  • Active vibration control method for the reduction of vibration of structures have been developed. For the application of real structures active control system that has robustness must be designed because the mathematical model incompletely described has intrinsically modeling error. In this research we propose LQG/LTR method in designing control system with robustness. A combination of acceleration feedback and model-order reduction technique is used for the application of real structures and the computation efficiency. In case of such structures as the building and the tower the inter-story relative displacements represent an important constraint in seismic design. Therefore selection method of design parameters is also proposed in order to reduce the inter-story relative displacements.

  • This study proposes a novel control and design method for a grid-connected inverter with an LCL filter without damping. The current resonance phenomenon must be considered when designing the grid-connected inverter system with an LCL filter. Passive or active damping is used in the inverter system to reduce the resonant current. However, passive damping reduces the efficiency of the system, and active damping methods are complex. If the resonant frequency is in a specific region, then the system will be unstable. This study examines the process of stabilizing the entire region without resonant damping. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experimentation.

  • This paper discusses a simple control approach for a Unified Power Conditioner (UPC) system to achieve power quality compensation at the point of common coupling in distribution systems. The proposed Instantaneous Power Estimation Algorithm (IPEA) for shunt and series active power filters uses a simple mathematical concept that reduces the complexity in the design of the controller. The performance of a UPC is verified with a system subjected to voltage distortions, sags/swells and unbalanced loads using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation study shows that a UPC with the proposed control algorithm can effectively compensate for voltage and current harmonics, unbalance and reactive power. The control algorithm is experimentally implemented using dSPACE DS1104 and its effectiveness has been verified.

  • A parallel active power filter is designed and implemented to compensate for undesired current harmonics generated by a nonlinear load. The filter works based on PWM strategy and control signal is generated using a model predictive controller. To evaluate the achievements, a PI controller is also designed and implemented. Experimental results indicate about 50% increase in the efficiency over PI controller.

  • An important assumption for the active power filter design using instantaneous power theory and the d-q transformation method in a 3-phase power system is based on balanced 3-phase system. However, under pratical conditions, the 3-phase power system can not be continuously balanced due to unbalanced loading. In this paper, a method to control the 3-phase active power filer using instantaneous power theory and the d-q transformation under unbalanced power system is presented and the theoretical results are verified by simulated results.

  • This paper deals with the active clamp ZVS flyback converter for semiconductor plasma etching system. The proposed converter has the characteristics of the good power facter low switching noise and efficiency improvement. The characteristics are verified through simulation results. Furthermore the ringing effect due to output capacitance of the main switch can be eliminated by use of active clamp circuit.

  • In this paper, a relation of matrix Q in cost function to distances between the closed-loop and open-loop poles of a multi input controllable systems is studied. Futhmore, the state feedback gain with exact desired eigenvalues in the LQR is computed. The proposed scheme is applied to designing automotive active suspension control system for a half-car model and its performance is compared with the existing LQR control system design methodology.

  • The topology of active clamp forward converter provides ZVS characteristic and also the stress of voltage and current is smaller than that of the conventional forward converters. The benefits of this technique include a higher efficiency at a high switching frequency, lower EMI/RFI. In this paper, the active clamp forward converter is designed for operation in wide range voltage and has 19.5V/120W ratings with efficiency more than 90%.

  • The control-ability of vehicle active suspension is strongly affected by the performance of pressure control valve especially in the view of dynamic response and energy consumption. Important design parameters in the valve are selected and the effect of variation of those is analized experimentally to enhance the performance of pressure control valve used in Active Suspension.

  • This paper designs the robust hybrid controller for the multi degree-of-freedom system having uncertainty caused by modeling error and disturbances. The controlled plant is the construction which has an active dynamic vibration absorber on the top and is excited by the El Centre earthquake at the base. The active controller designed by the LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) and H-infinity control theory. The robustness of the hybrid H$\infty$ controller is compared with that of the hybrid LQ controller from computer simulation.
