of constitution acupuncture. The purpose of this study was to help establish the Sasang constitution acupuncture(SCA) method. Methods Thirties studies were found on various Oriental medicine journals and 17 literatures with the key words relevant to constitution and acupuncture. Results For the principle of acupoint selection, 12 studies were included which were classified into TGA, ECA, SCA, other constitution acupuncture. Among 17 literatures, most of them were relevant to SCA. For the clinical studies, eight of total 13 using ECA were for musculoskeletal diseases. Conclusions Among studies and literatures chosen, the application of Saam's acupuncture method was most frequently found in SCA method. For establishing the SCA method, the two main concepts need to be considered, which are the consideration of four areas namely Lungs, Spleen, Liver and Kidneys and upward-downward-loosening-tightening movement of the Qi according to Sasang constitution type.

Objectives : This study was undertaken in order to establish clinical application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment by Sasang(4-type) Constitutional medicine. Methods : 1. Dr. Lee Byung-haeng suggested nine applications of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment of Soyang(lesser Yang) type men. 2. The author summarized the application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment gathered by clinical experience. 3. The author researched the effect of Taegeuk acupuncture on patients after treatment. Results & Conclusions : 1. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against psychogenic disease. 2. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against autonomic nervous system dysfunction(For example, blood circulation disorder, etc.) and has an effect on recovery from sub-health. 3. The author conclude that Taegeuk acupuncture treatment for incurable diseases or diseases of unknown etiology needs a further clinical study in the future.
