Two adolescent cases of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome (청소년에서의 Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome 2례)

  • Two adolescent cases of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome, which has not been previously reported in Korean girls, presenting with right upper-quadrant abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever are reported here. A careful and thorough inquiry into the sexual history of the first patient, which was not done upon admission, led to a careful reassessment of the dynamic abdominal computed tomography scan revealing hepatic capsular enhancement without evidence of gallbladder or liver disease. Both cases were diagnosed noninvasively and were treated successfully by medical intervention. A high index of suspicion of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome should be implemented in the differential diagnosis of right upper quadrant pain, particularly in sexually active girls, for a prompt diagnosis and rapid cure.

Electrochemical Properties and Estimation on Active Material LiMnO2 Synthesis for Secondary

  • This paper is contents on the orthorhombic crystalline calcined by the solid phase method with LiMnO$_2$ thin film structured as the result which an average pore diameter of power was 132.3${\AA}$ in porosity analysis. Voltage ranges are able to get the properties of charge and discharge for experimental results of LiMnO$_2$ thin film were 2.2V 4.3V. The current density and scan speed were 0. 1㎃/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 0.2㎷/sec respectively. Properties of the charge and discharge are obtained by optimum experiment condition parameters. Li dense ratio of the LiMnO$_2$ thin film that discharged capacities were 87㎃h/g have been 96.9[ppm] at 670.784[nm] wavelength. The dense ratio of Mn analyzed to 837[ppm] at 257.610[nm] wavelength. It can be estimated the quality of the LiMnO$_2$ thin film as that the wrong LiMnO$_2$ thin film pulled up from cell of electrolyte and became dry it at 800$^{\circ}C$. The results of SEM and XRD were the same as that of original researchers.

  • Supercapacitors, also known as electrochemical capacitors, are being extensively studied due to an increasing demand for energy-storage systems. These devices offer many advantages over conventional secondary batteries, which include the ability of fast charge propagation, long cycle-life and better storage efficiency. That is to say supercapacitor bridges the gap between conventional capacitors and batteries. A new type electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) also called supercapacitors. Recently, supercapacitors concerns about their high power density and energy density. So we experiment with EDLC by using carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and DAAQ(1,5-diaminoanthraquinone) electrode. The electrode for supercapacitor was prepared by synthesis of DAAQ covered CNFs. CNFs could be covered with very thin DAAQ oligomer from the results of CV, XRD, DSC, SEM images, and TEM images. Dissolved electrode active material in NMP solution has been drop-coated on carbon plate. Its electrochemical characteristics were investigated by cyclic voltammograms. And compared with different electrolyte of aqueous type. As a result, CNFs coated by DAAQ composite electrode showed relatively good electrochemical behaviors with respect to specific capacity and scan rate dependency.

Enzymatic properties of the N- and C-terminal halves of human hexokinase II

  • Although previous studies on hexokinase (HK) II indicate both the N- and C-terminal halves are catalytically active, we show in this study the N-terminal half is significantly more catalytic than the C-terminal half in addition to having a significantly higher $K_m$ for ATP and Glu. Furthermore, truncated forms of intact HK II lacking its first N-terminal 18 amino acids ($\Delta$18) and a truncated N-terminal half lacking its first 18 amino acids ($\Delta$18N) have higher catalytic activity than other mutants tested. Similar results were obtained by PET-scan analysis using $^{18}F-FDG$. Our results collectively suggest that each domain of HK II possesses enzyme activity, unlike HK I, with the N-terminal half showing higher enzyme activity than the C-terminal half.

Ga-67 SPECT Finding in Tuberculous Pericarditis with Mediastinal Mass: A case report (종격동 종괴를 수반한 결핵성 심낭염 1예의 Ga-67 SPECT 소견)

  • We present a case of a 31 year-old male patient with tuberculous pericarditis with mediastinal mass that showed increased uptake on Gallium-67 image. Gallium-67 scan was performed to evaluate the activity of the superior mediastinal mass, which was detected on chest CT. A rim of intense activity around the heart was observed, but increased uptake was not seen in the mediastinum. However, on maximal contrast-enhanced SPECT images, a small focus of faint uptake was observed in the superior mediastinum. This finding implied that there was an active tuberculosis in the pericardium and inflammation in the superior mediastinal mass. This case demonstrated that Gallium-67 scinitigraphy was helpful for the diagnosis of tuberculous pericarditis.

Carcinoembryonic Antigen Level in Liver Disease (간질환에서의 혈청 Carcinoembryonic Antigen 가(價))

  • Carcinoembryonic antigen was initially known as tumor specific antigen and had a potential diagnostic value in the detection of digestive tract malignancies. However, subsequent studies showed CEA and CEA-like antigen present in benign disease, particullary in liver. We had collected sera from 58 patients who had liver scan and later were diagnosed clinically and histologically as liver disease. We estimated CEA values and correlations were made with liver function tests in liver cirrhosis cases. The results: 1) The raised plasma carcinoembryonic antigen level were found in 13 (68.4%) of 19 patients in liver cirrhosis, 5(27.8%) of 18 patients in hepatoma, 5(71. %) of 7 patients in chronic active hepatitis, all 3 patients in liver abscesses, 2(66.7%) of 3 patients in liver ablscesses, 2(66.7%) of 3 patients in obstructive biliary disease and none in each one patient of traumatic liver hematoma, subphrenic abscess and clonorchiasis. 2) There is no linear correlation between carcinoembryodic antigen level and liver function tests including serum bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, SGOT and prothrombin time in liver cirrhosis patients.

  • The High Performance Module With The Shingled String Has Several Advantages Such As The Larger Active Area, Higher Open-Circuit Voltage And Smaller Cell To Module (Ctm) Loss. To Obtain Increase Of Power In Pv Shingled Module, The Detailed Condition Of Various Parameters Related To Cutting And Bonding Process Were Investigated In This Study. We Searched The Optimized Cutting Conditions Of Laser Scan Speed, The Number Of Laser-Scribing And Also Bonding Conditions Of Electrically Conductive Adhesives (Eca) By Varying Amount Of Eca, Curing Time And Curing Temperature. The Shingled Pv Module Showed 25.4W of Maxmimum Power At 60 Rpm Of Dipensing Motor Speed, 30 Seconds Of Curing Time And $140^{\circ}C$ Of Curing Temperature, Respectively.

  • The design and implementation of planar Active Phased Array Antenna System are described in this paper. This Antenna system operates at X-band with its bandwidth 10 % and dual polarization is realized using dual slot feeding microstrip patch antenna and SPDT(Single Pole Double Through) switch. Array Structure is $16\times16$ triangular lattice structure and each array is composed of TR(Transmit & Receive) module with more than 40 dBm power. Each TR module includes digital attenuator and phase shifter so that antenna beam can be electronically steered over a scan angle$({\pm}60^{\circ})$. Measurement of antenna pattern is conducted using a near field chamber and the results coincide with the expected beam pattern. From these results, it can be convinced that this antenna can be used with control of beam steering and beam shaping.

T-SPOT.TB for Detection of Tuberculosis Infection among Hematological Malignancy Patients and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients

  • The diagnosis of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is recommended in hematological malignancy patients and before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Guidelines for the prevention and management of infectious complications of solid organ transplantation, 2004). Compared to traditional methods such as tuberculin skin test (TST), T-SPOT.TB has been shown to be more specific. In the present study we enrolled 536 patients for whom T-SPOT.TB was performed, among which 295 patients also received the TST test. The agreement (79%) between T-SPOT.TB and TST was poor (x=0.274, P<0.001). The patients with positive T-SPOT.TB results numbered 62 (11.6%), in which only 20 (48.8%) of the 41 receiving the TST test had positive results. A majority of the patients with T-SPOT.TB positive results had some other evidence ofTB, such as TB history, clinical symptoms and an abnormal chest CT scan. Active TB was found in 9 patients, in which 2 had negative TST results. We followed up the patients and no one developed active TB. Our study suggested that the T-SPOT.TB may be more useful for screening LTBI and active TB in hematological malignancy patients and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients than the TST test.

Charge-discharge Characteristics of $LiCoO_2/Li$ Rechargeable Cell ($LiCoO_2/Li$ 2차전지의 충방전 특성)

  • This paper describes the development of lithium rechargeable cell. $LiCoO_2$ is recently recognized as a suitable cathode active material of a high voltage, high energy lithium rechargeable batteries because $Li^+$ ion can be electrochemically deintercalated/intercalated from/to $Li_xCoO_2$. The transition metal oxide of $LiCoO_2$ was investigated for using as a cathode active material of 4V class Li rechargeable cell. $LiCoO_2$ cathode was prepared by using a active material of 85 wt%, graphite powder of 12 wt% as a conductor and poly-vinylidene fluoride of 3 wt% as a binder. The electrochemical and charge/discharge properties of $LiCoO_2$ were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge/discharge. The open circuit voltage of prepared $LiCoO_2$ electrode exhibited approximately. potential range between 3.32V and 3.42V. During the galvanostatic charge/discharge, $LiCoO_2/Li$ cell showed stable cycling behavior at scan rate of 1mV/sec and potential range between 3.6V and 4.2V. Also its coulombic efficiency as function of cycling was 81%~102%. In this study the $LiCoO_2/Li$ cell showed the available discharge capacity of 90.1 mAh/g at current density of $1mA/cm^2$ and cell discharge voltage range between 3.6V~4.2V.
