The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural dynamic behavior under hybrid control system. The hybrid test is to consider the interaction between the numerical and physical models. In this paper, single degree of freedom hybrid test was performed with one-bay, two-story steel frame structure. One column at the first floor was selected as a physical substructure and one actuator was used for applying the displacement load in horizontal direction. El Centro as earthquake waves was inputted and OpenSees was employed as the numerical analysis program for the hybrid real-time simulation. As a result, the total time of the hybrid test was about 9.6% of actual measured seismic period. The experimental results agreed well with the numerical one in terms of the maximum displacement. In nonlinear analysis, however, material nonlinearity made a difference of residual strain. Therefore, this hybrid dynamic test can be used to predict the structural dynamic performance more effectively than shaking table test, because of the spatial and economic limitations.
Recently despite the development of analysis program and construction technologies, collapse at the many earth retaining wall construction site of the structure due to the economic and human damage has occurred. The results of geothechnical investigation studies field, it was found to differ from the results of the original design. There may be errors parameters calculated from the results of ground investigation in such a case. And it can be estimated that it is irrational to behavior analysis of the earth retaining wall were analyzed by utilizing the parameters. And in this study, parameters that affect the earth retaining wall the correlations were analyzed using elasto-plastic method. Analysis method was changed various parameters (cohesion, subgrade reaction coefficient, load condition) applied to the elasto-plastic method. And due to a change in the behavior of earth retaining wall materials were analyzed. As a result, the cohesion greatly affects the behavior of earth retaining wall materials in various parameters. For this reason, the results of the geothechnical investigation, confirmation of the actual ground is very important in the design of the earth retaining wall. And, calculating accurate and reasonable of the cohesion of the various parameters is very important.

Recently, there have been many studies pertaining to reducing energy consumption on ships. As part of those studies, the energy consumption of ships can be reduced by understanding and controlling the varying loads, excluding fixed loads. In existing ships, engine room fans are usually operated based on the actual experience of the crew without any special guidelines. To realize energy reduction, we investigate the characteristics of engine-room fans, and we propose an energy-management system called the engine room fan control system (ERFCS) and the ERFCS algorithm. The ERFCS controls the fan speed depending on the temperature and pressure, where one to four fans are operated depending on changes in the load. In addition, the minimum rotation speed of the engine-room fan was limited to 50% to prevent the surging phenomenon, which is due to fan damage or low pressure resulting from mechanical friction or heating at low fan speeds. We develop a fan control system simulation model using LabVIEW that is based on the proposed algorithm and ISO 8861. Finally, we perform simulations to confirm that operation of the proposed fan control system is possible using only 46.4% of the power required by the existing method.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the mechanical stress and displacement on the jaws during the simulated bilateral clenching task on the three-dimensional finite element model of the dentated skull with unilateral molar loss. For this study, the computed tomography(G.E.8800 Quick, USA) was used to scan the total length of human skull in the frontal plane at 2.0mm intervals. The fully assembled finite element model consists of the articular disc, maxilla, mandible, teeth, periodontal ligament and cranium. The FE model was used to simulate the bilateral clenching in intercuspal position. The loading condition was the force of the masseter muscle exerted on the mandible as reported by Korioth et al. degrees of freedom of the zygomatic region where the masseter muscle is attached were fixed as restraints. In order to reflect the actual action of the muscles force, the displacement of the region was attached where the muscle is connected to the temporal bone and restraint conditions were given values identical to values at the attachment region of the masticatory muscle but with the opposite direction of the reaction from when the muscle force is acted on the mandible. Although the mandible generally has higher displacement and von Mises stress than the maxilla, its mandibular corpus on the molar-loss side has a higher stress and displacement than the molar-presence side. Because the displacement and von Mises Stress was the highest on the lateral surface of mandibular corpus with molar loss, the stress level of the condyle on the molar-loss side is greater than that of the molar-presence side, which in turn caused the symphysis of the mandible to bend. In conclusion, the unilateral posterior bite collapse with molar loss under para-functional activities such as bruxism and clenching can affect the stress concentration on the condyle and mandibular corpus. It is therefore necessary to consider the biomechanical function of dento-skeleton under masticatory force while designing the occlusal scheme of restoration on alveolar bone with the posterior collapse.

The objective of this study is to analyze the investment adequacy of the projects implemented according to the master plan on sewerage rehabilitation at Seoul. The planned and actually implemented ratio of invested money on sewage treatment plants (STPs) to sewers were compared in two temporal periods. Though the planned ratio of investment on STPs to sewers was 50:50 (in 2009-2020), the actual implemented ratio in 2009-2013 was 34:66. Until 2020, the greater investment ratio on STPs to sewers should be made considering the necessity of coping with stricter legal compliance on advanced treatment, stormwater treatment and so on. The priority of the planned and partially implemented projects among four STPs and at each STP was evaluated. Considering only the performance indicator of reduced load of BOD, T-N, T-P per the capacity of each STP facility, the performance among four STPs was shown as Jung-Rang>Tan-Cheon>Seo-Nam>Nan-Ji. The reverse order of the performance results in the past may be considered for future investment priority, but the efficiency of operation implemented at each STP, deteriorated status of each STP, investment in the past and so forth should also be considered. As for the priority of projects conducted within each STP, projects related to legal compliance (such as advanced tertiary treatment, stormwater treatment, etc.) have highest priority. Odor-related project and inhabitant-friendly facility related projects (such as building park on STPs, etc.) has lower priority than water quality related projects but interactivity with end-users of sewerage should also be important.

In the dissertation, a power conversion system for fuel cell is composed of a PWM inverter with LC filter in order to convert fuel cell voltage to a single phase 220[V]. In addition, new insulated DC-DC converters are proposed in order that fuel cell voltage is boosted to 380[V]. In this paper, it requires smaller components than existing converters, which makes easy control. The proposed DC-DC converter controls output power by the adjustment of phase-shift width using switch $S_5\;and\;S_6$ in the secondary switch which provides 93-97[%] efficiency in the wide range of output voltage. Fuel cell simulator is implemented to show similar output characteristics to actual fuel cell. Appropriate dead time td enables soft switching to the range where the peak value of excitation current in a high frequency transformer is in accordance with current in the primary circuit. Moreover, appropriate setting to serial inductance La reduces communication loss arisen at light-load generator and serge voltage arisen at a secondary switch and serial diode. Finally, TMS320C31 board and EPLD using PWM switching technique to act a single phase full-bridge inverter which is planed to make alternating current suitable for household

Partial discharge diagnosis techniques using ultra high frequencies do not affect load movement, because there is no interruption of power. Consequently, these techniques are popular among the prevention diagnosis methods. For the first time, this measurement technique has been applied to the GIS, and has been tested by applying an extra high voltage switchboard. This particular technique makes it easy to measure in the live state, and is not affected by the noise generated by analyzing the causes of faults ? thereby making risk analysis possible. It is reported that the analysis data and the evaluation of the risk level are improved, especially for poor location, and that the measurement of Ultra high frequency (UHF) partial discharge of the real live wire in industrial switchgear is spectacular. Partial discharge diagnosis techniques by using the Ultra High Frequency sensor have been recently highlighted, and it is verified by applying them to the GIS. This has become one of the new and various power equipment techniques. Diagnosis using a UHF sensor is easy to measure, and waveform analysis is already standardized, due to numerous past case experiments. This technique is currently active in research and development, and commercialization is becoming a reality. Another aspect of this technique is that it can determine the occurrences and types of partial discharge, by the application diagnosis for live wire of ultra high voltage switchgear. Measured data by using the UHF partial discharge techniques for ultra high voltage switchgear was obtained from 200 places in Gumi, Yeosu, Taiwan and China's semiconductor plants, and also the partial discharge signals at 15 other places were found. It was confirmed that the partial discharge signal was destroyed by improving the work of junction bolt tightening check, and the cable head reinforcement insulation at 8 places with a possibility for preventing the interruption of service. Also, it was confirmed that the UHF partial discharge measurement techniques are also a prevention diagnosis method in actual industrial sites. The measured field data and the usage of the research for risk assessment techniques of the live wire status of power equipment make a valuable database for future improvements.

This study examined a pile foundation using a spiral pile. To maintain the structural safely, a foundation for connecting the ground and the ground structure is needed. On the other hand, noise and vibration, etc. cause problems when constructing a foundation on adjacent structures or urban areas. A study of the spiral foundation of a new shape with low vibration and noise was carried out to solve these problems. A study of pile foundations was carried out on a scaled model test and compared with the results of Meyerhof's bearing capacity theory. The scaled model test results showed that the bearing capacity increases with increasing pitch angle and length of the spiral pile. To verify the measured bearing capacity in a test with theoretical results, the bearing capacity of the actual spiral pile and scaled model pile were examined and compared. The ultimate bearing capacity of the spiral pile can be increased by increasing the foundation length and pitch angle. This study complements existing foundation construction problems and contributes to a better effect and safety.
The objective of the present study is to provide the basic data necessary for estimating the overall heat transfer coefficient of commercial plastic greenhouse. The heat flow through covering of greenhouses was measured and the variation of overall heat transfer coefficient was analyzed. Because the inside-outside temperature difference of greenhouse to indicate the stabilized overall heat transfer coefficient was different depending on the number of covering layers, the actual overall heat transfer coefficient should be decided in range of inside-outside temperature difference to make the coefficient constant for each covering method. The variation trend of the overall heat transfer coefficient according to the inside-outside temperature difference corresponded with the existing research results, but the specific values of temperature difference to present the stabilized overall heat transfer coefficient were different each other. The increase rates of overall heat transfer coefficient with wind speed were quite dissimilar among several research results and the quantity of heat loss through covering according to the wind speed in the double layers covered or curtained greenhouse was less than that in the single layer covered greenhouse. Because there was large variations among the values of overall heat transfer coefficient for the polyethylene film greenhouses, it was required to establish the standardized environmental condition for experiment measuring heat flow through covering in commercial greenhouse.

A ship's propulsion shafting system is subjected to varying magnitudes of intermittent loadings that pose great risks such as failure. Consequently, the dynamic characteristic of a propulsion shafting system must be designed to withstand the resonance that occurs during operation. This resonance results from hydrodynamic interaction between the propeller and fluid. For ice-class vessels, this interaction takes place between the propeller and ice. Producing load- and resonance-induced stresses, the propeller-ice interaction is the primary source of excitation, making it a major focus in the design requirements of propulsion shafting systems. This paper examines the transient torsional vibration response of the propulsion shafting system of an ice-class research vessel. The propulsion train is composed of an electric motor, flexible coupling, spherical gears, and a propeller configuration. In this paper, the theoretical analysis of transient torsional vibration and propeller-ice interaction loading is first discussed, followed by an explanation of the actual transient torsional vibration measurements. Measurement data for the analysis were compared with an applied estimation factor for the propulsion shafting design torque limit, and they were evaluated using an existing international standard. Addressing the transient torsional vibration of a propulsion shafting system with an electric motor, this paper also illustrates the influence of flexible coupling stiffness design on resulting resonance. Lastly, the paper concludes with a proposal to further study the existence of negative torque on a gear train and its overall effect on propulsion shafting systems.
